The 10 Most Expensive Iphone Apps
Xarex replied to 100janovski's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Crazy prices. I've been an iPhone user for the past 3 or 4 years. I hate the way Apple does business.. releasing a new iPhone. I am just waiting for my 2g to die! At least, by the time it does and I get a new iPhone -- or not -- I'll at least hopefully have something that's worth it without bugs.Anyways, I don't think I've ever paid for a single application. Don't get me wrong, I would if the right one came along. But spending over $100 on an app is ridiculous. But I guess you have to figure the power of the app, how much work went into it, and what it can actually do. Using the iPhone as surveillance is quite amazing but if there wasn't lag on this, I'd be very impressed. It must rely on some sort of wifi connection. The iPhone is dominating one area though which is eliminating competition for other companies to continue making them, or figuring out ways to become advanced: The GPS system is becoming obsolete as most smartphones are now taking over and dominating the realm of where the GPS used to lie. I can't say this is a bad thing. When I was living in the city of Chicago, the fact that I could push a button to locate me, where I was, and where I had to go, was quite amazing -- instead of having to carry around an extra tiny portable device to figure out where I'm going. So no complaints about that. But even an expensive app that boasts of it's GPS capabilities are only as strong as the actual phone's GPS system. And I've seen apps GPS apps go for quite a bit of money on here, which is insane, considering the GPS system that is built right into Google Maps. -
I think these virus scanners will do anything to become the top brand. Norton and McAfee are the primary PAID anti-virus scanners. I've always had problems with Norton. I think it's a virus itself. Often when I've installed it, I've never been able to access my wifi afterwards, and then the whole system crashes when I try to uninstall it.While I have no real big complaints about McAfee, I always felt like it was never doing its full job. It might sit there and boast its big name, but when it came to scanning viruses, I had always felt that it would miss files and never felt fully protected. Of course, I'm talking about McAfee a few years ago. Maybe they've turned around and become amazing. But I doubt it.So them boasting about being able to do this.. I'm not quite convinced. It's not the first time they've been something "award winning" before. And I wonder who gave the reward. Okay, so I'm a bit biased and untrusting here when it comes to these "top" names. I'm an Avast user and ever since I've switched to the free anti-virus software, I always found it was more useful. Even if it was free, it did a lot more than I ever got out of the paid virus scanners.

I've registered for several Gmail accounts and even have them all linked with each other so what one box receives, so does the other. It's hard, after many years, to just switch over. But I do think Gmail kind of makes that easier considering you can just have it forward to whatever mailbox you want. Gmail definitely is superior to every other mail system.I've had Yahoo .. and all I get is bombarded with spam emails.I've had Hotmail .. the account got hacked.I've had AOL .. limits the amount of mail you can have in your inbox and severely limits the upload limit.I haven't used the priority feature, as I just read all incoming mail and sort it out myself. The labeling system is amazing. I have nearly everything labeled and I have a label for damn near everything. Helps me to find what I need in whatever category quickly. I didn't want to block emails from any of my close friends who can occasionally get annoying by sending me forward emails.. so I've labeled them so I just at least can take the time to read it once in a while. The search feature is powerful, with advanced searching to search from who and what. And the incorporated chat feature and even the Call Phone system that is linked to Google Voice.Yahoo is the most likely guilty of it -- selling your email address to the highest bidder for spam.Gmail, however, respects your privacy, and despite the few ads you may see -- they are often appealing, or at least not in your face advertising.I don't know what it is.. but there has definitely been something about Google that has always appealed to me, and Gmail has been my default email system for over 6 years now.Love it! Highly recommend it! I remember when I was telling everyone about it and kept saying for everyone to get it.. even sending Invites out to anyone who wanted it. Gmail has since been open but those were good times.. that VIP status for a while .

