rldowling03 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2006 Ok i just uploaded my new site and wanting to get your opinions, what to change, whats good and whats not. mY site is http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
Hadi 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2006 Your site is awesome but here is some suggestions:1- The home page:The picture on your home page doesn't ''go'' with the grey template, the size of the characters is too small, try adding more colours for example for attracting people to your site and changing their mind to stay you must add BRIGHT colours to the important things in your site and especially not BLACK! ''ffuniverse is back!'' should be in a large size and a very bright colour like red.I prefer you delete the word ''content'' Make space between the copyright logo and the menu, I think you should place it under the google ads. And the ads must be centered with the above menus and introduction.2-Guest Book:The guest book is also a great thing to put on a website. But I think the colour must be the same in your home page as in your guest book, I mean that if someone wants to build a site then the pages must be a little bit the same.3-The Forum:I have no comment on these, because they are perfect, If you need a moderator to help you out just send me a private message. I registered in you forum.Wish you best Luck for your site.
rldowling03 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2006 Thanks, I knew this layout wasn;t going to be permanent just needed ideas to make it better so I will change it later, also thanks for joining my forum, I wanted to try and blend in my forum with site and I tried my best, anyway about the guestbook I only put that up for a way to get feedback and such, going to get a full better integrated one when site is back up! Anyway thanks for comments
husker 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2006 Your site looks pretty good, I like the IPB template and how you made the whole thing look very professional. The home page looks kind of weird though, and the ads dont really blend in with your main template. Maybe try lighter templates to blend together easier and make it look more friendly to visitors
Dragonfly 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2006 Your site homepage is not very impressive considering the design standard in the forum. I like the IPB template you are using in the forum. It is an excellent template. One of the best template I've seen so far. And the graphics in the right-top corner of the forum are nice. It blended very well with the page. But I think you can do something like that sort of theme for your homepage as well. The forum banner too is nice. But the top banner and the body of the homepage do not really match. Besides you can fill up a little bit more with some notice or something in the homepage. It looks too empty. I'll visit your site again.
Tetraca 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2006 Center the front page with the google ads so they can go well together. Also don't use "content" in the main header of the front page. Put something more descrpitive.
odomike 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2006 Not a bad site I must say. But I would say that you should try to allign the cells and tables in there properly.I Thikn that should make your homepage look better. And apart from that, try to put more stuff in there. Make use of tabs or background pics in your hyperlinks or if you have to use plain text mode, make the text to be bolder so that people dont have to go groping around in your homepage. It took me some time to find where your links are located. And I wouldnt say that your template is bad but I still think that your site would do better with a better designed and coded template.Stay kool man.
WarFact 0 Report post Posted June 16, 2006 You're site isn't too bad there!Just a couple complaints of mine are:1) Your links in the Navigation are broken and don't work. If you are working on that right now and just don't have them up, then I can understand.2) Add some more content to your home page because it looks very plain. Again, I can understand if you are still working on it, then you won't have that much to put.Overall the site looks great, the forums look great, everything looks great, but again, you can't have the hamburger(good website) if you dont have any meat(content).Best of luck with your site! rldowling03 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2006 Ok to all who replied, I just put that site up to demonstrate the layout, to what changes I need to make. All links were broken.Anyway I didnt agree with that template so check my new one: "ffuniverse v1.0"at http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I got inspiration from another sites layout and based this layout on that sites layout. I like it, it's like my first layout I used (colour wise) and I like the navigation and I think the banner fits in this time but I could be wrong... Anyway a warning, all links are not working besides the ones up very top which sone still dont work and I dont really care if it dont blend in with forums layout :-PTell me what you think of the new layout and also, forgot to mention, the content is limited i ONLY placed 1 news item for examples of what it looks like, making comments and viewing them, so check tat out and post a comment on the main news article too about wat u think to test that out. Thanks again guys. trace-uk 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2006 I couldn't get the links at the side to work. Have you removed them?Nice website apart from that... I'm not a big final fantasy fan though
rldowling03 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2006 Yes all links except ones up top are all removed for now, i want to get the layout as good as possible before I go ahead and add my links and other stuff
fffanatics 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2006 I actualyl do thing your gray layour goes with the log but it just needs to be blended at bit better. i would put a redish border around the site and also but a redish border to the right of your navigation part just to blend it better. Then, in the news area i would ditch the black border and once again go redish surrounding black for each new news section.
Goosestaf 0 Report post Posted June 21, 2006 not bad.Graphics: Not bad, the grey backgroudn and main site body colour contrasts well. Can't say i'm too fond of the header graphic though. A bit amateurish and expected from such a fan-site. Layout: Pretty plain, but i guess it'll work well Not sure if the main content is suppsoed to stretch all the way to the right, but that could jsut be a place holder space. Navigation is in all the right places, and the 'you are here' feature will be very useful :)Content: not much of it yet, but you said your were workign on it Although your plannign alot so hope your ambition isn't too much.alrite effort.nothign really stands out though i'm afraid :(and if your sites going to be sucessful it will have to offer something more, differernt, new etc, mainly to give your users reasons to use your site over others, and keep visiting. rldowling03 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2006 Ok thanks, I will try a red border now and see wat it looks like and the content is meant to stretc all te way as I have no idea what to put in a third colum as naviagtion is on left, also thats the only banner I have, only another (darker) banner which I will upload and see and get your opinons on. Also I want to know where in the page do you think would be a good place for google ad words?
Dagoth Nereviar 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2006 It looks good. My suggestion (Sp?) would be to either "center" the news column, or use cellpadding="5px" (Number can be changed) in the <table> tag...I think it can go in the <td>/<tr> tag too, but i'm not sure.Apart from that, I'm liking the layout
