I always knew they were rigged. Though sometimes they are fun to play though, one particular game I like is the one where they give you a gun with pellets and you knock figures down and they activate some other dancing dolls and stuff. You dont win anything in that game, its just fun to shoot those figures. I dont really like those other games you all mentioned...

Carnie games seem to be pretty rigged, but have to agree Pokies and other games found in the Casino are much much worse when it comes to winning:losing odds. Casino games can be fun every now and again, but have to say it doesnt interest me to get addicted to it, considering the everyday expenses and like are on my mind the most.

Carnie game rip offCarnival Games-the Biggest RipoffA friend of mine was doing the cross bow thing at a rennie fair. The cross bow was offBut it was predictable, so with the help of a 'spotter', he (we) were able to get himOn target to win a fairly nice sized stuffed animal.Another carnival... I popped the 'prize' balloon in the dart game... The entire group ofUs witnessed the top prize as the 'carnie' came by and actually switched the tag forA cheaper one which she carried in her hand, as she passed in front of the popped balloon.This was the annual carnival which travels the circuit in Bethesda, Laurel, Glen Burnie and Burtonsville MD.For me, the carnivals are a 'rip off'... Might play one or two games, (maybe) but I'mThere (occasionally) for the rides and food. Hey, but as P.T. Barnum once said "There'sA sucker born every minute"... And he's right...Wouldn't it be cool if the warped mirrors had "Sucker" written on the bottom so peopleWould get the idea that Barnum was talking specifically about THEM !! Guess not, it would be hitting too close to home.On the other hand, if you're having a good time, who cares if you give away hundredsAt a carnival or thousands of dollars at a casino... Cork shooting Gun GameCarnival Games-the Biggest Ripoff

In this game, you try to knock down plastic cups with a gun that shoots corks... I was playing one day, and when I hit the cup, it got stuck behind another cup. The carny reached down (where you could not see) where the cup should have landed, and pulled out another cup! (mine was still partially visible) The cup they picked up said small... The one I really shot was a large!

I've done tons of carnival games in my life, but here are the ones that I think are the biggest ripoffs:
1. The basketball game. Those rims are so screwed up, Michael Jordan couldn't even make it.

2. I don't know what it was called, but you have to cover this big circle with 5 round discs. None of the circle can be showing in order to win. 1 chance for $3, 2 chances for $5. If you did it successfully twice, you won an Xbox 360! I thought that sounded promising, so I gave it a try. Of course, the person working the booth kept doing it perfectly. It looks so easy, but it was hard. Once you put the discs down, you couldn't move them. After a few unsuccessful tries, the guy gives me a hint about where the first one should be placed. So, I try it two more times and fail again. So, if you ever see a game like this, don't try it.

Turn you board around and place your first medal disk toucking both the edges of the two letters, making the radius of the circle is crosed bythe red cirlce. Your next two discs are important! Make sure these are not to high up or all hope is lost. These discs must be on both side edges of the red circle. To be succseful you must make the these two edges overlap barely just enough to cover the red in the center. The first three are acctually not very hard at all but are the base of the whole game, get these down perfectly or your last two are impossible. The last two discs are the hardest. The two discs must overlap while one takes up more space than the other. The shorter of the discs is easyer to put second so try your best to cover as much as possible with your fist disc while still mentaning space around the bottom of the circle. Your last disck should be easy as lond as none of your other discs have been bumped, moved, or placed inccorectly to high or two low. Another hint is to always start away from you and work towards you giving you a clearer image of where the bigger circle is.

I blew 100dollars trying to win a 26inch LCD tv. Toss the hard plastic ball into the tilted tub if it hits the rim and goes in it doest count. The carnie gave me like 10 free throws before even charging me. Then on my last ball he said if I get one in he would let me take the tv. I shoulda never asked if he could break a hundred. He pulled this wad of cash out of his pocket. That looked to be At LEAST a couple grand. I'm a cashier and can guess money quite well. I shoulda left after the first failed try. It went in twice but he claimed it hit the top rim and so it didn't count. Damn I should never play carnie games while stoned. It was murphys brothers expo in bentonville Arkansas where I saw the show.

