Freewebs.com Hosting Review A review by WBBulldogs on Freewebs.com

Recommended Posts

FreeWebs.com Hosting Comes with the following for a FREE account:

-40mb of webspace

-500mb of bandwidth per month or unlimited bandwidth if you sponsor it

-FreeWebs supports Server-Side Includes

-The free account web address will be set up like this: http://www.webs.com/yourname

Your account CAN be expanded with premium services listed below:

-You can increase your webspace by paying $10 per additional 100mb per year

-You can purchase additional 3000mb of bandwidth per month for $9 per month or get a bulk bandwidth package that includes 50,000mb of bandwidth for $30 permonth.

-CGI and Perl are accepted after paying for a premium service.

-Register a Domain name

-However PHP and MYSQL are not supported

I would give this service a 5/10 :( . I only used the free account and it lagged a lot. The prices are sort of high compared to other hosts.

I thought freewebs was pretty cool. You couldn't upload your own music files unless you had a premium plan but you had a lot to chose from. It wasn't that bad when I used that to first start making a gaming site. It was really simple and easy to work with but that is all it is good for...beginners. If you don't know what you are doing freewebs is a good place to go but if you are more advanced I would go for a place with cpanel.

I had a freewebs account once and I thought it was nice since they don't give you any annoying ads. What I didn't like about the service is that you can't use ftp to upload files so you really have to upload one file at a time and if you have a hundred sliced images it may take ages. Also there's no PHP and MySQL support so you will have difficulties in updating/modifying the site and there's less chance of interactivity also. Overall, the site is great for simple websites that at least gives you Internet presence. :(

Ah..freewebs..I remember it well.I used to think Freewebs was the best hosting out there...but then again I didn't know crap about web making so..anything would've been considered the best @.@.It was all good and all until I ran out of space xD.The overall designs you can have on your site is just c-r-a-p-p-y,kthx.*remembers trying to upload dozens of KH2 avatars*

I liked it. It was simple, but had enough space to create a good page. Freewebs.com has one problem. I have had a lot of trouble uploading with them. Besides that they are fine. My rating would probably be six out of ten because of some poor service.

The good old days lol. Freewebs.com is actually a good hosting to do for begininers, like someone said. Their service is ok for just standard things. The only problem i had is uploading images. Their support is kind of dule if you asked me.

Well, it's been more than a year since I've used Freewebs and when I started out, it was pretty good and I used to think it was the best free hosting provider. It is the best I think for beginners, if not best at least hell lot good. I would probably give it a 6 and a 8 if I were a beginner, really.

I never had a single problem with them, and the web-site I built almost a year ago, a really crappy one and I was having trouble finding myself back then, lol, so the content is just crappy.

You can check it out here, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. And please don't flame me and say how crappy it is. [:P]

I don't know how much FreeWebs has changed, but it seems like so long since I left there. If I remember, the space was very limiting and the "super-awesome-spiffy-cool scripts OMG" that everyone was bragging about didn't seem to interest me. I was at FreeWebs for quite a bit of time, and upon leaving it (probably upon finding another host), I began a long host-jumping period that finally culminated in my finding of Xisto.Right now, the service seems easy but I'm not sure about their file manager. I need absolute control of my HTML, but beginners wouldn't, so this would probably be ideal for them. Aside from stats, I think Geocities is absolutely losing this contest. I guess Yahoo! has to learn to update their services somehow...

Freewebs is good for beginners, I started out using freewebs. But as I learned more of the "website scripts", freewebs was limited to using mostly HTML and CSS, which proved pretty hard to create an "actual" website. But freewebs is good to use if you're limited to such coding.

Freewebs recently renamed my website to www1.url.com for 3-4 weeks. Then they changed it back to http://search.url.com/. Most of my traffic came from organic search results. Now all the search engines have me indexed as www1.url.com that leads to a 404 error page that I have no control over due to freewebs not allowing .htaccess access. I have been constantly emailing their support(there is no phone support) and receiving a generic "your site works fine" reply three days later. I have been financially affected by this for more than the $100 a year cost of the hosting. In my opinion, stay clear of freewebs!-Jalal

i had a freewebs account once .but i then found it was just useless and only for beginers. It is easy to use.It has got a easy to use editor.but it provides less space and the pages which u can make i also less...its just round about 20 or some.i also made a website on it but then then suddenly when i was adding a new page a popup came that no more pages could be added RGISTER FOR THE PREMIUM ACCOUNT....:fart:I got so annoyed because i built a great website on music. also u cannot upload files all at a time...and it takes a lot of time for the files to get uploaded and also u cannot upload music files.Told u na it is just for beginers...i would like have a webhost with cpanel rather and with more features like this one..:P
