FouGilang 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2009 I'm thinking on keeping my website alive, without have to annoy my visitor with bunch of advertisment in any meaning (my site is indonesian, so that wont do anyway), or uploading my files to rapidshare and the likes.Do you have any suggestions? My current site and domain hosting cost me IDR 250k / year (about US$25), so i have to make, like, $2 / month
Baniboy 3 Report post Posted October 29, 2009 Yes, you can write reviews, and if your content is good, you could also ask for donations(probably won't work). You can promote other websites and get some that way.(well that's advertising..)I don't think text ads annoy people too much, really. You just have to place them right. Why ads "won't do anyway"? Sure there are some Indonesian companies you could advertise. Google adsense might also be available in Indonesia. Check it out.
FouGilang 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2009 Google ads wont do, simply because they dont click and kind of irrelevant, i remember using it for 2 month and i got about 5 clicks only (and i think that was because they want to help me...) --'If i could use something to make them click without breaking google's rules, that would be great :(I doubt if there is any indonesian companies who want to put their ads on a 2-month-ago-website, but... Maybe it just me who didnt search it harder, i'll try again later tomorrow :)OhAnd can i use cpanel's awstats log to convince the company? I dunno wether it's true or not though, 50k hits from indonesia kind of amaze me o.o
Nameless_ 1 Report post Posted October 29, 2009 FouGllang, like Baniboy said, you can ask for donations... but seriously, it really wouldn't matter whether there are ads in your website or not, I think. Commercial advertising has been so popular that I really don't think anyone cares anymore whether there are ads on their website or any websites that they are visiting anyway.Other methods of making revenue from your website? Well... I don't know... I really don't know what you should do next. I was about to suggest you to write some content for other websites and earn some money that way, but if that is the case you can just not have a website anyway... so I don't get the point of that...As I said, if your site is very popular, then donations are the best way to go. But don't put the button their if your site isn't all that popular, because the chances are that no one will donate anything and you will just look like a beggar on the internet virtual street. mahesh2k 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2009 @mahesh2kI'm pretty new at this, mind if you explain more? Sure. If you want to earn other than ads then you've to do real hard work. I mean you need to struggle literally to make money. Other than maintaining blog and site. Let me break it one by one as i posted list in my earlier post.1) Donations - We're helping internet by posting good tutorial or content. So if we're not earning from ads then we need to get something to keep site alive (hosting fees etc). So ask for donations, don't hesitate. You're doing a good job of posting quality content then you've right to ask for donations. Some generous readers do give donations. Don't feel uncomfortable for asking for donations.2) Consulting - Let's assume you're programmer and you're posting good tutorial on your blog. So there are chances that people are interested in your service like website design, software development etc. You can add it in portfolio that you accept paid consulting. This is one of the good ways to earn more money from site. Bloggers like chris garret and darren rowse and many other blogger and programmer are doing this.3) Paid job-- You can market your current site on elance or other freelance network and get jobs based on the profile you created. Your site will serve as live example with your resume. Many people prefer website of developers and writers when working with them.4) Paid calls- If you're good at support or telecalling then you can use skype or other IM to call clients and earn per hour consulting fee for your work. Bloggers like yaro stark is good example who is earning thousands from such programs.5) Website as portfolio --When you post your resume in dice or monster. Do include your website as portfolio. This will bring more jobs and clients offer to you. 6) Mailing list-- if you're having blog or forum then you can open mailing list with aweber and add users to it. You can then do affiliate marketing in list or even post good posts+sales can be option.7) Affiliate program-- You can join good forums and promote your affiliate programs from clickbank and paydot com on forum. No need to add affiliate link. You can get individual people from PM by making them interested in your program. 8) Promotion-- You can learn social media skills in month or two and can do job of promoting websites, themes, templates or services and can earn commission. This is different than affiliate marketing. As you're doing it without linkback to sales sites. You're doing this with direct connection with company. There are many other ways that i can add on to this. But i think this is sufficient. Let me know if any suits you else you can ask for other ways i'll see what i can suggest you. FouGilang 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2009 thank you for explaining, great information you have there  so basically if i want to make some real money i have to make it real hard too xD anyway, from your post i see you want to point that "your website is your stepstone to make your income", am i right? it seems that all that in short was "add your site to your portfolio then promote yourself"... looks like i still have much to do and learn before i want to make income without those banner ads

It seems like putting ads on your site is usually the best way to earn money, even if it is just to keep up your hosting or whatever, but I don't really know why you don't want to put any ads up on your site though. Seriously, research has been done on this by many different sites and no one seems to mind about putting ads up on your site... people are so used to seeing ads that they just have a mental block on whether there are ads on their site or not... Of course, you were talking about visual banner advertisements, so I am assuming that you don't want to put the banners up because it would wreck your site... Well, you don't really have to... because you can use other things like Adsense and Biderviser and all that KOntera, Textlinks and other companies to put adds in your site that will blend in perfectly well.  Just my two cents worth. gisellebebegirl 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2009 You can always provide sexual services through your website, and charge on paypal, i do not think there is a way to get revenue without ads, unless you are providing a service, or sellimg something that will give you revenueand well if you cannot run a website without not loosing money, you should consider whether or not you really want to be running a website, just because

webishqiptar 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2009 If you have been checking Wikipedia recently, you will realize they are making a fortune by donations. So that's the only way to earn from a website if you don't want to show ads. Well I'm kinda surprised, if you say you have a site with over 50k and only 5 clicks from google adsense. If you have a good website, google adsense can help you get some revenue, at least to maintain your host and pay for domain every year. I totally agree with everyone here, that making money online is pretty hard and needs lots of effort. You can't make it up with 1 or 2 hours a week. You need hard work just as in the real world. I don't know if it is allowed but you can sell coupons of myCents whichare converted into an hosting account, which you could sell to someone later.
