  1. If you're going to consider the order of the alphabet, perhaps you should consider the order of numbers as well; like, why isn't 9 where the number 2 is? Or whatever... Perhaps you should also consider why the alphabet is still in alpha testing and not beta. :XD: (Sorry, little, lame programmer humor there. ) I suppose this topic is similar to the why-are-things-like-this question.
  2. I like version one because of the warmth and clarity. However, i like version 2 because it doesn't have that fuzziness. You should make a version 3 with the warmth and clarity of version 1 but without the fuzziness like version 2.
  3. Resetting passwords with that thing would be interesting. Likewise changing other information. I guess this would get rid of account activiation e-mails. I guess instead of "Forgot Password?" it would be "Forgot File?" I wonder if that would put extra load on the server than traditional user login systems.
  4. Assuming you live near (whether a few miles or more or less) to the school, and if you have transportation, you can try picking a place inbetween where you and her live or a place closer to where she lives and get to know her more offline. If you're looking to get rid of shyness, you have to make some kind of effort to do so. I suppose this topic would be one effort, but it would be in vain if you don't go any further.
  5. If you Shift+Delete, you can delete the files without moving it to the recycle bin (since just doing a plain, old Delete is just basic moving of files). But this information is probably useless now since you reinstalled the operating system. The trash bin is just a folder located somewhere in your system, just like your desktop is a folder (on some operating systems). The trash bin on your desktop is like an advanced shortcut just like the Internet Explorer shortcut (assuming you get a different right-click menu for it). So i doubt there's anything to worry.
  6. Can you be more specific? Do you mean how long i have been making stuff like that? Or do you mean how much longer before i stop making more and stop adding to the current playlist? If it's the former: I've been messing around with music composition for around 2 years. If it's the latter: I won't stop making more; i've currently made another one which i'll add to the list in a bit. The only thing that'll stop me from adding more to the list is running out of webspace.
  7. What you could do is download a LiveCD Linux Distro and try to disinfect your friend's HDD. You could install WINE and run the anti-virus program through that, i suppose. That way your HDD won't be proned to be infected with the same virus. I do not guaruntee that this will actually work, but it's a start. Besides that, you can reformat the HDD and re-install the OS or install a different OS. Though, if it's a smart virus, reformatting and re-installing the same OS may not help.
  8. I didn't mean that last part in a bad way. I didn't mean to show hatred for their act, but, rather, to show concern for their act. Adultery is a big thing, i meant to imply what could happen in the long run (relating to their salvation) with the person that committed the act. And love also includes being faithful. But on the part on "head" and "brain", i suppose you mean men who are enticed by women for not putting wisdom before action.
  9. I believe you misunderstood me. Here, i'll quote myself and add emphasis on parts that will make it appear neutral: And yes, i do realise that the word "free" has a different definition in the Linux world than in the Windows world. But i think your statement: is misleading, for a lot of open-source software is free in both senses, and it's up to the programmer on which license to choose and whether or not to sell the program.
  10. Well, from what i hear, i think the main difference you'll notice from SLI and Crossfire is speed and quality. I hear SLI doesn't have as much quality as Crossfire but has better performance. And it's vice-versa with the Crossfire: Crossfire has better quality, but with slightly less performance. I believe the performance for the Crossfire isn't bad, but not better than SLI. Of course my sources could be wrong, but for now it's your choice: Better quality with good performance or better performance with good quality?Note: By "quality" i mean how well the image looks.
  11. Can you clarify on the defintions for the words "head" and "brain" that are used here? If i'm not mistaken, in common speech these two mean the same thing. However, you can't rule out the possibilities of that moment. (Matthew 5:28).
  12. Open source can, at most times, be cost effective; that is, free. This is really helpful for college students and those who are low on cash or just can't afford it any longer (whether it's due to rising prices on the distributor's part or on other factors). Open source can be as rigorously tested as much, if not more, as closed source (take certain Linux Distros for example). As mentioned before, many will still take closed source over open source due to the trust they have on the company or because of pre(mis)conceptions by the consumer (that if you pay for it, it must be better!). I personally have found a lot of open-source software to be more convenient, user-friendlier and more useful than certain closed-source software, where at certain times trying to find an equally useful closed-source product was futile. Also, user-friendliness may depend on how willing the person is to learn the product. Notice from truefusion: Moving to the Debate section.
  13. Removing the DOCTYPE makes the browser (or whatever medium) guess more, that is, on how you want your website to look like. I believe IE does the most guessing (whether accurate or not) out of all browsers; which is probably the main reason why IE will render a page differently than other browsers. But with a DOCTYPE, you can have browsers lean towards thinking (guessing) the same way. Sure you may still have IE render a bit differently, but that's not your fault or the DOCTYPEs, but at least you'll have less problems to deal with. In the Linux world, you won't find Internet Explorer (except maybe through WINE). But Microsoft does own most of the market...
