Dish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!

Recommended Posts

Dish AinDish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!I have to call Dish about once a month for some fee they've slapped on me. For six months, from January to June, I had to call every month to have the $5.00 "access fee" removed. They claimed my phone line was not plugged into the receiver and it always is. Finally, I talked to someone about the problem who said she would "waive" this fee for my account and I would never be charged the fee again. So far two months and I haven't been charged the fee, but a new one appeared... Amazingly... Coincidentally, in the same month the $5.00 access fee supposedly was waived. This fee is $5.99 for a Protection Plan I never ordered or authorized. I don't get as bent out of shape about this stuff as the original poster, just call and calmly talk to a representative who are always courteous and professional, but I have to say that I've come to the same conclusion. Dish network is running a scam with all these fees and they are hoping that the vast majority of folks never look at their bill and just keep writing the check.-reply by Boober

HELP Dish Network is scamming me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Dish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!Replying to anwiiiI paid the start up fee ($199.00) for my fiance to get Dish Network hooked up at his previous address and they didnt come when scheduled. Then when he got it rescheduled with them, he finally decided to cancel the request and go with another company. That was at the beginning of March 2009 and now we are still trying to get the $199.00 back.We call them a couple times a month at least and they keep saying that they are sending a check and that it was just sent to his previous address by accident. This has been going on for a very long time now (from 3/09-current 9/09). Does anyone have any suggestions? I just got off the phone with them and now they are saying that they had deposited the money back into my account last month. (Nope, never did). Just like the previous month they said they mailed it to the wrong address...What do I do?????-reply by Ness

I was scammed tooDish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!Replying to anwiiiI feel just as frustrated as you do. I signed up for the 19.99 deal good for one year. At the time they said I could have some movie channels for 1 cent for six months. My first bill came and it was 44.00. The second bill came and it was 19.99 plus tax. My third bill came and it was again 44.00. I called and was told the for six months it will be 19.99. They then said I would be paying the regular rate 39.99 at the end of six months. I said the deal was for 1 year. They said they were giving me some kind of discount which covered the whole year! I told them to cancel the movie channels. They also told me I will be charged for the DVR, which I never said I wanted. The answer was they could replace that box with another which I had to hook up myself and return the DVR in 10 days or I would be charged 400.00 for the equipment on the credit card number I had given them originally. Incidently when I signed up they said nothing would be charged to my credit card, I assumed it was to see if I had credit of any kind. This time I asked them what they used the credit card for. They said they would charge any equipment or contract charges on it. I now have to close that credit card account so they won't charge anything on it. They also told me about the phone line being connected or I will be charged 5.99 per month. I was never told anything about that in the beginning. What a racket!Does anyone have phone #'s or forms that we can use to complain? Thanks for listening-reply by Mary haldane

Dish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!Dish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!

I tried to cancel my service after my contract was up and told them I was going with cable.  They told me why not try both at the same time for a couple of months and they wouldn't charge me.  I told them "no, I already had cable hooked up".  They insisted and finally I said you are going to do whatever you want anyway, but I am not going to pay for any more service.  I had already unhooked the Dish Network boxes from my TVs so I didn't know that Dish Network was still pumping their signal into my house until 3 months had gone by and I got a bill for $110.00.  I called and tried to explain, only to deaf ears.  I didn't end up paying... Well, not to Dish Network, but they turned it into collections and it ended up on my credit as non-payment and a big fat negative.  That was just over 7 years ago, so now it's off my credit reports, but lesson be learned - Dish Network will stick it to anyone they can!

Love my Dish!Dish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!

