  1. I don't think anything in life is free. If you don't have to pay for something with money, then you're bound to have to sacrifice other things. I guess that's just the way life works.
  2. I actually cuss quite a bit but I don't do it in mixed company or if I'm in a situation where it isn't appropriate (for example, work). I don't believe it reflects upon the size of my vocabulary, it just reflects the fact that I picked up some bad words and started using them, now it's a habit. I also try to keep it to a minimum on Internet forums because well, that's mixed company. Some people don't mind, some people do, and sometimes it's against the rules. However, I don't think it's cool. If anything I do try to keep it to a minimum because I realize just how uncivilized and uneducated it makes me sound. I really only cuss in the company of friends and family whom I know don't mind.
  3. Another thing (that isn't mentioned in the article) is to keep the door to the room you're in open, and then open a couple of windows. It helps the breeze from the outside circulate so much better. It gets so hot in my room, but if I keep the door open (which I hate doing but I do for the sake of staying cool), then the breeze from the outside keeps my room bearably cool instead of sweltering. It's all about keeping the air circulating.
  4. AIDS is definitely more dangerous than swine flu. (Personally I think swine flu has been way over-hyped, but that's a different can of worms.) There's no cure for AIDS, and it's not something that can just resolve itself (like swine flu). Another thing is that swine flu is only very dangerous for people who are in specific risk groups and already have an immune system that is compromised in some way. Most people who get swine flu can treat it as if they had the regular flu and they're fine. AIDS can afflict anybody, and once it does, the afflicted person is screwed forever.

  6. Thanks for the warm welcome and for the helpful links!
  7. I can definitely attest to the witch hazel. Back when I was sixteen I got an absolutely horrible sunburn. I tried everything to get the pain to go away. Solarcaine didn't even help it much. However, when I used the witch hazel, it helped so much. My Grandma helped me apply it with a wash cloth all over the burned areas and it took the sting out of the sunburn. Noxema also helped, and while I was researching that option, I actually read that Noxema was invented for sunburns. (I don't know how true it is, but it would make sense seeing as how it helped.) While all of these help with the pain, the only thing that will actually heal a sunburn is time!
  8. I personally prefer Firefox. I've been using it for several years now (since I was about sixteen or so) and once I started using it, I was hooked. I just found it easier to use and faster than Internet Explorer. I think a big thing that drew me into Firefox was the fact that it offered tabbed browsing (this was before IE enabled tabs). I could have one window open but several websites up, and I loved that because I'm a huge multi-tasker on the computer. I also like the customization offered with Firefox as opposed to IE.
  9. I believe in Christianity. However, I do question. I love learning about other religions, other practices and ways of doing things. I believe that religion is a very personal thing and that each person has to choose their own path. I was brought up in a household where we were very active in our Protestant church, but when I got older we got a little less active. I think it had to do with the fact that my Grandma's health started failing and she was the religious figurehead of our household. She was the superintendent of our church for a very long time when I was little and of the whole family, she was definitely the most active with our church. I've had a lot of struggles with religion over the years, but I identify as Christian because that is what I believe. I have friends from all different religions though and it makes it very interesting and much easier to learn about other religions. I honestly don't know whether I can say which one is the "right" one, and I don't think there is a "right" one - just what's right for each individual person.
  10. The other day I watched a movie called "Shooter." It had Mark Wahlberg in it. It was about a former sniper who was tricked by government officials who assassinated a foreign figure. They in turn tried to blame him so he spends the entire movie trying to avert the cops who are after him (for something he didn't do) and attempting to avenge them. This movie is awesome, and I'd definitely recommend it for anyone who likes action flicks.
  11. Hey everyone. My name is Sara. I'm nineteen and I live in West Virginia. I really suck at writing introductions and "about me" type of things, but I'll try my best!I love music - singing, playing guitar, listening to music, all of that good stuff. I mainly listen to rock, alternative, and metal, but I like at least a little bit of everything. I also love to write and read. I'm a very introverted person. The Internet is a big hobby of mine. Well, I'm not quite sure what else to say. I just wanted to say hi!
