Internet Explorer 9 Drops Xp Users But Adds Html5 Support
TomCol replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in The Internet
Internet Explorer 9 is supposed to be much faster than the previous versions, and the beta out does Google Chrome by a long way in a speed test. If the results are right, it's nice that Microsoft have finally seen a need to improve their products, as IE9 will also have excellent HTML5 support. I won't be using this though, as I'm an XP/Ubuntu user but perhaps others will switch back from Firefox. -

If youre ill with a cold then that's normal, but if you've been like this for a few weeks and it show no signs of clearing up, then perhaps it's time to go to the doctor.

So I'm guessing that you could use a stylus with the iPhone screens if the tip was filled with liquid similar to blood? Would that make the screen detect it?

As HTML5 supports a drawing canvas, it's become easier to make Flash like games without using a plugin. I havn't explored much about using the <canvas> tag, but from what I gather, it's an easy way of drawing straight into the browser. This means that images, lines and colours can be put straight into the screen with very little effort. Javascript is used to manipulate this, so it's simple to produce a graphical output in your webpage. If you've used the canvas to make games, please post here.

How To Get Rid Of "silent Death Spammer"?
TomCol replied to web_designer's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Baniboy is right. Svchost has nothing to do with Yahoo messenger and ending the process could corrupt your computer registry. Clearly the hacker is preying on people who aren't really knowledgeable about computers. -
I got a PS2 a few years ago but most of the good games I had were ones Dad borrowed from a colleague at work. My favourite one was the original Ratchet and Clank, which I didn't complete (I got stuck at this stupid level where this room fills up with water and you have to escape. If you know how to do it please tell me ). I still have the game saved on the memory card and I hope to buy it this summer.

Mycent - It's Still Inactive [resolved]
TomCol replied to BuffaloHelp's topic in Alerts, News & Announcements
Alternatively, you could look on the good side: when the system works again, you'll have loads more myCENTsI was wondering what the value of each myCENT is in posts. How many would I get for writing something this length? -
The blue logo in the top left of the forums would probably go well on the home page, but I don't know if there's an image that hasn't been cut off.

I'm no good with making names. Either go for something simple like Friends Network or use a name generator.

Which Os Is Good/better/best For Netbooks?
TomCol replied to The Simpleton's topic in Operating Systems
If you don't mind waiting, I would suggest seeing what ChromeOS will be like. As it's going to be specially designed for netbooks, it will likely be faster and easier to use on those systems. As I have only ever used desktops, I'm indifferent to what is out there but it's still interesting what is being made. -
I use eBuddy mobile quite a bit. It's useful for chatting on a phone or game console but you need to refresh the page to get new messages, which is a bit of a shame. Ajax XMLhttpRequest would have been much better...

When I made a site, I appeared low in the search list and the description on Google was just the first few words in my site, which was absolute gibberish when viewed on one line. When you use the <meta> tag to set a description, Google uses the contents of that instead. I find this much more useful, as you can easily choose what text you want to appear when your site is searched for.

I've heard that you can use an infra ref filter in front of a digital camera to take special photos, and then merge them with real colour ones to produce stunning results.I don't have a filter or powerful camera so I can't try it out, but I was wondering if anyone has tried it. If so, please link to your pictures!

There is a website called Bookcrossing (http://www.bookcrossing.com/) where you can get and give books to random people. It works by just leaving a book in a random place and posting on the site where it is. Someone then comes and picks it up, logs it on the site and leaves it somewhere else. My sister is unnaturally obsessed with this for some reason .

What Is The Best Way To Avoid Spams In Your Website?
TomCol replied to web_designer's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Sorry, I meant if the spammer goes to school, they can just evade the IP ban by using a different computer. I've never used wordpress so I don't know what you can do, but then I would code my own blog system anyway! -