Most of the games are very hard even if you are skilled at them, this way the game owner won't go broke while trying to earn a profit. They live on the road about 9 months out of the year and that gets very expensive traveling plus they have to pay the employee and rent to the Show owner also. Rent can change each week(s) or spot depending on the town. Some towns do well some don't so they take the good with the bad. Huge stuffed animals are cheap so the game will be easier than a game with hard prizes. State or county Fairs are regulated by Gaming officials and are safer to play as far as ripoffs like a carnival at a local shopping center parking lot. Here's a few pointers to winning some games I've worked. Basketball - small rims or oval shaped so you need to shoot as high as the moon to make the ball come straight down inside the rim, no backboard shoots work.Ring The Bell - avoid the electronic ones, the old manual beater can be done with one hand by a 9 year old girl if hit in the "magic" spot. Hint, the longer the see-saw the higher you go. Hit the edge closest to you making only half contact of the hammer against the pad. When you measure your distance before your swing take a step back so when you do swing your arm(s) extend further and strike it on the edge. Most people measure then swing hitting it closer to the middle instead of the edge. Only half of the hammer head should hit the pad and focus on the ground under the pad trying to drive it through the pad so you don't stop your swing short. Hold that handle tight or you will hurt your wrist guaranteed. Shoot Out The Star (BB Machine Gun) - My favorite Game. Do you really get 100 shots? No! You get more than 100 everytime as long as you keep your eye on the guy while he loads it and doesn't spill the last 20 on the ground while looking you in the eye or distracting you to look at the prize you want to win. Most BB tubes hold 100+ depending on the #size of the BB's, #1's, #2's or #3's and then the stars also have the #'s size. All loaded tubes have more than 100 up to 120 sometimes. The game can't be beat is 5 seconds so don't try to hold the trigger down and draw a circle around the star. I can beat them all with less than 100 shots and I can shoot single shots everytime counting them as I go. It takes me a few minutes. This is done by plucking the trigger like a guitar string, not squeeze or pull, pluck so your finger slides across and off the trigger everytime. I get a blood blister from doing this sometimes depending on the airpressure of the guns compressor pressure which varies from each carny. Most are set to 120psi. The higher the psi the straighter the BB shot, slower causes an arch and you can see the BB. Don't use the sights, they are only on the gun to help you hit the target. It is a machine gun not a sniper rifle so they are not accurate, it's more like spray & pray. Don't hit the star at all or ever because the more you break the star the worst chance you'll have at winning. Shoot 1 shot at the paper by plucking to see where it hits. It will hit the same spot maybe 1 out of 10 times because it is a BB not a bullet, a machinegun, not a rifle! Next shot move the barrel not the buttstock just a slight bit while going in a clockwise direction around the star without hitting the star. Don't try to connect the dots. Try to hit outside each 5 pionts of the star and keep single shooting around the star several times. Hint, if you cut out the sides and top of the star it will bend backwards and look like you won but it is still hanging on where you can't see it. If the target is pulled up by you or the attendant 'game over' even if you still have 50 shots left. Cut out the bottom and sides first the the top. If you hit the star you will make small pieces that get harder to shoot out. If the finished hole is the size of a silver dollar you more than likely got all the red out but make sure you use every BB and the hole is round as possible. The attendant will pull it up to check with a fresh target placed behind you target this shows where the star should be and any small pieces hanging on still count as a miss, you lose. A red piece showing is no good but sometimes the guy will give it to you if you just spent your paycheck with him, if he's a nice carny! Cover The Red Spot Game - Using 5 metal disc, can't be done, not by you, him or a computer so don't even think about it. It looks so simple but IT CAN NOT BE DONE. Notice that when you do it it looks like you covered it but he sees the red showing from his point of view (POV) and he turns the board to show you the red. When he does it for you he can't see from his POV but doesn't turn the board to show you that he can't do it either. RIPOFFBank-A-Ball - can be beat but they will alibi it(you crossed the foul line) everytime until you dump your wallet then he will give you a stupid stuffed animal. This is RIPOFF the gullible teenage girl game. Free shots offered to hook you then pay and lose until you're broke. Most all the other games you can win but will pay high dollar to win something you don't want or could have payed less at the mall. All games have a stock average which vary for each game. That means they will make x amount of $ to each prize they give out. Their biggest stuffed teddy bear might cost them $16 to $32 depending if they bought only 10 at $32 or a semi-truck load at $16 each. You can go pay $50 in the mall for they same piece or try your luck in the game for a couple bucks. If you spend more than $100 and don't win then you should go to the Show's office and complain but you won't get your money back because the show owner wants to get payed also so he will make sure you get that damn $100 teddy bear. Now people will see you walking around (you paid for advertising) with a big bear and think they can win something also. So will you play the con-man game also by telling them where you just won that bear hoping they too get RIPPED OFF or will you warn them not to even try the free shot?I worked the Shows for 15 years and learned the rackets. Best advice I can give you is to pay your rent, bills & debts before you go to the fair. Then if you feel that you can beat the cons at their own game, hey ... more power to you Mr Wizard and a lot of luck if you got a lot of buck. I can go and beat them because I know the tricks of the trade and my friends think I'm the luckiest sucker in the world, and I love to see a carny get pissed when I screw up their stock average, lol ....ALL'S FAIR ...pun intended ;)The Honest Carny
