lory21 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2009 Recently I find a software really good, you can use it to buid a site like YouTube, which means it can help you to convert videos to FLV format automatically. And it also can edit video, like trim, add watermark etc. Anyway there are the key features: Can encode Flash videos by Flash, Flash 8 with Alpha. Can generate MP4 files that playable by Flash Player! Convert videos in all formats to FLV. Can sequence several videos into one FLV file. Picture grabber Object & FLV to SWF Object. Thumbnail pictures available with no conversion. Can assign the process to a specific processor in a multi-processor operation system. Under interactive mode. source: http://www.video-to-flash.com/flash_video_encoder_console/

takerraj 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2009 Instead of spending thousands of dollars, I would create a wordpress site with a theme that suites the requirements and put the links of Youtube on my blog. There are few advantages with this. Wordpress is free and themes are numerous, so you can get the one that suites you. By uploading videos on Youtube we can save bandwidth and disk space if the videos are hosted on our servers.

wutske 0 Report post Posted August 12, 2009 Indeed, "free" is rather relative in this case because hosting a video hosting site requires a LOT of cpu usage and a LOT of bandwidth. You're better of hosting your video's on websites like Youtube, Vimeo, ... They have lots of advertisement contracts to cover the costs of hosting several servers at different locations with a lot of bandwith available.Btw, €1000 is a lot, with a little bit of scripting and mencoder you could probably do it for a lot less
TheDisturbedOne 1 Report post Posted October 2, 2009 Try phpmotion. I'm not sure how it works since I have never used it, but I have heard good things about it. It might not convert the files to FLV (I'm not 100% sure it does or doesn't), but it provides a nice interface for sharing videos on your website.
HannahI 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2009 You could use JS to randomly pick a video to display.
GrumbleBall 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2010 I have tried installing PHPMotion before. It looked extremely good and not that much different to youtube, however, when I was installing it I found that there was some PHPShield program attached to it that needed to be installed as well. I had never heard of this before and wasn't 100% sure to trust it.Does anyone know whether this PHPShield can be trusted not to contain anything nasty such as virus, adware or spyware? if I know that it's clean I might install it on my home computer to see what it's like. imjjss 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2011 I think hosting vedios to youtube or other sites , then, embeding them on your website, is more convinient. By the way, seems there are several vedio hosting sites provide revenue sharing program which you can earn some money by embeding their vedios. Some sites require an amount of page view to be qualified as publisher, some sites don't require page views, only ads clicks counts. Maybe it's worth trying. Anyway, I haven't tried them yet, can't provide useful insights.
iGuest 3 Report post Posted October 21, 2012 Well i think if you dont have unlimited resource , you can use youtube for your most use.i have seen a lots of website embedded you tube and its also fast and dont waste your resources, and making your site load faster. So if you are going to open video sharing then its ok, but if you are not then just go with youtube.
