Kevin Mitnick Web Site Hacked, Can You Beleave It! The worst cracker ever, got hacked by amatours

Yes, it is not news that many websites, everyday, are defaced by the Defacers or crackers, call them what you want, but that is not the main point of this topic.

The main point of this topic is that, as many of you may know, Kevin Mitnick was the best or one of the best Crackers of the entire world, they even made a movie called "Hackers 2", which many of you may have seen it in the 90's decade, that movie showed how Kevin Mitnick cracked everything he wanted, but not only cracking, also phreacking which is the "hacker" of the phone lines, i mean, making phone calls without paying.

Kevin Mitnick was arrested for a couple of years and he was out a couple of years ago, which now he has his own security company and works for many companies in the security field.

The irony is that his website was cracked, defaced by a pakistan cracking group or whatever they are, it is funny how things happened, one of the best crackers got defaced by amatours, imagine the embaressement!

What and how do you feel about this irony event!?

lol funny acident.. but I sure wanted to see that movie.. Thinkins always about thous hackers.. they can easily hack websites they want even if I had one there is always a chance to crack it and delete everything or change passwords or something like that.. it sometimes scares me.. so Im glad that sigs cant be hacked lol ..

I first read the news on "digg". As Moolkye rightly said, there is always a bigger dog playing in the yard. <_<But I even heard, that Kevin was more of an social-engineer/hacker than an cracker/hacker. I don't think thats true but there is always a possibility!

Well, you can't blame Kevin for someone hacking into the whole server and just defacing the Kevin's folder. I think Kevin should find another host provider (like Xisto - Web Hosting *shamless plug* ) and make sure that server admins are monitoring multiple hacking attempts from one IP or one region. I wonder whoes hosting service Kevin is getting his stuff... but if I was Kevin I would consider dedicated server--to protect my files/web pages and ultimately protect my image.

without knowing which holes have been used to crack that guy's website: Some people are too lazy to fix an ages old security hole because it's so old that everybody should have patched it - because what's the use of trying an ages-old exploit which most people have fixed...? (of course, this thought does not apply to pieces of software which can be "asked" for their version, thereby giving away possible open holes...)

actually, sigs can be hacked (you'd need either access to the forum's database with your own or admin privileges [or those of any other group allowed to change other people's sigs]). Your sig is as vulnerable as all of this forum
Another way to gain access to your sig would be hacking the database/replacing any pics on the server they're hosted on...

A few days ago, a new Java Runtime Environment version was released and Sun urged everyone to update. The reason? In earlier versions, applets could pass a parameter to make the "current" version behave like an earlier version, thereby re-opening fixed vulnerabilities......just about any software which has such a parameter might have the same problem...

Haha. Wow. Now THAT is ironic... But really, it's so easy to hack most stuff... even websites... Everybody likes to feel secure, but in reality they're as vulnerable as anyone else. This is such an example... the guy probably thought he had everything all patched up, too... Great story.

Well if you arent up to date with vulnerabilities and patches and stuff you are more likely to get hacked, what really is curious though, is that what he used to do, just happened to him, even though he has a company that works on security and those type of things.
