Firefox all the way :P

Several reasons

Free & Opensource

Immensely extensible - very easy to create extensions with minimal knowledge of XUL & Javascript

1000 times more secure (relatively) that 99.9% of other browsers in the market

Security patches are announced the moment a hole is discovered

Huge online community & support forums

Extremely lightweight - loads in a jiffy

Tabbed browsing - the best of all :P

And the list goes on..........

Ditto, Firefox all the way... For half the time, anyway :PWe have a dual boot, and the internet is connected to the linux portion of it (though to access it on Windows XP it only requires the unplugging and plugging of a cable) to make it "safer", there being a few more viruses made for windows systems than unix ones. There's a few problems though - the ISP has something called "DansGuardian", which I find immensely annoying. It does not block pornography or illegal content, it bans sites like eBay (or did, until I complained and got it taken off the list) and bans sites with something it calls "weight phrase limit exceeded". The hell. Anyhow. The DansGuardian seems not to apply to the little known or used Konqueror, which has subsequently become my mostly used browser. The problem with Konqueror is it won't display flash or java.. Even though we have both installed. So the end verdict is.. Kill the ISP.Btw.. I forgot to mention.. Don't all of them except IE have tabbed browsing?

Internet Explorer for a long, long time, just because I didn't had any other browser, I've downloaded FireFox recently and I like it much more. It's just much better. btw, why are you asking? There are several other threads like this.-=jeroen=-

Oh great but my Fire for Loads very slowly.! donno the reason so thought its not that nice.! Can someone suggest me a skin for firefox which can be identical to Opera? :P

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

When compared to IE - firefox does load slower. But that is because the whole executable has to be loaded into RAM and then run - unlike IE, where almost 70% of the code is already in the RAM .. Windows makes sure that part of code is ever-present in the RAM, and that's what your Windows Explorer also uses in the background for faster operation.

What you see when you load IE, is NOT a full-blown browser, but a mere GUI to those API calls which are already residing in the memory. That explains the faster loads.

If firefox was allowed to pre-load a massive part of its code right at runtime using one of the system level privilege rungs, then the load time would be almost the same as IE if not faster.

Oh yea I know WHY it takes longer, its just insane on this computer here at work haha. Like I hit the exe and just walk away for a couple minutes lmao. But once its loaded it runs smoothly enough so I'd still rather use it then IE...didn't mozilla proper use to have a preloader? Or am I on crack?... I seem to have memories of it having a quick launcher from the taskbar....hmmm...they should make one of those built into FF

I use Firefox because of the tabbed browsing.I used to be a fan of SBC Yahoo browser because you could access all the features of the yahoo site by just clicking the icons on the top of the browser, but it crashed alot and I moved on to Firefox and fell in love with it

IE may be a security nighmare but it still has its advantages. Like handling all those plugins. and ofcourse its able to run all the sites ..including ones with ActiveX controls. Now I know its not an excuse to vot for a browser. But my point is that IE isnt that bad after all ..If keep it patching its as unsecure as FireFox. Also some times virus writers focus on IE exploit cause there are too many of those out there.(i know its not just an )If i were to suggest to microsoft on their browser strategy I would tell them to be more focused on innovation than on monopolizing. Lets see how IE7 works it out.

I voted for Internet Explorer - ain't no other! :P - still the fastest! - extremely good looking!- full operating system integration! :P I don't like/need tabbed browsing, it only takes space away from my monitor, and I don't like/need pop-up-blocker and all that stuff. It's really nice that so many people are happy with Firefox, but me I'm happy with my good old IE. YES! :P GreetingZ

For me, I've only ever had interaction with Internet Explorer and Netscape...Netscape was always the slower loading of the two, but, then again, this was a couple years ago. I've heard a lot of good things about Firefox, but have never really heard nuch more about it other than it's exceptionality to IE. What exactly is it about Firefox that makes it so much better than Internet Explorer, aside from the thumbing your nose at the big burecratic company owned by the multibillionaire tycoon?
