Recommended Posts

In case you don't already know,.info domain are getting cheaper and cheaper. Some of the registrars are even offerring them free for one year. I got some of my .info domain from domainsite.com for free. But appearently they are charging 0.99$ for one year now. You can get them for free from https://www.domaindiscount24.com/en till the end of the month

I think they are doing that as a part of ".info" promotion campaign.I've registered one today, but actually that isn't working quite well, because it doesn't redirect users to my real site with another domain...

It's not my problem ! I've redirected all the info domain provided by domainsdiscount24.com well. Try it: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/.

Yeah well, I didn't want to pay for it after a year, so I registered for a .tk domain:

http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html?lang=en

There is a different b/w dot.tk and .info domain. The dot.tk is merely a redirecting domain provider., while domaindiscount24.com offers the real DNS service for free. This means that if you have the host but don't know where to put it in, domaindiscount24.com is the best choice.

What's the difference between redirecting domain provider and the real DNS service? Does the former can only be supported by the provider such as dot.tk, and could not be moved to other place and the real DNS could be placed at any place?

The only reason they are doing one year free .info domains is because once it runs out they want you to buy it, or buy another domain, its all a market ploy, although its usefull, its not very helpful if its linked to nameserver incase you cnat get another free one, i get my free domains from .uni.cc i dont know the real site for it though.

Thanks, so http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ is just the same as http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. The only difference is the word size need to type, is it right?

Considering the real domain address, I agree with some others who said that it should be paid to get a stable one. But to us, who run a non-commercial site, I think all of them works, and we may change the site to stable one termly.

With the welcome content, the friends could make a bookmark with our site, so the typing will be done by the computers, so don't worry about the URL any more.

The information and service provide at the internet may be free, but I don't think all of them should be free. Everyone should make living, right?Without paying by money, we may exchange the time/work for them, as what we are doing here. :)
