finaldesign1405241487 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 Did you know that you can take a matchbox, take all the matches out and put a webserver in... How? Visit this link.- it's a world smallest web server... I dunno how they manage to put all the code inthere, but they did. I would love to get one...
abhiram 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 Now, that's amazing... I've never seen anything like it. Imagine... a whole webserver in a matchbox? I guess with time, they'll even make it more versatile by giving it a USB port and being able to upload and download files... hehe ... maybe call it a pen-server. yordan 10 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 Great ! Really promissing.Did you read the paper in the link ? They even give a live demonstration of their webserver ! Unfortunately, the link http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ in their demo server does not work, but it could have been very funny.Yordan
szupie 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 I bet it's going to be really slow.I might just be a collector's item, since people who run servers would mostly care about the quality and the price.
hazeshow 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 Ok, might be cool, but I prefer to have a BIG Server: The one and only IBM Netfinity 5500. Can't be stolen too easy, gives more warmth than an oven and can be used as a safe chair for over-weighted people. Don't need no matchbox
abhiram 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2005 IBM Netfinity 5500Jeez... what is that thing? Looks like something out of a sci-fi movie . hehe... a chair and an oven huh? Now, that's being resourceful .

hazeshow 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2005 I really call one of these my own and I love it! You can get them cheap at ebay, but postage fees will be high of course. When the 5500er came out, it cost more than 8.000 $, it has Dual P III, RAID and hotplug SCSI disks. But before you get one at ebay talk to your girlfriend! She might not feel the same enthusiasm.GreetingZ

finaldesign1405241487 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 15 $ ???  Man, you can almost buy a used Netfinity 5500 for 15 $ !!! She's absolutely right to fight with you.  Or what was the domain name? 5500.com ?  <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no... domain is http://www.final-design.net/ - it's acive already... take a look anyway man I live in croatia, I don't own an creditcard so I must buy a domain via local bastard companies, and they charge their services at double of what it's worth... So, there was no choice for me than to buy it for that money here...
hazeshow 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2005 Hi Final, your site is looking real good! Congratulations! I don't have a credit card either, otherwise I would buy domains in South America. I have heard that there are companies selling .com-domains for 1 US-$ a year. I don't know whether this is true, and sorry ... I know the original title of this thread is "the SMALLEST webserver" and not "the cheapest domain". GreetingZ
EdgeXC 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2005 That's pretty amazing. I guess as technology continues to progess, things will continue to get smaller and smaller. Which means I will lose all of the things that I buy in the future. :-PThat kind of reminds me of the world's smallest mp3 player. I think it's called mobilBLU but I'm not completely sure. It can sit on the tip of your index finger. It can hold around 100 songs, like an ipod shuffle, and runs around the same price.P.S. - I don't have a girlfriend, so I may purchase whatever I feel like. :-P
finaldesign1405241487 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2005 hmm, I found something but can't really find any info about that mp3 player on google... Anyway, seems cool to me. A mp3 player like that. It must be very hard to operate it when it's so small, huh? I mean, that thing must have microscopic buttons...
abhiram 0 Report post Posted September 6, 2005 P.S. - I don't have a girlfriend, so I may purchase whatever I feel like. :-PYou need some greens to purchase something my friend . Of course, in your case, you will be saving on your girlfriend.
