They Will Never Find A Cure For Aids

Recommended Posts

I know im so optimistic aren't I? But its like everyone says "oh they will find a cure soon" and all this bs, but they probably wont. I mean the HIV, is very smart and tricky. Its always changing, and no strand [as in strands in inviduals] is the same as another, unless probably it comes from the same person, but because everyones body reacts to it differently, its never the same really. I just dont think they will find a cure...i mean they have ideas on how to maintain it, but its changed so much since the first case in america in what 1981?

It's more or less a problem with nation. If everybody didnt get bent out of shape every single time something happened, more progress could be made quickly. For example, 1 of the bills for stem cell research was looked down upon because it would be considered abortion. For a nation that wants something so badly, it puts up to many restrictions. Here's a tip America, Beggers aren't Choosers!

I don't really know. I like to think they will find a cure for AIDS or something to atleast neutralize it to keep it from doing anything. I mean we keep advancing in technology they might find something and you never can tell what is going to come out next. My friend's dad has found something to stop the growth of cancer so I'm sure something can be done about AIDS it might just take a lot longer than one might think.

I would, like them to find a cure for AIDS. But i am also against stem cell research, and animal testing. Which makes me kind of bad, because i am so into science, and i want to support science, but another part of me, is like saying that is so wrong :). I just don't think any one beings (animals, humans, fetuses), are more important then the other, i mean you kill like how many lab rats a day to end up with nothing, for several months, to several years. I do hate one thing also, is the fact that instead of scientists working together, they are working by themselves trying to find the cure faster, when really they should all work together. Im atleast glad, that when being told you have HIV, it is no longer a death sentence.

Wow quite interesting actually. I was just reading a book on conspirisies (dont know hot to spell it!) and one of the points brought up on there was Aids. It was first found in the USA with gay men ... I wont go into the details but you all probably know anyway! Some of the points were that the US government were trying to get rid of all gays and blacks. Another point was that the USSR were trying to get rid of all Jews and Blacks. (Hence spreading to Africa).Apparently they offered a vaccine and APPARENTLY it wasnt vaccince, just more of the AIDS virus. The band Foo Fighters are behind an organisation that believes there is no such thing as AIDS and its just 3 different treatable illnesses that the government wont treat for...

The virus isn't the same in Africa, as it is here [america] or even anywhere else. Its actually a different type, of the same virus. I believe, that the one here, is more deadly then the one in africa, but we have more resources then they do, and its a lot of kids who have it there, so it appears more deadly, and more people die from it there, then they do here. There are many conspiracies on HIV. There are also a lot of govermental cover ups, but obviously they wont admit or bring up these things. The book and the band plays on, brings up a lot of things from both Africa, the gay community, and politics that all have to do with AIDS. The movie, just mainly showed the scientific views of the book. By the way though yes africans are "black", the african americans , are really no longer apart of africa, they are american and many are mixed with either/or both cacausion blood, and/or american indian blood. So america probably didnt have much to do with the AIDS epidemic in africa. Honestly, until people :: cough the goverment cough :: start opening up about some information, the truth may never be found.

Conspiranoia I'll bet is the book you're talking about...But seriously, unless scientists open up their minds to new ways of looking at things, and cross moral boundaries nobody will find a cure.

Yeah...

Anyway, Jasper, the reason that all scientists don't group together to research cures is because not all of the ideas work and not all the scientists are needed. Having a hundred scientists working on a project that could be done by five will not make cell cultures grow any faster or results be any more accurate. It's all a time issue, not a personnel one.

As for lab testing on lab rats, not all vaccine ideas work, thus the need for so many test animals. The tests must be performed on some living creature similar to humans, though, or else no vaccines would be created and millions more humans would die than would have to. During World War II, the Nazis got quick results from experiments by avoiding the animal testing and other experimental/developmental stages and operating directly on humans (in that case, Jews). Many died, but they got fast results and no animals were killed. Would you prefer that? Someone or something has to be tested to see if vaccines work, and animals are the best choice. They're quick to breed/grow, they are not self-conscious (sentient), and they are lower on the food chain. Are you a vegetarian as well? If so, I'd just like to point out that animals eat other animals as well, and we are animals, albet more intelligent ones (in some cases, anyway). Besides, the testing animals aren't treated like dirt. They are given as good a life as they could hope for. They are given good food and are kept clean and healthy. They return the favor by allowing themselves to be tested upon (which, in the case that something goes wrong, they would be put down and out of their misery), since they don't really offer any other purpose (they're not pets, after all). It's a better life than most wild animals could dream of.

As for stem cell research, I don't see what the problem is as long as the testing is done on pre-aborted fetuses (meaning babies that were aborted anyway - you might as well use what's left for the good of humanity while you can).

I believe, just like any disease and virus, that the cure is found in good health. Many vitamins and minerals help prevent many kinds of diseases, and even cure them. No drugs should be required to "fight off" any virus, or syndrome. If you improve your immune system, and maintain good health, your body should be capable of handling the attacks caused by the HIV virus, and/or any other kinds of infection. After a certain period of time, the body should be able to overpower the virus, and, in turn, quite possibly fully eliminate the virus.Usually, if you're not tested positive for HIV, you will not be diagnosed with AIDS. Usually, to be diagnosed with AIDS, you have to be HIV positive, and have certain other symptoms--like, a decline in CD4 immune cells, a drop in T4 cells, tuberculosis, diarrhea, fevers, certain cancers, etc. These other symptoms can be easily taken care of. There are many HIV+ patients out there that take no drugs, and are eating healthy and maintaining their health, and are living normal lives.

err.... no one has ever been cured of the HIV virus, and I kinda doubt that good health can prevent it. You point about how good health can prevent many diseases is a good one but not for this case. HIV evolves so that it can defeat most cures. So that while one may work now, it won't in the near future.

