it is true that some people do steal content and just spin it. this would be unethical

this is what i was talking about and considering it as unacceptable behavior.

other than that, i didn't know that the writer i mean the owner of the article can do the same and spin his content. why, he would do that unless he has more than one website to post in. and this piece of information is new for me. and if he does that, then it is completely ethical since they are his articles from the first place, right??

well it seems you are confusing things then. you more against people taking other peoples work without their permission than you are when someone spins an article. just because someone spins an article doesn't mean they are taking other peoples work without their permission.

so i understand from you that when someone spin an article, he should ask for permissions first?? or he should add a back link?? if so, then it is ok i think. other than that it is unacceptable in my point of view.

i never had the problems like you did with the chat room and the regular forum, wd and i was always using firefox. i will tell you this much though, the forum is loading SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW now. it's probably loading slow no matter what browser people are using. it's not a browser issue. it's a forum issue. i hope the ghost of Xisto past will be working on this issue soon. it's really annoying

 

in the meantime, i will create a top 10 list off the top of my head....

 

Top 10 things to do while the forum is loading!

 

10. get something to eat or drink and come back

9. pet your dog or cat

8. think about all the productive things you can be doing rather than waiting for the forum to load

but normally, i prefer open other tabs in my browser and do some work here and there, like checking my site, or checking my email. or even do some shopping on line.

Uh, web_designer, this tag is more than 300 px wide. When I tried to add it to my sig it was rejected as being too wide. Whats up? Other's, including yours and deadmad7's are much larger than 300x300 px. BTW,where in CA are you? I was born and raised in Sacramento.

yeah, therefore, i couldn't add it today i got 3 errors. so i reduced it to be less than 300 px, but finally it gave me an error about my current signature which is for sure wider than 300 px. so i gave up and i will try later.

and btween, i think that rules about 300px * 300px is a new one, or else how could i upload my current signature which is wider than 300 px?!

that's what a spinner is. it rewrites a document or article for you. wd- just because someone rewrites something that isn't in their own way and uses a tool to do it is unethical? i highly disagree. but for the sake of argument, let's just say someone wrote an article and decided to spin their own stuff? how is that unethical? how is it unethical when you get a plr and spin it or go to an article directory and spin an article when the only rule is to keep the authors bio at the end? some people WANT other people to spin their articles just so they get their bio box out there on the internet and more backlinks. how is any of this unethical? you just put down a million people who use article spinners by saying they are unethical if they spin articles. i think these million people want to know why it is you that determined you need to judge how they are being unethical?
spinning articles is not only ethical, it prevents duplicate content where people would otherwise be inclined to steal other people's work. it teh worst, article spinning can bad if it's not rewritten in a way that makes good sense. some people don't have the energy to proof read. does this make them unethical though or just using bad judgement along with bad taste? they aren't hurting anyone but their credibility when spinning an article that makes little sense.

well, you are introducing a point of view here, and i agree with you that spinning articles is better than stealing others work without mentioning the name of the writer's name, or adding a back link. and it is also better than duplicating articles. but i said before, it is only my point of view, because personally, i don't like others when stealing my posts without asking fo my permission at least. well if they do so, i will let them of course, but after they add a link to my site. but still i know many will do that without my permission, and that what is bugging me, especially i took a long of time in writing and editing them.

So spinning articles is as unethical as it sounds? Nobody seemed to be bothered by it, so I just assumed I was missing the point.

well for me is yes, but maybe it is not for others. it is like, you want to use an article in your site ( a one you read it before in another site) and for avoiding duplicate it in your site, and to avoid the problems with the original writer. you use such programs to change its words here and there, to look different. therefore, it is unethical thing in my own point of view. i always think if i can't write my own posts, at least i can rewrite it in my own way, and that will lead me to add something to it. because as we know there are no similar ways of writing, (exactly similar) so this way you can give your readers the same amount of information that maybe found in several other websites but in your own way.

hey guys, nice discussion is going on here ( as usual when anwii and deadmad faced each other) but i don't see anything from the whole thing here. sorry deadmad, i am totally against such procedures. my rule, is if you wanted to write something, do it yourself. well at least you can collect some good tutorials and rewrite them again with your own way. but spinning articles, is absolutely not a good thing to do. either to yourself or to your readers. this is my personal point of view, but maybe others think the opposite. so anyway, thanks for your effort deadmad.

You know this forum will never be active as the past unless we all post new articles everyday.Posting new articles not replies is the key to reactivate this forum again.
I have registered to this forum to gain webhosting and domains , and in the begining it was really simple , so people have to create threat and you just have to answer or reply , and people are going to be lazy so articles get desappearing from a day to another and now we can see at most 3 articles per day!!
If you want this forum to continue then you just need to post 10 posts a day like suggested before.

yeah, i agree with you nirvaman, posting new threads is better than just replying to others. but still it is better than nothing, also you know that not always we have new ideas to be posted or have the time to post new threads. so, replying to other's topics, chatting in the chatroom or even posting something in the status update tab is a step forward. and i must say, as i can see you are doing a good job in here good luck and thank you for your effort.