I don't know where the rest of you hillbillies come from but I have been a Dish Network customer for 12 years and would NEVER, I repeat NEVER go back those losers at Time Warner Cable here in town.  Other than the typical moments (maybe twice a year for 5 to 10 min) when weather knocks out my signal (as with ALL satellite providers) I have never had an issue.  Customer service has been fine on the rare occasions I have needed it.  The system typically works flawlessly and the price is less and the quality is supurb.  Maybe my problem is that I pay my bill on time. :)

I ordered Frontier who sub contracts to dish network for their cable. I spoke only to frontier and NEVER to dish network. I was scheduled for hook up on this Thursday the 12th. I was told that I needed to give them a credit card so they can verify a $25.00 hold fee. The next day I went into my banking and found Dish network drafted $225.00 from my account which over drafted it. I called frontier and they 3 way called Dish network who claims that I signed up for enhanced service! I never spoke to them. I requested Dish network to refund my money and pay my over draft fees which they refused. I asked the gentleman Joe in Dish networks consumer affairs department if he could send a fax to my bank, he stated that they don't have fax machines. What company today does not have access to faxes? I went to the bank and disputed the charge and the bank told me that Dish network does this all the time. They are going to go after Dish network for all charges and file a complaint with the attorney generals office.

TAKE MY ADVISE DO NOT USE DISH NETWORK.

for those of you who are having trouble with dish network and feel you are getting nowhere with their customer service reps, i am going to give you information that was given in an earlier part of this thread that can easy get lost with all the scam and fraud complaints against dish network. this is the same information i had used to get several of my own complaints heard and most issues corrected. this is valuable information and hard to come by since dish network will usually refuse to give out such information.

i talked to a guy by the name of bill watson who works in the executive office in colorado. his only job is to keep people happy. his phone # is 720-514-7332

hope this helps. come back and post about your experience!

this thread is getting the #1 spot in google for "dish network scam". the website below this thread would be the consumer affairs website against dish network https://www.consumeraffairs.com/cable_tv/dish_network.html this thread is also getting the #1 spot for "dish network fraud". let's keep this thread going so it keeps the #1 spots so other people can easy find this thread and becopme more aware about dish networks fraud and scam practices!

I worked for a dish network retailer here in Arizona, bad experience.  Had me hire whoever, even encouraged the hiring of illegal citizens telling me they were people too.  Yeah right! They just want to pay them low wages.  They used whoever to put up their flyers.

They even said putting flyers on houses with no soliciting signs was not considered soliciting.  I am not perfect and yeah the jerk who put the microscopic no soliciting sign got one but to provoke fair people to anger by putting a flyer on their doors when asked not to... It's just not professional.

I don't hate the company. I just had a really bad time working for them.

DirecTV post cancelation fraudDish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!

I`ve had DirecTV service for a couple of years. Service kinda sucked, there were always issues with billing that required calls to DirecTV every month in order to fix the issues. To cut a long story short, I moved and canceled the service prior to moving. I receive a call from DirecTV asking me to pay $40 for porn. I was like "What ?" The guy was like "Yes, sir you ordered XXX movies in 2007 that you haven't paid for!" I explained that I have all of my bills and that I reviewed every single bill prior to paying just to make sure that companies do not screw me with their bogus charges counting on the fact that people sometimes just pay the bill without reviewing.

I never ordered this XXX stuff, I never received any info from DIrectv about this until 2 years later after I canceled the service. Basically I told the rep to go F himself and if he has any questions, I referred him to my attorney who would be more the willing to sue the company for fraud...Nice one, scumbags. If I were you, I would stay away from DirecTV...

Credit cardDish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!

hey I've got the greatest solution for your credit card worries. Get a visa debit card and use the credit half to apply. That way if you cancel, the hell with them. You cant charge a card that really suppose to work as a debit with no money on it. This way the jokes on businesses that practice unfair business ethics. You see their so greedy that theyll give anyone these credit/debit cards in hope of gaining new business. Or some just hear visa and off to the races. I just joined an affiliates business for visa just for my dish customers.  You see that's the problem here in the US.  We report false market quotes to the stock market for advacement of credit. I know comcast is good at it. I use to be a Direct sales rep for them and everytime we made a sale. They would report it that day. Without taking any money from the customers. But if they customer didn't pay after thirty days isn't that false field information. Another example, I worked in the automotive industry in Michigan home of the big three. The company I worked for was a subsidary company(out source, us darn foreigners lol) of Cadillac. American made vehicles are dangerous.  We would by pass safety structure within dash board that we assembled just to keep our rate.  And most of these car probably never sold. Have you heard the saying your eyes are bigger than your stomach. Algorithms don't work on all aspects of life. There's always that if statement. You couldn't even get sick from  the flu or "your fired" were expendable. So lets take Back AMERICA with wisdom and understanding. STOP THE BIGOTS LIES.

