k_nitin_r got a reaction from OpaQue in Healthcare & Pharma (Staffing &recruitment)
I know it as been a while since this thread has been created and there hasn't been much activity on this thread but I was thinking about company names for the original poster and could think of: (i) RxPeople - the Rx suggests pharmaceutical and the People stands for staffing and recruitment, (ii) MediPeople - similar to RxPeople but with a different prefix, (iii) HealthCare Staffing Solutions - the company name says it all, (iv) Place_Name Business Solutions - this tells clients that you belong to the region where you are established and the name is a match for a general recruitment firm, (v) Excellence Recruitment - this again says that you help recruit the best in the industry and doesnt specifically limit you to the healthcare and pharmaceuticals industry. If you have a portal for the company, I would suggest looking into the domain names that are available. Now that the top level domains can be registered by the firm too, that could help look into non-conventional domain names that do not end in a .com. Sure, there's .biz, .info, and maybe even .jobs but it helps to have more of them to choose from.

k_nitin_r got a reaction from tritesh in Preserving Indian Culture And Traditions, Through The Educational System
I hear the Bhavan's College in Mumbai organizes a ceremony called the Ashirvachanam in which the students invoke the blessings of their elders and take an oath of respect for cultures, traditions, and values. It is perhaps one of the many events that helps Indians re-establish their cultures and traditions, and ideally what ought to go with it is a class on Indian cultures and traditions, for how can one recognize where one's roots come from if he or she has not been taught what they are. There are museums such as the salar jung museum, which houses the war history of India, bearing the armor and weapons that were used in Indian during battle. However, we ought to have a museum bearing items symbolic of the Indian way of life. It need not really be a museum, considering how hard it must be to find items of historical significance, but it could be possible to create an educational experience through wax or clay models, videos, and interactive learning experiences. Some Indian colleges, such as IIIT-H have a cultural club that helps people realise the many events that used to be celebrated over the year by previous generations, something that has been lost to the current generation and possible to the future generations too, unless something is done about it. Perhaps the educational system ought to take the next step by offering courses on cultural studies and creating employment for students majoring in liberal arts. After all, there needs to be some way to reinforce ethics in society and what better way than bringing back the culture and traditions of the past?

Hi Cityzen!it's good to have you join us here in the forums. There are a lot of Internet technologies around, from Oracle's/Sun's Java Server Pages to PHP and even Microsoft's Active Server Pages.NET. Then again, there are web crawlers that are not web applications per se, but they download web pages off the Internet so that you can index them and make them searchable with an indexer. There are also Really Simple Syndications news readers, which are desktop or mobile applications that pick up the articles off websites in Extended Markup Language (XML) format. Pretty much every major newspaper website provides content in XML format, including BBC and CNN, so you can actually provide a news reader! Then again, at the networking level, there are routers, firewalls, and proxy servers which again are Internet technologies so there is a vast vast ocean for you to conquer! :-)There are several web hosting plans and even if you subscribe to the basic plan, you will be able to do lots with it. You can host about half a dozen domains with it, use close to a dozen MySQL databases (and PostgreSQL databases too?), and even setup e-mail forwarding so you can get an e-mail address with your domain name in it. It explains why a lot of people stick to Xisto and haven't gone elsewhere in the pursuit of web hosting. Besides, where else do you find web hosting that is completely free?

