I use it mostly for web stuff.

 

The best would be any kind of 3d program, the easiest, I'm not sure.

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ has good tutorials. i don't know for sure whether they have for Imageready, but they should. tutorials range from extreme beginner, to very advanced.

It's used for web graphics and simple web banner. For animation, you need to use a program that's designed for that purpose. e.g 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D.

 

For 2D animation in a small outfit, flash, toom boom studio, the tab seems to be more suitable than using image ready.
