Microsoft Offers Reward To Catch Worm Maker

Recommended Posts

$250,000 ahahahaha, for anyone who gives info on the creator of a worm ahahahahaha.

How stupid does Microsoft think people are? If you know about a virus/worm/trojan/malware/spyware obviously you will have connections to it as most people don't go bragging about their activities these days unless they are a noob. So it has come to me that whoever designed this worm made sure to hide its tracks in the coding because that is usually the first place they look in trying to find someone. The next part is $250,000 is chump change to the underground because they can make more than that in a day if they get lucky, and with today's users they are all laughing to the banks.

You best move is just to use that money and put it into solving and breaking this worm, because your already spending millions as it is trying to figure it out and finally put a stop to it.

However, Microsoft has provided a nice web page of the current status of the Conficker worm and it looks pretty, ahahaha $250,000, morons.

I don't think there is anything funny about it.What's wrong with them offering a reward? $250,000 is well worth it to find them and string them up by the $%$%#$.Worm makers are just pigs who are no different than terrorists.

Well I tell you why its funny, in 2008, the computer underground cost businesses around the world over $1 Trillion dollars that is a combination of losses and or theft, a few hundred million credits cards worth of data has been stolen in the last couple of years, millions of people have lost money too Nigerian (419) scams. So yeah, I am laughing because that is pocket it change, no one is going to say nothing unless the reward is $1 million dollars or more and even then they they will want more if the tips are legit. Rewards in that price range would be be for noobs and script kiddies, but it will be a lot more to take one of the big boys down and that is if they live in the U.S. or in parts of Europe as many countries do not have computer hacking laws and if they do they are weak at best and some countries won't ship their own to the US to pay for their crimes.

It's time to give yourself up, SM. If you think it's chump change, throw some my way after you collect your reward for turning yourself in. :D

Offering a reward might spur some white-hat hackers (or security exploit specialists/analysts, whichever term you prefer) to do some homework for a chance to snag some cash, not to mention some fame. The Conficker/Conflicker worm is pretty famous already in terms of infection rate and for keeping the French military on the ground at home (but were they even planning on going anywhere, ever?) :D , so if you were some middle-class specialist sitting at a terminal of thousands for a huge company or some Joe Schmoe living in mom's basement, I would think that the combination of dough and fame for the feat is nothing to sneeze at.

At the same time, I don't see why Microsoft even wastes time with offering rewards to dispel a threat that it already created preventative measures towards, not to mention that commercial anti-virus giants like Norton have already updated their definitions to detect, remove, and prevent this threat. It could be a public-relations-related move, but whatever. :P

OMG that's so funny, people at microsoft are so stupid.. I even wrote my name on the code and that I live in finland? Still they've not found me. I'll turn SM in and collect the money while I make my other giant worm... and by the way, I didn't even hide my ip :PJust kidding I don't even know any programming lol, exept php, pearl, c, java, basic... :D I'm not serious guys, it's S_M, believe me! He's gonna infect Xisto and steal it from OpaQue (lol I'm not making sence, why would SM want an infected site? ...)S_M, isn't 250000 enough for you? Very funny that prize, why they want to catch the maker of the worm after the anti-virus companies have already solved the problem? And they're giving it away? Bill would get mad of this if he would still be the boss of MS...Hey, i figured it out, see: MS - > SM it's Saint of Spam who's running MS now... it's name has been changed to michael spam nowadays...

Hahahaha that's really, really dumb. To offer money to catch a worm maker? I wonder if the award is given if you turn his living or dead body to them. Probably dead. Yeah. At least it will keep Slashdot nerds employed. :D

I don't think there is anything funny about it.

Well without worm makers AV software producing companies wouldn't exist and peeps will lose their jobs, right? :D

Worm makers are just pigs who are no different than terrorists.

So when a terrorist strikes, we all switch to linux and everybody is saved? Lol, no - i dont think they are like terrorists, but certainly, hackers and virus dumpers dont have a life - and all they think about is ruining peoples pc's.

Microsoft are just crap at protecting people - they care too much on the xbox and their games + dont forget the crappy VSE2008 they made.
Why, look at linux! Microsoft doesnt allow ANYONE to help make windows better, only if you work in their department - and with linux, ANYBODY can go through the sourcecode and catch out holes and glitches where bugs may get in. And lets not forget that it has awesome themes.

So its Microsoft who is in trouble, and we should blame them - if they dont let us help in making it better then im afraid that they are going to have some downy comments on them.
I hate windows, total waste of time - they have pointless versions of their OS'. Like whats the point in having a Basic, Homepremium, Ultimate and Business?
I mean, Ultimate isnt worth the extra Ł150 on top of HP - there are no security benefits, and there are only a couple more nifty gizmos on there, which anybody could make!

Wow, they are still making harmful viruses? I don't think I have even seen and/or noticed any "new" virus released for the Linux OS. Although Windows is more vulnerable to be more infected then Linux and ubunto. Pfft. Sad fools.

Well it's all funny and etc.But for example, can the reward be given to a person which lets say a situation like this:Imagine I made this worm, I drank beer with some guys, and somehow said that it was I who did this virus, some of those guys know me that I'm a pro hacker and because we live a same neighbourhood, lets say his wage is only 80$ a day and he saw the reward, don't you think hi may just say to some people that it was me and give my living place away to them just for 250 000$The only problem would be to prove that I did this? If I am a smart hacker I will leave all my traces never coming to me, the problem would be to sue me and to make me guilty, they will never manage to do that.

Real Damage a Virus doesMicrosoft Offers Reward To Catch Worm Maker

The real damage a Virus or Worm does.

The real damage a Virus or worm does isnt tech related at all. The damage is most felt in peoples lives. Photos, clips of loved ones lost. Loved ones who arnt with us to take more pictures. (I lost my wife and my 2 children in an accident a while ago). Further more people have other things on their machines that they love and that give meaning to their lives. Things that is really hard to find again.

People who work for companies has to re-do work, while technicians have to spend their nights and weekends away from their loved ones, because some looser thinks he is Dr Evil and entertains himself with peoples misery. Launching virusses is nothing more than an act of terrorism, and you are no better than Osama.

Since my loss, I have progressed to the level of doctor in Voodoo. (I was born and raised in Africa, and this is still my home), and I can tell you with all surity that you attach a curse of death on you and your family by damaging peoples lives. And I DARE you to challenge me on this.

It is sad that people have no regard to the lives of others, and the writers of mallicious software are so short sighted that they fail to see what they do to people that they don't know, and people who mean them no harm.

My family's pictures I will never get back, just as they are gone forever. So may the laughs you have because of the suffering of people, closing down of small businesses and destruction of dreams, bring you what is due to you.