Apache Junction, AZDish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!

Alex,

Yes, I have had much problems with Dish Network and who they contract through to install the boxes which is a company named Titan. I 1st signed up in October 2009.  First of all, I spoke to the representative Justin, who guaranteed that the installation for 3 tv's were free. I advised that there was no connection in the 3rd room, but was told by Justin, it was still free installation.  Then when the installation guy arrived, I find out that the 3rd television will be a $50.00 installation fee, due to not having a connection in the 3rd room.  I thought I explained this already.

Next, I was informed by Justin and his supervisor, Mike, that I will receive a $25.00 gift card each month for the next 20 months to be used for gas or groceries for signing up with Dish Network. This promotion was sponsored by Titan who they contract through to do the installations.  When you contact Titan, a representative by the name of Charles (who is extremely rude) will tell you that you must send in $100.00 worth of receipts each month for either gas or groceries and once they receive the receipts, they will send you a $25.00 gift card for whatever you choose.  This was not what I was told by both reps from Dish Network or Titan from the beginning nor was this printed on any advertisement (no fine print anywhere on my advertisement).  So basically, I was lied to again.  I have left several messages with Charles to have his supervisor(s) Jeff or Mike to call me and I still haven't had a return call.  I've called on 3 different occasions within the last 10 days.

I have filed a complaint with the BBB and will be filing with the Attorney General's Office.  I have had nothing but problems since I switched to Dish Network and I want to be released from this contract.

I agree with the gentlemen that Dish Network scams and liesDish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!

What I agree to in the verbal phone agreement was not what I received.  I agreed and verified that I was getting a programming package of $50 plus tax.  The installer of the equipment said without a phone line it was $55.00 a month.  IT TURNED OUT TO BE OVER $90.00 PER MONTH.   The sales person or someone else at Dish Network added other programming package without my permission.  They gave me a tiny credit.  I asked them to listen to their recorded phone conversation of the contract agreement, but they said they don't keep all of them.  That tells me they keep some at least, but I suspect they keep all of them as required by law, but tell people that ask they don't keep them all.  They treated me as a liar.  They don't want to know the truth, but just bend us all over and take all then can steal.  There are many other big corporations that try to cheat us.  America, Inc.  This was a great country years ago, but those days are over.

Dish Network Criminals: I Lost EverythingDish Network - Scam Scam Scam! Do Not Trust Them!

I was an independent installer for EchoStar aka Dish Networkin a resort area in New England. I spent a TON of money becoming certified and becoming a dealer for Dish.

During the summer and into the fall of my first year, I made a TON of money installing Dish Systems. This was important to me because I had just been through a separation and had purchased our house from my ex.

In the fall, things tapered down quite a bit as the summer residents all went home ofr the colder months.

I still installed a few dozen systems for the "year rounders" and billed Dish (EchoStar) for my labor. Keep in mind that Dish required me to purchase the systems before I could install them and that required a lot of upfront cash because I had to use a ferry to cross to the mainland and then drive 90 miles to retrieve the boxes of equipment.

Anyway, just before Christmas, I was owed $3800 by EchoStar. I received my check JUST in time to buy Christmas gifts and pay my mortgage.

BUT DISH HAD OTHER PLANS: It seems my customers had opted to let their accounts deactivate during the winter and would re-activate them in the spring when they returned. So Dish SCAMwork DEDUCTED ALL of my LABOR from ALL of those accounts that I had set-up!

MY CHECK WAS FOR $600, with the remaining $3200 deducted@ $200 per install in back-charged labor. In other words, it was MY FAULT that Dish's customers went home for the winter.

Do you think Dish reimbursed me in the spring when the customers returned and reactivated their Dish receivers? (HA HA HA HA!)

The following month was even worse...I had no $$ to purchase receivers and had to borrow to do so, but lo' and' behold, Dish nailed me for MORE defaults and I actually LOST money.

In the coming months, I also lost my business, my credit and my HOUSE.

Thanks to the CRIMINALS at EchoStar, I went into foreclosure and became seriously ill due to the stress involved.

Never, ever do business with these people!
