For Xine which players can be used as frontend? For Mplayer there are Kplayer, SMplayer etc. Any ideas?

I recently read somewhere that there are lot of problems with this gstreamer plugins. Which one is the most stable one, Xine or Mplayer?

Mplayer doesn't even play an mp3 wutske. There is some problem with the video output device I think. The problem is not with files. See the error that I posted above. I didn't have much of these problems on Ubuntu. Also it won't detect my ADSL, but thanks to pppoeconf. I used it to connect to internet. Why so many problems on Kubuntu, I didn't had even one error on ubuntu. Why so many on Kubuntu? Is it the problem with KDE. I actually shifted to Kubuntu mainly because of KDE. If I can have KDE on Ubuntu then there won't be much problem to me I guess...

Both are fantastic. But tests prove that kaspersky 2010 is better than Norton. The latest VB100 test proves it. Kaspersky detection rate is 100%, but Norton detection rate is 99%, It missed a trojan. That's all.

Symantec has released their latest versions of softwares i.e. NAV 2010, NIS 2010 on September 9th. Also, Norton 2009 users can upgrade for free. So, I upgraded to it. It's low on system resources. The look is the same as 2009 but only blue color is changed to Yellow. Overall it's been a good product. What do you think about Norton 2010? Will you shift to it?

Windows 7 is similar to XP and Vista. In terms of resource usage it is like XP. In terms of look it is like Vista, slightly better than vista actually.

What to do now? Shall I remove these gstreamer plugins and install another player. May be its time for me to try Xine. Till now I only used gstreamer plugins. I tried VLC friends. It didn't worked well on ubuntu. Anyone suggest me a good player which works on Kubuntu.

Hi friends, I am using Kubuntu and installed Gstreamer plugins (all bad, base, good, ugly multiverse etc). I am using Dragon player. The video is playing, I can here the sound but the display is a blue color screen. Normally on Ubuntu, I used this command gstreamer-properties in terminal and change the output video plugin. This is the solution for Ubuntu. I didn't tried that Yordan. I have removed Mandriva and I am running Kubuntu now and now I am facing new problems. I think I will post about this Kubuntu problems in a new thread without extending this thread. Thanks for the replies guys.

Mandriva has been a nightmare for me. I used Fedora, Opensuse, LinuxMint, Ubuntu but never had so many problems. Also I found that Mandriva is running slow on my system. So, I removed Mandriva yesterday and installed Kubuntu. On Kubuntu, Opera installation went smoothly. No dependencies nothing. Till now Kubuntu is working fine!

I downloaded Opera 10 RPM from opera website for my mandriva. But when I try to install it says that there is a dependency failure and the dependency is : libqt3-3.3.8b-14mdv2009.1.i586. I downloaded it from rpmfind.net and tried to install. But it in turn said that there is a software dependency failure and the dependency is qt3-common-3.3.8b-8mdv2009.0.i586 . When I try to install this it is saying that it requires libqt3-3.3.8b-14mdv2009.1.i586 to install. I am really confused. The first one says that it depends on second one and second one says that it depends on first one. Is there any way to solve this problem and make Opera install on Mandriva. Also yum install is also not working. Is there any way to install from terminal rather than from Install/Remove software.

So, HDD will burnout. In the above quote are you talking about HDD running out of disk space or other issue. How can a HDD burn out?

@Eggie I think SmartFTP is paid FTP client. Why waste money while we have a good open source like Filezilla. I recommend you to try Filezilla. It is very good.

I always had this doubt. Will formatting clear our problems (removing virus etc) or create problems (HDD burning) like Surfermac told. I've formatted many times but didn't had any problem. Anyone here to clear my doubt?

virtualdub is good. Also you should try considering Super converter. Actually it is a converter. But it has this option of muting the sound in a video. Super is a full fledged converter. It is also good.

You can try contacting google and ask them to remove that page from the search results. Here is the official procedure on how to contact them : https://www.google.com/ As Yordan mentioned, make sure that the website you want to complain about is explicitly mentioning your name. Also try what surfermac said. This way also works.

Kaspersky or NOD32 will be my preferred AV. They provide a good protection. Next preference is Avast. Least is Rising. Avast is known for also marking safe files as suspicious. So, be cautious while moving your files to vault. Moving any system files can cause malfunction of O.S.

Getting a co.cc or co.nr is waste. They are subdomains and the problem comes when we want to make money online from our sites. co.cc and co.nr are not allowed by Adsense. So going for a Blogspot subdomain is much more preferable.

Now it is working. Till now I just mounted it and forgot to save the configuration. Now I mounted them and saved configuration. It´s all fine now. Thank you friends for sharing your ideas. Now I know what is fstab file all about and how to use it.

Actually whenever I tried to open the drive I get this error :¨An error occurred while accessing ´Local Disk´, the system responded org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume.PermissionDenied. Device /dev/sda5 is listed in /etc/fstab. Refusing to mount.¨Then I am doing the above steps that I mentioned in above post (lengthy procedure) to open the drive.