k_nitin_r got a reaction from enigma79 in Homeschooling Vs Public School
Ritu,I've been wondering if you know whether home schooling is a possibility in India. I know many other countries have home schooling as an option for children, but I believe one of the documents that has to be presented for admission into another school is a transfer certificate from the previous school, when mentions what grade level the student was in or has completed at the time of the transfer. I also believe that transfers are not possible between different school boards except at the end of the year. The difference between the time at which different boards end is perhaps something that can be a bit of a problem, though most schools are more than willing to let the student catch up after joining in the middle of a school year.Home schooling is a great way to ensure that students in India get to learn about liberal art subjects. There is not enough emphasis in the Indian education system on art, except when the students take up a bachelor's degree in art. When students do not know what to expect from a course, why would they want to opt for a degree program in that subject? Public schools in India do not seem to teach much about the Indian culture. The most I have seen is in the Hindi and History courses at schools, but that is very limited. Little is mentioned about social norms and practices, about spiritual philosophies, and about the country side.I believe that creating a more diverse set of subjects earlier in the education path would ensure that students get to know what they want to pursue rather than simply take up the options that others before them have taken. Simply because the neighbour's kid went on to become a successful engineer does not mean that your own kid has to take up engineering to develop a successful career. He or she can become just as adept at his or her trade and demonstrate just as much success. Our education system also does not seem to embrace diversity - we see very few people who return to universities and colleges for an advanced degree if they have been able to make do with the degree that they have earned. It may have been because they do not see a need for it and there is little that they can do with an advanced degree at the work place. Also, there are limited opportunities for those with a research degree to really make a difference because the social norm in India is to finish college as quickly as one can and get employed within just about any multi national corporation that is willing to pay big bucks for them.Social interaction in schools and colleges in India is pretty much limited to dealing with peers and often a hostile environment is present in these institutions of learning, which goes on to affect the culture of the individuals that go through these institutions for an education. Ethics and politeness aren't something that are taught within our education system and you will see that the average person does not exhibit these qualities as the people from a few centuries ago did - the difference between the two ages is that the earlier age had a focus on philosophy as well as on professional trade whereas the current age focuses entirely on professional education for academic achievement. I believe we may be able to bring about a change in our education system by introducing the study of ethical case studies earlier on in the education system, as a continuity for the Moral Science courses, to create a sense of values within the individuals who do decide to take to a newer curriculum.Although home schooling would appear to be the best choice for some parents, not all parents are well-equipped with the knowledge to impart to a child. I am not saying that the teachers of today have all that it takes, but there is a system that can be moulded to ensure that the teachers are trained in newer subjects and that the schools are prepared to impart the values, skills, and knowledge that the student needs in order to gain an expertise over the basic concepts, a familiarity with concepts of intermediate difficulty, and an awareness of certain concepts that are too advanced to include within the educational curriculum.

k_nitin_r got a reaction from tritesh in Mycents Credits [resolved] Has the amount per post decreased?
Hi Mr.Dee!I did notice that I did not receive the email from Xisto stating that I got some extra MyCENTs, but I just assumed that they gave me the credit for my posts and just did not email me. Yes, the email does provide more motivation to write and I just did not get it over the past couple of days. I guess it is something for me to investigate. I'm looking at my MyCENTs balance and the MyCENTs that I have already earned till this post and I will be keeping a track to make sure that it really is the MyCENTs that are awarded for a whole lot more than they used to be paid for.If the MyCENTs awarded for posting really is much less than it used to be, then I think it would be a dis-inCENTive (pun unintended) and would turn a lot of people away from the forum. I wonder if it MyCENTs are awarded with the same scripts across all of the sites that participate in the Xisto network. There's the AstraHost that has a set of forums that I do not participate in much... perhaps just once in a blue moon, and I do not see a blue moon all that very often.I have seen some updates to Xisto, such as the Xisto home page and so I am guess that there have been recent updates to the Xisto MyCENT processing scripts too and that may have either credited my while the emails did not go out, or I did not get the MyDollars that I'm supposed to get when the MyCENTs listed on the forum exceeds 100 cents, or maybe even the scripts did hand me my MyCENTs but not as much as they used to hand me. I am going to wait and watch over the next couple of days, but just so that you know, you are not the only one out there with problems in having the MyCENTs credited to you. I am in that exact same boat and have noticed that the MyCENT emails that I was expecting were not in my email mail box.

