dhanesh1405241511 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 Google just launched a Website Creation Tool. Its Similar to Geocities but adding an AJAX flavour brings out the best. This is still in BETA, so dont get your hopes too far The registrations are kinda held up due to heavy usage, but they now ask for your email ID so that when they are ready for more intakes, they would mail you a link or an invitation. Oh, I forgot the main point of all this excitement .. 100MB Free Space and NO ADs !! Have a look at it HERE Regards Dhanesh.
Sarah81 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 Wow, that's pretty sweet. I'm there now at the page creator ... wondering if there's any way that I can code my own pages (raw HTML) instead of having to use their page editor screens.Hmm ... even if I'm stuck using their editors, I can't complain about that much ad-free space. What will Google come up with next? yordan 10 Report post Posted February 25, 2006 (edited) I like the principle.Google gives you freely a virgin page, and a design tool for helping you creating your first page, and a lot of templates for helping you change the look and feel.Did you see how the sample templates are ? Did you notice the "Loren Ipsum" appearing on each page ? Exactly like on PowerPoint templates! ... wondering if there's any way that I can code my own pages (raw HTML) instead of having to use their page editor screens.Should be no problem ! If you open the "edit html" tag, you see the html code. So, if you paste your own code, it should display your own code pages. After working ten minutes, a very kind sorry message :Google Page Creator is having a little trouble right now. This is not because of anything you did; it's just a little hiccup in our system that will hopefully go away soon. We apologize for the inconvenience, and recommend you try reloading this page. error.session.openWow! there is now an "Edit" Button in Xisto forum ! Really nice when you forget to tell something !I just noticed that the problem in the "change layout" menu, no problem in the "change look" menu.Unfortunately, the "edit html" tag seems to disappear as soon as you choose a look. szupie 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 I tried logging in with my Google account yesterday, but they wouldn't even let in people who are already members. It told me wait just like everybody else, so I said, "You know what, **** it," because it didn't give me special privileges. But seriously... Since they say they're heavily used, I decided not to get in the waiting list, because I wouldn't really use it once I get my spot. But I still want to see what it looks like. Unfortunately, they didn't let us see a sample page. If anyone has access, could you link me so I can see how it looks?

Quatrux 4 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 This is really great, they let me login by using my GMail account, but when I agreed with the ToS, I got this message:Sorry, your web browser is not yet supported.I am using Opera as my primary browser and now they support only the new version of Firefox and Internet Explorer, well I think Opera will be supported soon too. I dunno, I guess they just have too many empty servers, and they want to use all the extra resources . Gmail's free space makes sense, since they display ads in the page when you're reading your mails. But Page Creator doesn't. Maybe it's just a promotion to get more people to know about Google (even though virtually everyone in the world knows Google).
yordan 10 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 I tried logging in with my Google account yesterday, but they wouldn't even let in people who are already members. I just tried again, and I could log in.However, remember this : http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ They only accept the latest version of IE6 or FireFox. Remember it's still a beta-test, so everything is not fully functionnal yet.Something else I hate : they give you 100 Mest space, you are free for filling your space. However, you cannot remove anything from your donwloaded files space. So, you want to try something with a picture, you freely uplaod your picture and link it to your page. You have a look at your page, you don't like it, you remove the link to the picture. But you cannot remove the picture any more.I hope they will fix that soon. evion 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 Something about the "Edit HTML" function is that when i try to edit the HTML right with the default beginning page, all i get for the default HTMK is a <p> Where did the rest of the page go to? Also in php-nuke, this is an extremely annoying problem. When i edit a page with HTML, then i save it and try to edit it, i cannot edit the existing HTML, instead, i have to write a new one. I've learned from my first page that i created and have taken the liberty to saving a backup for all the pages i make in txt format within my hard drive. But the whole process is very tedious and i was just wondering how i can fix that. Sorry if this seems out of topic but this topic just triggered my memory to put my lazy fingers in action to actually type out my problem . Thanks!
yordan 10 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 @techocian : the "edit html" was only for the center of the page : not the header, not the footer, not the side, just the empy part in the mittle, where you probably had nothing except typed "enter", which gave a <p> in the html code part. pomjim 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 I have had a look at it, and personally I think it will be ideal for those people who do not know anything about html, but who would like some sort of website.100 mgs size though I think is odd, when you consider they give you 2gbs for your email, I would have thought it better if it was the other way round, a website with 2gbs would be better.
