Is this the problem only with Firefox? Have you tried Internet Explorer, Opera or Chrome? If all these browsers do have this problem, then this will be a problem with vista. If only Firefox isn't working correctly then try re-installing firefox. Before uninstalling your Firefox, try to post from Firefox safe mode. If you don't have any problem in safe mode, then this problem is due to a plugin... Try safe mode...

Thanks Yordan!

My problem is very uncommon and some of you may find it silly. The problem is with Fedora. In Fedora bootloader I want it to load XP as default without loading Fedora. Can I do that? If yes, how can I do that. Also is there any software which adds these Fedora and XP bootloaders and gives us the choice to choose them and customize our choice. Is there any such software?

I just deleted them and they never came again. Try deleting again and also ask Xisto - Support.

Actually there are some 100's of php files inside that anonymous folder Yordan. I didn't particularly see what those files are because the number of files are more. Thanks Spencer. You are really better than those Xisto - Support team. Not that they aren't working. They are doing their work but they are not specific as Spencer. They told me that they investigating how these anonymous folders are created and they told me to do that too. I am sure that this incident is going to teach me a new lesson in my role as a blogger.

I am feeling insecure now. Should I delete the whole wordpress installation and do a fresh wordpress installation? Will the in-built Import and Export options in wordpress are sufficient for a complete backup, so that I won't loose any article or comment. For this fresh re-installation it takes around 30 mins for me to delete, upload and install. In the mean time, I want to take down my site and put a page which says that site is down to those who access my site. Is there anyway to do this?
-
Yes, I've deleted them. I am using wordpress for my main site. Apart from that I have another wordpress running as a subdomain. This subdomain is only known to me. Only me and my friend knows about this subdomain and I use it for website redesign purpose and only my friend who is very much interested in designing know that password. Also, the password of that subdomain is different from the main site. I've never used public computers to login into my blog. I only share the FTP password with the Xisto - Support team. Because during compliant filling they ask us the password. Anyways, what can I do in order stop this type of problems in future.

I downloaded them and opened those php in notepad and there are some divs etc. As I don´t know php, I want someone to checkout that file and see whether it is harmful or not. I´ve uploaded that file unto Google Docs. The main page is intact.

In my public_html folder, there are two new folders with suspicious names like dfasrexcv, adfsrqer and with some php files inside it. I tried to download them and scan that folder with my Norton, but I am unable to download the folder. The download option is greyed out. Also on my Google analytics account, the visits are decreasing drastically, 3 days before it is 160 visits, then it is 115 visits, yesterday it is 70 visits and now even less than 50 visits.

Microsoft Security Essentials, code named Morro, a free antivirus was released yesterday. MSE comes with all those features that other free antivirus gives. Also MSE installer size is only 5 MB (Vista/7) and 9 MB (XP). Very low on system resources. PC World free antivirus comparison says that MSE is not bad. It is as effective as AVG free. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I tried this and I like it.

Safety and application availability are the most important aspects of an operating system to be successful. Already this operating system market is full of competition and I think there is no room for this Haiku OS, unless and until it has something that all other OS don´t have.
-
That´s right. Already there are many DRM breaking tutorials flying around here. Such methods of cracking and hacking tutorials have to be stopped/deleted, because they encourage new members to follow that way, as starscream said. Keep this forum clean and fill it with good and useful stuff guys. Xisto means a lot to all of us.

I am answering this question only to help those who genuinely need support in burning dvd´s for a legal purpose. So, Santed assuming that you are asking this question for a legal purpose, to convert avi to dvd format, use a small utility called Avi2Dvd. You can download it from here. Convert your avi´s to dvd format and then burn that converted video onto your disc.
-
Hmm... that's strict... very strict. Here we just burn as many disks as we want, the laws here in my country are very old. By the way, are you from Europe? (Don't think otherwise, asking you casually)
-
What's new in this O.S. Is it another Ubuntu or a tough slackware?
-
Come on Yordan! There are many problems for Police to worry and bother about, why will they just waste time for silly things like who is burning additional dvd´s, who is compressing them. The probability is almost 0 (Unless someone who compliant police). That´s too silly, to be included in TOS too.

I use Fedora Leonidas. I don't update manually, I use Kpackageit. Fedora is asking me and then it is updating. But I remember that once Fedora has said that it is updating important security updates without asking my permission and has eaten a 200 MB space. Now it is working fine.

Actually I am looking for something like Eventvwr in windows. In fedora the logs are stored in /var/log. There are many logs. For example if I changed the time and date and saved it, then in which log this information will be written. Is there any idea on how to find this log and delete it?

i´ll check it out.

It´s very simple iGuest. Follow what Yordan said (In the exact order) and I want to add some points to the above tut. In Mandriva go for, Mandriva one 2009 Gnome version. Remember, first install windows and then Linux. Because Linux will detect Windows boot loader, but Windows won´t detect Linux boot loader. After successful installation of Linux over Windows make sure that your Windows is safe and won´t crash. If you install/repair Windows after linux installation, then you have to install/repair your linux once again. Make sure that you know the basics on how to restore linux after Windows installation. I suggest Ubuntu over Mandriva, because the community of Mandriva is not big one. If you get a problem then the chance of getting help from others is less. On the other side Ubuntu has a vast community, very well coded help contents. Before installing linux on your system, first test it in Virtualbox. Learn how to install linux and test yourself on virtualbox and then install on your system.Do few test drives on virtualbox, it will definitely help you.

I am on a limited bandwidth internet connection, I mainly use linux to save bandwidth. Because on XP, almost every program connects to internet silently and download updates thus eating away my bandwidth space. So, I shifted to Fedora and no use, Fedora is also doing the pretty same thing I think. Fedora is automatically installing security updates. How can I stop it to save the bandwidth?

The basic version of arch is a command mode one and we can install whatever desktop environment we like. But for many people running on command mode is pretty hard. But I go with your idea ndowens, You choose what you want.
