Im using .us.tc right now, but am not happy with it. It is almost like all redirections servces but the only difference is that directoires are shown. Like my editors blog is /blog so it show up , but once your on the blog you see the real name and not that subdomain. I'm looking into buying a domain, but trying to see if .be domains are still free!

Of course it's a scam. I tryed many services like that but it all was scam. At the end always is better to open a budget and pay anything you need. Maybe it is more expensive but its all your property and no one can take it from you. Do you agree with me that dot com (or else) is not to expensive as 5 years ti was. If so, stom looking for some "legal & free" services!

Try co.nr
It gives you a free domain like url like this:
name.co.nr
The bad thing is that you can't upload anythin to the server so you have to build your site on another hosting site. :)

I use co.nr. It's just another way of shortening the link to your site from your hosting link. For example, instead of iPodForums.trap17.com, it's iPodForum.co.nr. I would have a .com or .net domain right now but I'm a major cheapo, which would explain why I'm here.

If you dont have access to a credit card or some form of paying for a domain, you can always ask an adult for help. All you have to do is justify the reason for which you would like to buy a domain and why you need it, and when you are going to pay, and let the adult sit next to you while you buy the domain you need. Trust me, this works. Then all you would need is like $7.20 at most. If you search good enough, you will find better deals.

I find it ironic that you're talking about hosting websites, on a hosting website's forum :rolleyes:I'm fine with Xisto, I have to make posts yeah, but it's free and effective, so I'm not complaining :)

Internet is full of free domain providers but every provider has some hidden problem which one finds only when he joins it. But among those I have found .co.nr to be the best. Also why are you going for free domains when you can have one of those for just few dollars, in India I am getting .info domain for just Rs. 350/-. So buy one and forget free domains.

Some people can't afford domains, no matter how cheap they are. It's probably also due to Xisto being free. I agree, .co.nr is pretty good, although I did encounter some problems with them.

Ah, but none of those replaces a real domain name (.com, .net, .org, etc.) in my eyes. I've used .co.nr before, but never for my personal site because I can't stand it. Not only is it nothing more than a shorter URL with a frame (which is annoying), but they make you place these annoying image banners on your page. It's terribly conspicuous, but it's the only service I've found that does the job adequately. I've never tried .tk and I don't plan to at all.You know, I've seen some real free domains over the years, and none of them ever seem to work out for me in terms of the steps necessary to get them. The best free domains probably come from places where you can buy a hosting plan at the same time that you're registering it.One tip: I don't know what's Yahoo's problem, but their delightful $1.99/yr domain scheme (I booked 2 years@ $11.99 - the second year and onward is the regular price of $9.99) ended up charging me about $65...something I have yet to resolve, and something I definitely want to get rid of.I don't like the domain name industry! I really don't :)
