How To Create Smallest Website

Recommended Posts

wouldn't the smallest website on earth just be a blank index.html document? or "home.htm" would be better as its less characters, I don't see any other way then to make a web browser that can read compressed pages.

It depends because smallest could mean smallest web files, or just the smallest visible website. Like you could upload a microdot and make that as your website

Yeah what do you mean by smallest? Like if you mean the fastest load times a simple text based site will obviously load faster than one with a bunch of graphics. Also, the more text on a page, the longer it will take to load because the html file will be larger. If you mean just file size, you would just have a html file with absolutely nothing in it thus a white page would be shown. This would absolutely be as small of a file as one could ever have for a website.

Let's start a trend to make small compact sites that have function with less junk.More targeted helps. Like one of my sites was just supposed to be a portfolio page for graphics designs that I would use to win bids for freelance design projects. Now I realize it's a good experience visiting a compact site with fewer angles. Suppose I do another compact site for showcasing website designs, use a different name and make that another "division" of Whatever Media and so on...

You are still very general of what you want to get.

By example, I can upload a site with a 20MB of code and 1GB of SQL database.

But, for Microsoft, this kind of size of data, is just a piece of crap. Sure they have a large code and database size.

If you can tell us what do you have in mind about of a small website, just a simply html page, a php/sql site or something.

Or what is the idea of have a small website; what do you wanna show in it. A creative person can do a small piece of art like the site that Kubi puts for us of what is a smal, very small website.

Make a blank .html. That's it :P Heh, I'm joking B) You could embed the CSS into the HTML, without external file. Also, you could not use graphics, I recommend mixing the blue with white, red with white and black, black with red etc. Hope I have helped B)

@samarsurf,you have to be a bit more specific.. what exactly do you mean by the smallest website....Smallest in the total Size or very less in contents??If its contents, only the index page without any contents will be the one...@hitmanblood,Yep...you are right. No point.

Easy to solve. The smallest site would be a site with one purpose. Which is search? Small yet powerful. Just one vertical stretched box on a blank page. All white. Tap enter to start the search. If it's about data. No space is being used. The enter button simply request mysql to retrieve data.