k_nitin_r got a reaction from velma in Cheapest Tablet In The World - Aakash Launched in India, today.
The cheapest tablet in India was for Rs.1,200/- but prices have increased since its introduction. I can't remember if it was MyDrona or the NotionInk Adam but one of the two was sold for Rs.1,200/-. MyDrona was created by the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT - that is three 'I's, not two). The low price comes from government subsidies rather than breakthroughs in manufacturing technologies therefore I can't really speculate on the build quality. The Aakash tablet comes with just 256MB RAM which makes it difficult to 'hack' it to turn it into a cheap laptop replacement. The price does make it a compelling purchase when compared to the Samsung netbook for Rs.16,000/-. Considering that a motorcycle can be bought for Rs.30,000/-, folks who aren't IT-savvy are not very likely to get a netbook or even a regular computer be a desktop or a laptop for that matter. If the display and battery of a cheap netbook are taken off, that might help cut down the price by quite a bit. Hooking up the rest of the netbook to a television set does make the idea seem like it may meet commercial success if it is pitched correctly. The downside is that by using a television, you would be limited to low resolutions and the idea of a nettop has already been tested without much success. The difference between a nettop and the proposed stripped-down netbook is the lower cost in using the infrastructure for existing netbook development and the integration of a keyboard and touchpad within the body that helps save on material costs.

k_nitin_r got a reaction from syzygy in The New Era Of Html5
Hi!@RigaudonThank you for posting the list of new tags being introduced in HTML 5. Apart from the new tags, there are also some enhancements being made to existing tags, such as to the INPUT tag which reduces the need for writing Javascript or server-side code for user input validation. For example, when a user date in a text-box, developers would have to ensure that the date is in the right format and would have to filter the user input to prevent the user from entering unrecognizable characters, such as an ampersand or percentage symbol in the textbox for entering date. The new tags for organization also enable search engines to parse the documents with a greater accuracy. With the current HTML standard, every article is a heading tag followed by a paragraph or a DIV element, though there are some web designers and developers who deviate from the norm and use other elements in place of the heading or the paragraph and DIV elements. A search engine would have to be smart enough to figure out which is which by examining the formatting for article titles or distinguishing between actual article text and other sections of the page.We do have other tags already in place, such as the address tag to indicate that the enclosed text is an address, and the rel attribute to provide metadata about a hyperlink. The problem, however, is that most people do not use these tags and attributes yet. Also, many web browsers do not implement enhancements based on these attributes either - for example, the Opera web browser identifies the home, previous, next etc. attribute values for the rel attribute of hyperlinks.@Gammmae105Efficiency is something that is very subjective. For some people, efficiency is defined as something that runs faster in the browser while others think of efficiency as something that requires very little source code for development. The enhancements to the input tag are some of the coolest enhancements to the HTML standard as many of the web developers and designers put considerable effort to build around the conventional HTML input elements. You might have come across the Peter Blum web controls that have been quite popular in the ASP.NET development world.@web_designerI see the introduction of local storage, enhancements to the form input elements, offline web apps, and web workers as the coolest new features of the HTML 5 standard. I guess this opinion conveys my web development background, and I'm sure most other web developers would look forward to these new features too. While the video and audio HTML elements have been much welcomed, I believe they will not make much of a difference to the average user because Adobe Flash is commonly used for delivering content and is almost uniquitous, except in the Apple world of iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads.

k_nitin_r got a reaction from linekill in To Sell My Blog Domain selling my own blog domain
Hi!I believe $1,000 is a steep price, considering most domains are sold on GoDaddy for anywhere from $50 to $500. I don't trade in domains, so I can't give you an expert opinion, but this has been my general observation. I'm not trying to discourage you because you just might get a buyer willing to shell out $1,000 for the domain name. Also, I was wondering if you would be selling only the domain name or also the blog system and all the articles on it. If you are selling only the domain, the Google PageRank of the domain would probably drop significantly when the content that the domain is pointing to has changed and all the inbound links become broken links. While I do agree that this would take a bit of time for Google to discover that the links are no longer available on the domain, it would eventually occur.By the way, I'd like to know why you would like to sell the blog especially since it seems like a pretty good idea.Regards,Nitin Reddy
