  1. FreeHand MX had some problems with Tiger (OS X). If you are using FH for your workflow, you have to wait till MM work on the patch which is highly impossible IMHO. $129 doesn't sound cheap as most of its new functions are bells and whistles. The best you can get is a true 64-bit OS that's all.
  2. MM is cool, it revolutionize the web with its "flash" software.
  3. Well Freehand and Illustrator, fireworkd and ImageReady are "duplication" products in a sense. Rememer Adobe was prevent from buying Adlus FreeHand....
  4. After Adobe successfully acquired Macromedia, will Fireworks and Freehand got killed or sold off?
  5. Maybe you can use layers to align or usee CSS to align to the position that you want. Do a search on how to do that, you should be able to find a number of sites teaching you how to do it.enjoy, cheers
  6. Everybody just loves Photoshop beit hobbist or professional, 2D or 3D. It just got the punch! In May Adobe is shipping Photoshop CS 2... well look out for it.
  7. Discreet has began shipping the highly antipicated Combustion 4. Overview of new features are as follows:Discreet?s Diamond Keyer? the second generation of sophisticated keying algorithms derived from flame, Discreet?s Academy Award?-winning online visual effects systemTime-Warp?a fully key-frameable, time-remapping operator for quickly creating slow-motion and speed-up effectsB-spline vector shapes and new point-grouping?faster, more efficient rotoscopingNew optimized ?Fast Gaussian Blur?Custom capsules?create and save encapsulated single or grouped operator nodes and build yourself a library of effects to share and re-useGbuffer builder?enables custom building of Discreet?s Rich Pixel Format (RPF) data structures from bitmap files for more extensive use of combustion RPF nodesMerge operator?new optimized operator to quickly merge 2 layers of the same size using any combustion transfer nodeInterface enhancements?edit-operator, navigation, filtering and compare tool improvements just to name a fewNew file import/export options?import of images into color mixer, import ASE (ASCII Scene Export) camera targets from 3ds max, import Windows Media, Open EXR compatible outputEnhanced paint?new paint tools, grids & rulers, B-spline in paint and new customized brushes
  8. Professionals will probably use PS over PSP. It's the industry standard tools but it come at a cost. Average consumer don't really need a tool as powerful as PS. A good shareware is sometimes more than enough.
  9. Of course as PS is a much complicated program. My point is when working with bigger images, fireworks tends to slows down after working with it for sometime and the speed in manipulating images is much slower than in PS. Fireworks do have it's strong points in creating web graphics. Is there a way in Windows to make Fireworks work faster? Or just have to wait till MM improved its speed. I still before MX2004, fireworks was a real slow program.
  10. It's used for web graphics and simple web banner. For animation, you need to use a program that's designed for that purpose. e.g 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D. For 2D animation in a small outfit, flash, toom boom studio, the tab seems to be more suitable than using image ready.
  11. Just click on the brush tool and start painting. you can then change ita attributes at the propertise box below the screen and from the pop-up button you can chage the attributes to different brushes and strokes. I isreally easy to use, just that you have to explore and use it often. Enjoy fireworks! cheers.
  12. FreeHand is the most usable version so far on Mac OS9. It's a pity that FHMX on OS X is full of bugs. FH seems to be in a slumbering mode. MM might as well sell it to other company that is willing to develope it.
  13. I find that fireworks runs very slowly in PC.Is this due to CPU speed or the program itslef. My photoshop runs quite fast on my PC running the fireworks too.I am running on WIN XP PRO, 1GB RAM, with 2 HDD.thanks
  14. in terms of imaging, nothing comes close to photoshop.Fireworks excels in integration with dreamweaver and flash. You can edit images back and fro with 1 click and so on. It's really a big time saver for me.You can use fireworks to create ppop-up menu which you cannot do in photoshop.think that's about all...