The Master Cleanse Stanley Burroughs lemonade diet
Xarex replied to Herbert1405241469's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I did a cleanse diet once. I think I got it from musclesurf.com called something like Sun Cleanse.. or Detox.. anyways, I think these are good to do at least once a year, but definitely can be hard. The diet basically requires you to only eat salad for 2 weeks in order to cleanse fully. By the end of 2 weeks, I was 14 pounds less and pooping nothing. I felt so pure and good. It was awesome.Did that a few years ago. Attempted to do it again but there is so much freakin' food in this world! It's hard to do and it takes so much commitment and strictness to train yourself to actually follow through with it. But in the end, if one does follow through with it with a daily work out routine.. it's freakin' amazing. The first cleanse I had ever done had began a routine of healthy lifestyle living for me.. ended up after 6 months losing something like 20 pounds, totaling about 30 pounds. Not bad going from around 245 down to 215. Definitely hope to do it again.I had a friend who was doing the whole lemonade thing. She loved it. I don't know how she did it.A cleanse is great, but a true diet comes from changing your lifestyle eating habits. You should generally eat more meals, but less calories. So not going for seconds would be helpful and just having smaller plates. I had to get out of the mentality of "having to finish everything on the plate" in order to realize that I could just wrap it up and save it for later. And since then, I've actually been eating much less and haven't had too many problems. The less you eat, and the more you train your hunger and your mind, the less hungry you actually are, and you soon realize that you only need to eat a little bit of food every few hours just to keep your body's metabolism going and be satisfied enough with that. While food can be very enjoyable and it is a necessity, there is a certain point where you are just eating in order to sustain your body with nutrition and energy. But it is kind of hard to just give up all of life's pleasure in food.. I'd say that the majority of our pleasure zone derives from tasting food. -
I love writing. I love poetry. It's very rare, however, where I am inspired to write such things. And only when I am, can I do it. So for 2 years of my life, when I met the girl of my dreams, and although things didn't work out like I had hoped.. she inspired me and continues to inspire me to be a better man. I am not unhappy.. because.. I had pondered the question: How many times do we come across the girl (or guy) of our dreams and actually get to meet them, talk to them, be with them, experience them? I got to do just that. I got to know her. I got to spend a lot of time with her. She knows I exist. And she knows how I feel about her. And how I'll always feel.I wrote about 10 poems - not sharing them all now, just one -- not all happy and certainly some that are bitter, but here's one I wrote while I was in love. But this was the first poem I wrote when I met her. And how I felt when I was in her presence and she was in mine. I hope some of you might understand the feeling of seeing and finding happiness in the eyes of another.HappinessWhere do I find it?It seems to be all around meAnd I enjoy every minute of itBut there is something missingHappinessWhere do I find it?It seems to be missingYet it's all around meI think I've found itIn her eyes

A few years ago, I would've said Windows only and certainly not Mac.But I was forced to convert to Mac due to a laptop dying and all I had was a Mac handy.. fell in love with it.There was no spam, it didn't slow down. Never have to worry about viruses.. no longer deal with EXE files. It's layout just generally looked nicer. I'm an avid Mac user now. There are certain things I miss about Windows, and in missing those things, I either bootcamp Windows or I have it on Virtual Machine, usually for games or to do what the Mac can't always do.Definitely miss programming when it came to Windows. Mac programming is just going to take more time to learn. -
What Do You Think Of Our New Chat Room?
Xarex replied to web_designer's topic in Web Hosting Support
The chatroom is great, but is always empty! People need to come on in and don't be shy! I know this post is old. But I also see there are people still around. -

MySpace This one has been long awaited
Xarex replied to nightfox1405241487's topic in General Discussion
And years later.... these reviews of MySpace kind of remain unchanged. I used to be into MySpace... and I tried to stay, but the servers are just so slow, pages load slowly, and while it's great to hear bands and all, it has become littered with kind of spam possible. Don't think it can be saved. They tried to revise it and even changed the name to My______ which doesn't make it any better. Still the same garbage as it was. But as said.. it's a pioneer.. millions of users who aren't going anywhere. -

These kinds of companies are popping up all the time. Usually after you purchase something at a store. I remember seeing them after I purchased some tickets at LiveNation which works with TicketMaster.com. The original thing was to get $10 off. And that's exactly what happened. I got $10 off the price. And then a month later, they charged me $10. For what exactly? I'm not sure. Stupid service. Definitely have to be aware of these kinds of offers which really aren't offers at all.

Reading posts like these makes me very anxious and I can hardly wait to experience it. And considering the amount of years of these archives and the web host is still going strong, I am so impressed. I haven't even gotten on to the servers yet and I'm already invested in it, feeling confident in it, trusting it, and definitely looking forward to it.

These forums are like a time portal.. interesting to see a link to a site that no longer exists.. because it probably just didn't pay and couldn't last.As much as there is a ghost feeling of these forums, it's like they are so very much alive and you get to see the past and participate with it as well.

I would say that free hosting is worth it only to an extent. If you want to experiment or are a starter, you should definitely spend some time with a free webhost. It will give you insight into how things work and also give you a chance to work with your website. This way, when you get a paid host, you can have everything up and running immediately and be able to advertise it and get it going asap.I actually am using another free host with no option to purchase a domain. I have only had one issue with it being down for 2 days. That was it. I trust it but why can't I purchase a domain with it? I am hoping to earn money from a website and it is the yoursite.com that will gain more popularity than coming in and getting into the minds of people as a subdomain. It's rare that a subdomain will ever be full-blown popular. mysite.google.com just doesn't seem to cut it. Google is still in those people's minds, whether they are visiting your site and seeing your logo name or not. That primary name is there. Or among any others.... mysite.freewebhost.com .. it's freewebhost that are in people's minds. But http://www.mysite.com/ ... if you can get this into people's minds, they'll return to it and your chances of becoming more popular are better.I think without it, however, it's much harder to at least know and experiment with what will happen. At least, even with being a subdomain, you can give your few friends the opportunity to see it before you go truly live with it.

