Call Centres

Recommended Posts

the one thing i hate in life is call centers. You ring them up only to be put in a phone cue saying "your call is improtant to us" well if its so important then why not pick up the damm phone. Like today i was on the phone to BT as my internet was down for most of the day and i was put in a phone cue that said that exact message arrrhh its so annoying. lso it runs up your phone bill. what they should say is "your call is improtant to us please wait another 60 minuits whilst we clock up your phone bill".

Ya I know what you mean. I tried calling the IRS once lol. I wanted to ask them a question and it took me 20 minutes to get through to someone and once I did they had to transfer me to another specialist and I was put on hold and then they transfered me back to the same person putting my on hold again. I think they should just give you a busy signal or something so you can hang up and try again. I mean I know it isn't possible to have a bunch of operators to answer all the calls but they could do something. That's why I'll usually only wait if it's a 1-800 number that's free.

Of course BT are going to keep people hanging on, it's in their vested interest! Most of the call centres will actually ring you back if you ask the person on the other end, so try that next time you actually get through, which should lop a bit off the cost of a call.

I hate them too, the freaking robot voice that supposedly sound like a human is desesperating, and it takes forever to read out all your options, and when you finally finish selecting the options, you get directed to this person who will take forever to pick up while you are listening to annoying music.

the worst thing is that when you get though you getsommet like this:Thankyou for waiting, press 1 to speak to a customer service rep. so you press one and then it says connecting then you get another set of like 50 options and when you press the right one you get music playing fior like 20 mins and then you get this message:"all our operators are currently busy assisting others please wait whilst we put you in the phone cue" then the worst bit is when the voice comes on and says "you are 255 in the phone cue, please wait" then at this time you realise that this phone call has cost you ?25

Hehe, I called the Pizza Hut call center yesterday to complain because they screwed up my order. While being on hold they played this annoying jingle that was interrupted every we minutes by this commercial saying how great Pizza Hut's service is. It seemed quite ironic for he to hear that, considering how their service just screwed up and that's probably the only reason others will call that number too. Why would you call a pizza "customer service" number anyways, to get instructions how to eat your pizza?Oh yeah, and after being on hold for a long time, the woman told us that we called the wrong number so we had to wait again. At least it was a human voice .

In general I already don't like calling, because I'm so..supposed to show emotions and I hate it how I should sound friendly and cheerful while I can't see the other person's facial expression. And especially when I have a complaint or a question...I always try to avoid calling in those cases, hearing those jingles makes me nervous and the options get me confused. Sometimes it's not even clear which option one should choose. That's why it makes me very happy when those customer service have an email address too, saves me so much money, time and helps me avoid the puzzling option menu they always seem to have.

Oh i agree totaly, i hate call centres, the worst was when i called sky a few months ago, waited for an hour or so, got connected "Hi please can we have *line dies*" Then i called back the predicted que had been jacked up from 45 mins (predicted the first time) to 100 mins! Arghh!Another is Dell, when you speak to them you say somthing and the oporater hears it 2-3 seconds later, they say somthing you hear it 2-3 seconds later, it is as if we are looking each word up in the dictionary!

Maybe its a conspiracy. Maybe they get so much money from the phone companies for every minute they make you wait on the line. :)

Anyway I've been there before. I personally think its worse, when they play music and every so often interrupt it to say that. Since sometimes the music they play is from a radio station or something and they actually have some what decent music playing. Then suddenly during a decent song they go "Your call is...". I do also agree with you that what they are saying is very hypocitical of them.