I am not saying all scientists need to work on one thing. I meant that scientists who are working on finding a cure for something, should work together instead of apart. Like everyone trying to find a cure for HIV/AIDS should stay in touch more, instead of isolating themselves.

Yes, i am a vegetarian.

On the stem cell research, a fetus is NOT meant to be used for science. It may not be a fully developed person, but it has rights too.

If animals, could verbally speak to us, i highly doubt they'd say to us "I really enjoy all this food you give me, while i have this lovely ear growing on my face" yeah...seriously i dont think so.

Well, depending on the person...i guess one could help maintain good health , but eventually the HIV virus, will come and well..get you.

Trust me though, i know alot about HIV/AIDS, and i know how it works, and the symptoms. You can be tested positive for full blown AIDS, without being tested positive for HIV. You might never be tested, until after it has progressed into AIDS. Also sometimes, you are tested for HIV and it doesn't show up, but you might still have it, so its best to be tested every six months. A lot of medical books state that it takes up to eight years to get AIDS, that is not true, perhaps the average is eight years, but in some cases it just takes a year, or a few years. It honestly depends on the person.

Definitely varies from case to case some don't experience symptoms for years then all of a suddem BOOM but for others it doesn't take long for it to act up.Personally I think there will be a cure in due time. Science is just becoming too advanced and sooner or later a cure will be found. Just look at all the other diseases that at one point we did not have a cure for. Now this virus is a tricky one, probably the most trickiest out of any virus we know of, but we have so many people working on it. We are able to CLONE things, now that's advanced science. If we are able to duplicate a living organism, then we are sure enough talented to cure this disease. It may take a long time, but it will happen.

What are you sayinhg, there are cure for A.I.D.S., you are very uninformed on this matter, and if i had the time i would explain it to you, and also to the rest of the members here.I guess that a few lines to try to explain won't explain as i want, but i'll try.AIDS has a cure, but it is not a cure for all mutations of the aids virus, you see, aids has many mutations, it can change in a favorable environment, and the most favorable is inside the human beeing body, the cels, the blood. When you go make a blodd exam, at least in Europe, your doctor can include the aids blodd text exam, and there are 2 tests that they will make on your blood to see if it shows up positive, they will test your blood for positive aids-1 test and aids-2, they will test your blood for those 2 aids mutations. But there are more mutations, in africa are a lot of mutations, why, because people with aids1 have sexual relations with people that have aids2, and in that environment, aids will change to another mutation, so that is why, when 2 persons have aids, they still can't or shouldn't have sexual relations because the aids virus will change, and so it will grow stonger, making the drugs those people are taking, useless to this new mutation.People like : "Elton John" ; "Magic Johnson" and so on, their doctors/scientists found a cure for their mutation, not a 100% cure, but now, their aids virus in their blood were reduced to 0% .Today, aids is not mortal, it is not a mortal illness, hepatite B is way more dangerous and mortal, and just for you to know, hepatite b is a 5 level virus, and aids is a 3 level virus, it means that hepatite b can spread in all ways, and aids just in a few ways, 3 to be exact.Hope this gave you an idea of the current reality, even poor people don't die because of aids, at least in europe, but that doesn't happen in africa, there there is no money for none of the poor people.India is making enormous advances in this area of research, their drigs are much less expensive and have the same quality has the drugs in europe and america.Just one more thing, i don't know this because of any special reason, if you know what i mean, i just know this information because a few years back, i had sexual relations with a girl without a condom, and that scared me for a while, so i got curious to know what could happen to me if that girl had aids, anyway, i got lucky, the girl didn't have aids nor in the next 6 and 12 months, but it scared me to death.Even today, when i go for a blood test, i tremble with fear, and the latest test was last month, boy i was scared, i don't have nothing, and i don't want to have in the future, so i advice you to all use condoms, even when you love the girl, you need both to have blood tests, at least for six months, and then you can do it without the condoms, that's what i did, and today i am feeling good!

I don?t know if they?ll get to a cure, but let?s admit that having AIDS nowadays is not so terrible nowadays. Of course is a dramatical situation but you have some life hope and I remember that only a decade ago if you caught AIDS you soon become terminal. So I think that following some medical instructions you can live long with it, but bthe real drama is that African people don?t have the meds and retrovirals to fight the disease. And that is the real shame in all of this, we've got knowledge but don?t let poor people benefit from it, letting them die instead. Pharmaceutical industry is a big mafia.

Put it this way:

If we don't test on animals, we have to test on humans, right? Now testing on criminals, rapists, murderes (sp?) and the such isn't too bad, but testing on your own species is like a form of cannibalism :D
And, sorry to get a bit snappy at you, if you don't want it tested on animals, and as we know it needs to be tested some how, why not put yourself up for testing? :)

Anyways...I doubt they'll cure it, in my lifetime anyways, but I think they'll be able to neutralise it, as someone said earlier. And in the (almost close) words of Chris Rock:
"They've not found a cure for Atheletes Foot! They're not gunna cure AIDs!" :P
