  1. Instead of blurring in one angle, try blurring in all different angles. I think main text would be better with anti-aliasing. Pixel font, the letters are too close to each other, making it a bit hard to read. The blending of the render is a bit much, imo, it goes too far in.
  2. To me, this sounds like any other extremely "religious" cristian. They believe if you help people by spreading "the word of god", that that'll increase their chances of getting into heaven. Admit it, no cristian wants to go to hell. So, selfishly, they try to "book" a place in heaven by "helping" others. I find it interesting that most cristians are afraid of dying, eventhough they truly believe they're going into heaven when they die. To me, all that matters when i die, is that i get to be with my loved ones. The one that made the sin "lust", before he did so, he was very much in love with a woman. Until he started getting into the whole religious thing. Ruining what he had with that woman. Angels never used to have wings, until some dude painted them with wings. No where in the bible does it say that hell is full of fire. Religion has been changed many times throughout the years.Sure you have your own opinions and beliefs, but so does everyone else. That's why everyone does things differently, and will comment on everything.
  3. Opera does not use too much memory. Also, in Opera you can drag tabs into a toolbar, making like a bookmark button. You can also download a voice pack and have Opera read highlighted text.
  4. I havent used PaintShop Pro in years, but i'm sure it's capable of providing progressive JPEGs upon save/export. Progressive JPEGs, when downloading, does not display the image until fully downloaded (in some browsers this may act as if it's an interlaced GIF image). An interlaced GIF image, while downloading, will start off blurred and the more the image gets downloaded the more apparent the image gets. Sometimes, progressive or interlaced images may lower the filesize of images, sometimes even bringing download time down by 1 second. But, in pretty rare cases, doing such a thing may increase the filesize.
  5. This site would be better off in HTML, not flash. The animation plays too fast. Layout is too plain. The "Upcoming events" box should be near the top, not the bottom. Preloader should be inside the circle.
  6. W3C, they set standards for everyone to follow when building a website to make one's website more accessible to more people, mainly ones with disabilities. They have a validator whichs scans your HTML or CSS for errors, or elements or attributes that dont really exist, or if you missed something, etc. Most graphic programs just require some time using them, then you get the hang of it. I remember when i first used PaintShop Pro, confusing at first, but I've found Photoshop to be easier to use. If you want something similar to Photoshop, but dont have the money at the moment, you can download: The GIMP. It's free, and based on Photoshop in a way.
  7. ImageReady comes with Photoshop, which i recommend getting instead of PSP (PaintShop Pro). Since you're fluent in all those programming languages, you wont be needing any WYSIWYG programs. As for looking for some creativity, stop by the graphics section of this forum, I'm sure you'll find some interesting things in there.
  8. Edit button was removed for specific reasons. If you need something edited report your post, and provide details to what you want editted, and a mod, when they have time, will edit your post. As for reducing filesize, you can try compressing the file, 60-80% with progressive, can provide small filesize while maintaining good quality.
  9. Creating individual scenes for each "page" of your flash site, may be convenient to you, but may also increase filesize, which can be annoying for dial-up users. You may wanna try making a template flash movie, and have buttons load external files into empty movieclips in your flash movie, using actionscript.
  10. A designer. I welcome you, and hope that you'll be taking part in the graphics section, during your stay here at Xisto, also, while enjoying yourself throughout the forums. You seem to have a taste for old-school designs. Your site mentions best viewed in IE v5+, when i view it in other browsers, i see little or no difference. Since you're a web designer, i'm guessing you're familiar with the W3C? By the way you "advertise" your site in this topic, my guess is you want a lot of visitors to your site. I suggest you build by the W3C standards. Especially, if you want your site to be more "Family friendly".
  11. Render is a bit in bad quality. A hint on "reflections": a better look for them is to have them fade out, linear gradient fade.
  12. The right side of the angel one does look nice, especially with all those colors. And then, there's the left side. Not as great as the right side, mostly covered by the angel's wing. In this case, right > left. Creating an imbalance, if you will, ruining most of the flow, IMO.
  13. That video wouldnt happen to be somewhere on the internet would it? So i can laugh with the crowd, . -- Mystmag, if you had that kind of money to purchase another computer, why not buy one that has a more stable OS? If Windows is your main problem, dont go off buying a better computer with a better version of Windows.
  14. The robot one is a nice sig. The angel one, the background doesnt match the render, IMO. But, i agree with you on that the render should take up most of the sig's space. And if it cant, text and other effects should take up the rest.
  15. With flash you can have one movie load up other movies, or have one movie load up text or html files. But, the kind of HTML elements the flash player can translate are limited, mostly text formatting and links. Also, the newer versions of flash can now load certain image files the same way it loads movies. As for your site being indexed on search engines, I'd suggest making an HTML version and a flash version.
  16. My vote goes to DjLuki, his sig appeals to me the most. I like the color used, and good choice in render. Text could be better, but not much of a problem.Avalon: 0DjLuki: 1Dawiss: 0Saint-Michael: 0Mayank: 0Snlildude87: 0Samma: 0
  17. This is how i would do it: <input type="submit" value=" " name="" style="background: url(url/of/image.jpg); width: width of image; height: height of image;" /> <input type="reset" value=" " name="" style="background: url(url/of/image.jpg); width: width of image; height: height of image;" />
  18. Mhmm, great match indeed. I believe this is the first tie we've had in SOTW. Anyways, hope to see you in SOTW #21.
  19. Moving the text "Samma" up a bit, so that it matches "Prince", wont overlap his hair unless you were to move it towards the right. His hair isnt long enough for the text to interfere with.
  20. No, i mean Y-axis, since Y-axis deals with up and down movement/placement.
  21. Since web design is what you plan on being your career, I would also suggest studying ASP, after learning databases and whatnot, if you havent done so already. Since you might be seeing it in some/many job requirements. Although, in my opinion, PHP is easier and can do practically anything that ASP can. But, I digress.Knowing databases, MySQL, or any others, is beneficial. But, one downside of using a database is downtime. When the database is inaccessible, your website wont display anything from the database.
  22. For me is not so much the color, but the placement of the text. On how, one is lower than the other. Gives kind of an odd feel to the sig. It would be better if "Samma" was on the same y-axis as "Prince", IMO.
  23. It's a nice sig, not much to say about it. But, to me, it seems a bit empty near the bottom left. I might have placed the text near the sides, instead of the top and bottom-right side.
