Joshua 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 Cool stuff Cmat, I like the buttons and the title area is pretty good, I like sites that have more colorful layouts with lots of room for information to be displayed on them personally though. I haven't done much work on my site and am still messing around just with getting the graphics to put on it right but you can probably get an idea of what I'm trying to do. You can get free layouts like this from http://bravenet.com/ then alter the color scheme and buttons by taking them into PSP or an equivalent program and then editing them. Someone introduced me to PaintShop Pro 7 but before that I was pretty unfamiliar with anything more advanced then Paint So it's the graphics editing that's the slow and annoying part for me, and I've had problems getting the title the right size on the webpages. I'm still trying to decide what I want the title to look like on my site right now though. And I need to do some color changing on certain graphics here *shrugs* It should look awesome when I'm done though http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
rvalkass 5 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 It looks like the .cmat extension still isn't working. Can I ask exactly why you need a separate extension? Otherwise a nice design and I look forward to seeing how it develops.
muksimp 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 hmm i dont like that so much.. cuz bad design, no images, no downloads and other stuff. I like this freewebs site a lot better cuz nice layout. and why have you done that <title> Error 400 :: Bad Request</title>

In your .htacccess, add this line: AddType application/x-httpd-php [your extension] Replace [your extension] with .me, or .sang, or .iamwickedlycoolbecauseihaveunknownextensions Go all out.  As for the site itself, I got an error. A 400 error. :-/  I'll judge based on the error page:  The banner looks a little bit stretched. Don't know what I mean? Try this. Get a small picture, and try this code: <img src="smallpic.jpg" width="1000" height="1000"> Also, the buttons are nice, but it would be nicer if they actually did something when I mouse over them. The font size is perfect. I don't have to move my head any closer to the screen. Why is there a line beneath the W3C Valid picture?  3/
Saint_Michael 3 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 the layout look noobish compare to some of your other sites that you posted. still easy to see minus the error on the index page.

It keeps it in proportions and not stretched.  I think the site is fairly basic and the colour scheming is a little dull. It's a good start..seen as your only probably 13 it's quite good. Plus you know how to use PHP. Validated HTML and CSS is a REALLY good thing though I never seem to get that. And mines php...well i think it is.  not saying that your site is boring. But you need something that will capture the visitors attention and like mesmorize them or something. But I see that you're site is prolly still under construction.  http://www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=vintagefairy&e=com is my site, it's a little scruffy but come visit some time. electriic ink 1 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 Thanks for all the fast comments guys . Now to answer to a few questions and comments: It looks like the .cmat extension still isn't working. Can I ask exactly why you need a separate extension?Because it's fun And that's not the only one I've done. I can do php through .html, html through .log aswell I like this freewebs site a lot better cuz nice layoutA ie user I presume. I think some of the firefoxies complained because the layout was mucked up Also, the buttons are nice, but it would be nicer if they actually did something when I mouse over themLike using javascript to swapimages. I could easily adjust the hue for the buttons and do that. Thanks for that comment As for the site itself, I got an error. A 400 error. :-/Hehe I fixed that now. Misplaced forwardslash Well at least the error messages workOh well. Keep 'em coming guys and btw I know there are 404 errors everywhere which is why I asked you to comment on the design not the content
Goosestaf 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 Its quite plain, and has a few link problems.i click the link u provided and get the ERROR 404 message We are sorry but you entered a bad request into your browser. You should try getting to this page again at a later stage but if that does not work, contact the system administrator. Thank you There isnt really much on your site either, but as its a WIP thats not important. Nice job on the W3C Validations.2/

Then your site/blog should automatically validate because WordPress tends to do that. And yes, your site is PHP. WordPress is powered by PHP and MySQL. ArcaneSpirit 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 I'm not entirely sure what look you are going for with your site, but it comes across as somewhat amateurish. I don't mean that to be insulting, just an observation. It's also quite plain as far as the looks go, which in itself isn't a bad thing, many have made awesome sites that are simple. But combined with the amateurish look as well, it's the kind of site that upon first viewing it, I immediatly leave for fear of being bombarded with pop-ups and spyware. I hope that my input isn't all that offensive to you, you did however ask for us to rate your site. I'm sure you have had many compliments and not so good comments about your designs. I just hope that my observation of your design is constructive and helps you improve your designing skills. I would deffinately get more color into your designs as well. As far as I could tell, most all your site was black and white, minus the title banner...
epox 0 Report post Posted July 16, 2005 i think you may add some extras or at last add some imagesthe layout is clean but poor.i'm making my web site now, and what i have to tell you is that make things first on paper, first think what u wanna do, the name, cmatcmextra don't tells anything, the target, and all that makes people want to view your site, but don't worry untill you stand learning everything is good, get hands dirty man, and good luck! biscuitrat 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2005 Just found this post. Anyways, the header image could use a little work. That's the only bad part I could find. Your site validates, which is awesome. Just a little graphical flair would be nice! And I need to add you to my affiliates too. Stay awesome
whyme 0 Report post Posted August 15, 2005 (edited) I hope this isn't anything but harsh. But this is my opinion:* Site looks much too simple and dull* links aren't working* color scheme is rather bland* much of the graphics used are streched, viz. header image.1.5/10hth,whymep.s.here's some inspiration that might help you:http://cssbeauty.com/http://cssvault.com/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=thttp://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/http://www.theimport.co.uk/ Edited August 15, 2005 by whyme (see edit history)