The forum is changing, when I first log in I remember spending all day replying to forums, and getting a lot of MyCents, now I hardly see people online, and it's sad because I think the services I have obtain through the forum are really good, and I have never had a major problem with them, I would be really sad if the forum disappear, I can say I'm guilty I don't post everyday but I would make the time

it is ok Parubilla, since you can keep on coming from time to time, and post or reply then it is better than nothing i guess. i know we all have our own burdens in life and our priorities but i believe we should steel a couple of moments from our day and do something for ourselves, or we will feel like we are victims in this world . and for me, posting and writing here is like me-time, i mean my own special time or world. so i will try to be more active than the last couple of months and i will hope you could do that too. so let's do our best to save this wonderful forums and to revive it again, good luck for all of us.

No, Opera and Internet Explorer are the worst viewers for this forum, firefox is pretty good but Chrome (and other chromium builds) render this forum perfectly! In opera and internet explorer, (well at least for me) the tabs on the top (forums,member,portal,etc.) are just green blocks and the ajax thingy that pops out when you click your name on the top and the status messages don't work most of the time. The only thing they are good for is the CHAT, because in Firefox and Chrome, when you use the chat if a new message is posted, instead of scrolling down, it scrolls up. So its pretty annoying... what i did, as i use chrome, was to install a IE tab plugin and set it up so the chat link always opens up the IE tab and everything is normal chrome. @mahesh what browser are you using now?

oh really?? this is weird. because i remember that i switched to opera just to open the forums without slow loading or lagging in chat room. in firefox (my favorite browser ever) the forums had many slow loading and the chat room is hardly work correctly, so i installed opera just to use it for the forums. maybe it is all about the version of opera, the first version i installed was 10, and now i am working on 11.01. try to upgrade it and see if you have the same problems.

well no mahesh, even if you are not one of opera's fans. but do it for yourself, as i did. i just tested that personally. forums and chat room are loading more faster in opera than firefox. try it yourself and you will see a huge different. after all, this is the same old reason that forced me to switch to opera, and i wonder why is the forum more fast and friendly in opera more than firefox??

nothing right now will return you to being as active as before, but i'm glad to see you posting again. you are one of the VERY few members past and present that i have counted on to help with this forum. deadmad is another one even though his heart isn't fully in to it sometimes. you guys are the two most newest members who have contributed the most in your special ways that I SEE help this forum.
we need some of the older members coming back. we also need new blood. and with that "new blood", the older members need to make them feel welcome so they will stay for a while.

opaque has his own thing going with the forum and that is ultimately to make money. some members have their own goals in mind and that is to share their knowledge while other members' goals is to GET knowledge. my goal? to make Xisto a community.

to make a place a community though takes the effort of ALL people with ALL goals in mind. the admins have to be active. the moderators have to be active, the member DEFINITELY have to be active. there also has to be a common place for everyone to congregate which is why i LOVED the implimitation of the chat room when everyone was against it. i was always in there wanting to make an impact and put my money where my mouth was.

if i left anyone out, i am sorry, but the above people are ones that have influenced me the most and that i recognize here as being a part of the chat room and the community team. opaque was last on the list but probably had the most impact as an admin. i can honestly say that when people were coming in to the chat room and joining as a community, it was the best time i had at Xisto

i don't know if we can ever make trap/ks what it used to be, but i am willing to give it a shot with other peoples commitments to not give up on this place like me...

i know i posted my resignation to ks a month ago but i really don't want to give up on this place. this place holds a special place in my heart. it was never about the mycents or the knowledge. it was about getting to know people....laughing and crying together...saying stupid crap and hating eachother. this is what i wanted to bring to the table when i was a moderator before i resigned

i've said a lot of negative things about Xisto in regards to the poor service xisto has to the laxed moderatorships here, to the lazy admins who don't even show their faces. all of that is true so i don't take any of it back. but the truth is, the people who make this site successful is NONE of those things. it's the MEMBERS who will make this site successful in the long run. we have to all want this place to be a place we can come to to share knowledge.....to recieve knowledge...to make friends.....to make enemies....to be a community and ultimately come together and not let this place fail!

well, you said a lot of interesting things in here. and i hope things will be better so we can chat and write about it in other thread. now, if you think i can't be as active as before, well maybe. but you know i can, and to bring the truth about my special circumstances now, i can say that i may be more active, since i won't be able to sleep for a long time so don't count on that.

and i agree with you, that time in chatrom with everyone and opaque too was the best time i had here. i hope it will return again, the same old gang .

yeah i agree with you anwiii. if opaque isn't here personally or write announcement from time to time, then this isn't mean he is not interested, but it means he has a lot to do that he can't divide himself to do more works here. after all i am sure he is working in the background silently of course, i know that from the slow loading of the forums and the errors that are fixed here and there .also, posting one post at least is better than nothing, even opening new thread is hard sometimes, i mean when you have nothing to say but i think everyone share something funny or say some jokes or write something in the art and creativity section. or even say anything in the vent. anyway, everything that has been said here is very useful and it encourages me do return as active as before. and i hope i can still like that for the next couple of months and see that the forums are returned as usual.