Free Web Space complete guide to free web space
Xarex replied to rahulappe's topic in General Discussion
Wow this list is awesome. Got a whole list of sites to try from this. Though hopefully Xisto will be my last stop. Thank you though -
I think they are a great free webhost to practice and learn the CPanel and how to get a site up and operation, but I noticed those redirect links.. or 404 errors that take you to what almost seems like spam. I don't mind if they are trying to make money, but do it in a less annoying and more appropriate way.But as far as their support to free members go, and the occasional downtime with no explanation, I wasn't convinced nor did i trust them enough to buy webhosting and a domain with them.I'm all for giving the benefit of the doubt, but when it happens, a red flag definitely goes up.

Which Operating System Is Better? Its a poll
Xarex replied to swinkid's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I have made the switch to Mac from Windows and I'm here to stay, a loyal fan. However, I definitely could see myself making an entirely new jump into the direction of Linux, but not for a long time. Mac has become my favorite.. especially since I was used to having to defrag and do so much system maintenance with Windows. Used to spend hours just getting the OS to run normally again. Don't have to worry about that with Mac. -
Although Linux has accumulated and continues to accumulate millions of fans, it certainly will not take over. I think there is something "family" or "user-friendly" -oriented about Windows computers. The image of Microsoft Windows has been embedded into the mind of many people since the early 90s, maybe even late 80s, and its just hear to stay. I don't think there is anyone who doesn't know what Microsoft is and what it does. Or even has no idea what the Windows format looks like.So Microsoft dominates the minds of people who are looking for a simple and ready-to-go experience. Linux, however, dominates those who like to go beyond this simple experience and are looking for more. I definitely am happy to have crossed over.. and experienced Linux among other OS'. It has made me feel like I'm a part of this underground culture! Hehe.

An age old question. If you asked me 10 years ago, I would've said Windows without a doubt. But today... the Mac for sure.I was actually forced into learning how to use a Mac. I bought a Mac computer while still having a PC. My brother convinced me to buy it. I had gone off to college and brought both laptop computers.Well about halfway through the semester, with tons of papers due, my Toshiba PC died. And I was just forced to learn how to figure out how a Mac computer works. That old white one. I've since gotten a nice silver mac book pro and I love it.I don't have to deal with virus, spyware, or even an extremely slow system. The EXE file is no longer a worry in my mind. I feel like I can do anything with this system. I guess the only downside I feel.. is that I miss programming for Windows. It was very easy and I could make a fully interactive program that could use any feature within Windows in just a few hours. I've attempted to learn Cocoa and xCode with Mac but just gotten confused. I'm sure it takes time to learn, as it's very similar to C programming. But overall -- I'd recommend Mac at least once in your lifetime! You could end up switching! I used to be the person who was very anti-Mac, used to be the one to say every stereotype I knew against Mac, and they were probably true. But in 2011, Apple has really advanced its system and made it superior beyond all previous Mac systems. I still never left Windows completely and either have a Virtual Machine partition or a Bootcamp partition. The thing Mac lacks.. although it definitely is increasing its database.. are real extensive graphic games. Something that Windows dominates. So I miss that.

The New Ubuntu Release (maverick Meerkat) Is Now Available
Xarex replied to Vistz's topic in Websites and Web Designing
This was the first time I ever got into Linux -- with this version. So I think I came in at the right time. i was definitely impressed with the features, especially the quick loading time. The only thing I could not do, and I was using Linux through a Virtual Machine was get the "special effects" to work. But it was a very lightweight system and I'd recommend it for beginners who are just getting into Linux. -
I never got into Windows Vista. I was still so used to Windows XP and Vista just didn't look pretty to me nor did it impress me. However, I've recently only begun to explore Windows 7, and only through a Virtual Machine. I am definitely considering installing it through Bootcamp. I am just wondering how it is with games and its compatibility with things that were working on XP, especially games.

4 OS On One Computer whats the easiest way?
Xarex replied to Grafitti's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I did something like this..wasn't that I just had 4 operating systems on my computer, but I ran them all at once too. I was able to do it with VMWare. I had Spaces/Expose set up so i could scroll from screen to screen and on each screen was a different OS.My computer was slowed down a bit, but it was fun to do. And although I only showed a few people, it was more just to get attention and looks which lasted for about a 5 minute conversation and then never spoken about again. But I could definitely see a use for keeping one open. I do it with Mac & Windows. Occasionally I'd add another and have Linux running as well. Drains battery like crazy but if your plugged into a source, there's no worries. I guess its really just useful if you are trying to access a certain program that runs and pertains to that OS only. Fun times though!