  14. Can you explain what kind of inspiration your friend was looking for? This part confuses me: And reading on just confuses things more for me 'cause this is what i understand from all of this: He pretended to be stalked, got you involved with this "stalker" just to see if you cared. Is this correct? But besides that, i feel that your friend has a false sense of what friendship is. I say leave to see what he does. If he does nothing on his part, then forget about him. But if he decides to think before acting, for this "inspiration" could have been brought up better without all of the hassle, and realizes his mistake, then reconsider.
  15. "height: 100%" does not work if you build for standards. But if you remove the DOCTYPE, then "height: 100%" should work. I think the same goes with tables, where if you try to do the same, it won't extend to the bottom of the page. You'll notice that on the W3C site, there is no such thing as "height: 100%" under 'value' in their references; only anything but percentages.
  16. You might wanna check out this topic: 100% Height Issue With Stretching Top To Bottom. It's similar to what you're talking about, but the topic-starter posted a link to a tutorial on how to stretch a DIV from top to bottom while keeping with standards. Just mess around with the CSS till you get it to work right for your site.
  17. No, i couldn't get passed the part with the three cyclopses that drop down in this one area. I'm sure if i started off with the weapons i had from the previous beaten level, then i wouldn't have much trouble. But it's not like Devil May Cry here... I mean, what's the point of beating the whole game (however annoying it was to begin with) only to go on a harder level and find out you have to start from scratch all over again? There would be no need to have people unlock levels. Just give them all of the levels in the first place. I sold the game on eBay for around $10.
  18. If you slice an image in Photoshop, and then open up the PSD in the GIMP, you'll notice that the slices are now guides. Just a little side note.
  19. In the GIMP there's a feature known as a guide which is about as close as you can get to the way Photoshop slices an image. You may not be able to generate an HTML TABLE out of the guides (don't even attempt to via "Save As" —not good) like with slices in ImageReady (Photoshop uses ImageReady to generate the HTML TABLE; last i checked), but it still helps when slicing an image GIMP style. Note: I'm using the development version of the GIMP (version 2.3.18), so the location for the guides tool may not be the same. I've made a quickie template just for this tutorial. This tutorial will be quick, straight-forward and simple. After making a template for yourself, select the rectangular marquee tool. Make a selection on a section of your template like so: FIgure 1 Then go to Image > Guides > New Guide from Selection. Repeat the process until you have filled the template with guides: Figure 2 Now you can select an area with ease: Figure 3 And Edit > Copy Visible, then File > New, then Edit > Paste (you may have to make a new layer for the float) and save as an image:
  20. You don't have to use their software. I hear certain Linux distros, like Ubuntu, support mounting your iPod and you can drag and drop your files in there. There's also something interesting about Linux that you might wanna read: iPod Linux; well, at least i found it interesting.
  21. There's a good chance he does. But you do realize that just 'cause it doesn't make sense doesn't make it false. And what seems logical doesn't mean it is true. For example, how many theories were shot down though they made sense? And how many things were proved true though it didn't make sense (at first)? But you speak in general: "religions." Each religion has their own thing that makes them unique. Also, just 'cause one person says one thing about their religion doesn't mean that that is what that religion teaches or says. You can't rely on others, you have to judge the religion yourself (1 Corinthians 10:15). But if you choose to listen to others (for even i choose to listen to others), make sure they back up their words with scripture so you can test their words as well.
  22. Didn't the tree turn into a web a long time ago? But the main reason why this theory still lives on is because of the school books (last i heard)—no one wants to have them with up-to-date material. I hear they argue similar to, "Although it's not true and been refuted, it still promotes thinking, and that's the reason why we keep it in the books." This is why arguments are just mere repeats of the past—never anything new; it's always the same thing. Many have tried to make the publishers print out up-to-date material, but their (the publishers') argument is always the same.
  23. The reason why they load in the iframe rather than the parent page is because you did not specify the target for the links in the iframe. You must give the target attribute either _top or _parent as its value. Example: <a href="#" target="_top">Link</a>
  24. There was local news here of a similar event. A seagull walked into a store, made a left turn, took some cheetos (i think it was) and exited the store. All caught on camera. Very interesting to see, found it slightly comical. Apparently, there's starting to become a common food-stealing habit amongst small animals. Bears and stuff is old news.
  25. It's been a long time since i've had a working scanner. I've been wanting to scan my drawings in and mess around with them in an image manipulation program. I've been a fan of Japanimation and have been looking at certain anime styles to implement in my drawings. I've found a lot of RPG styles to be interesting and try to base my drawings off of that. I first started off working off of Dragon Ball Z art and slowly worked my way into new styles. Here is a somewhat old drawing of mine: I might make a tutorial on this stuff.
