  1. I haven't had a pet for over ten years now. I like dogs though, birds, fish, and anything that doesn't bite unless you tick it off enough. If I got to choose an animal to own, I would go for a small dog. Cats are cool too, but the ones I've met are lazy, spoiled and selfish. The only reason why I would pet on is to feel it's fur.
  2. I agree, hate is such a strong word to say. I don't hate anyone (at least, none that I can think of). I do dislike some people, but that's just due to a difference of opinion(s). The people I like the most are the ones who are fair, open-minded, honest, caring, not two-faces, loyal, respectful, and easy going.
  3. Toyotas and Hondas are the best vehicled on the road. Nothing can beat their quality or reliability. Personally I own a 2001 Toyota Echo. It has never had a problem with it in the four years I have had it. People may not like Japanese vehicles, but it isn't about culture. The only things that matter to me in a car is how long it lasts, how good it is on fuel, and how comfortable the seats are. They're cheap to own, and they last. That's the bottom line.
  4. I saw this article on the Internet already. It's quite interesting. Although it's not always possible to have the data recovered, at least there's a chance for those who neglect to backup their important data. If only the world did it more often, it would save so much time, effort and money in the long run. Backing up data is so cheap these days. Some people never consider the fact that one day their HDD will fail; it's only a matter of time. Bad sectors are common as well for older computers, which leads to data loss and other problems. The best way to avoid this is to make sure you don't hit your computer while it's on, or expose it to any vibrations. Fans can also prolong the lifespan of any HDD with proper cooling, and an exhaust opening on the case. The faster the RPM, the hotter it gets. 5400 RPM HDDs run relatively cool, 7200 RPM typically need at least a small fan, while the high-end 10,000 and 15,000 RPG require really good cooling.
  5. You could always settle for an AMD Sempron if you're really desperate. It's the low-end CPU for AMD's choices, and is very cheap. The one major disadvantage to owning a Sepron, is that it only has 754-pins. By next year, AMD will no longer be supporting that pin count, and will solely be focusing on 940-pin (called M2), and the 1,207-pin (called Socket F). It's too bad for those who are going out buying 939-pin machines and CPUs when the will be out of production by next year. In the long run, it is a good move for AMD I think. Making things standard, and set to two flavors is best rather than complicating things and confusing the consumers. I've posted the link before, but here it is again anyhow: http://www.geek.com/date/2005/5/
  6. If you say so, that's good enough for me. My source is somewhat outdated by a few months.Thank you.
  7. Here's a free one for you. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Other than that, there's Norton, Mcafee, and a few other companies out there. Just try doing a search with google.
  8. I see that Xisto uses PHP 4.3.7 and MySQL 4.0.18. PHP 4.3.11 is out now, and so is MySQL 4.0.24. I'm not sure how or when the admins update the entire database, but I just wanted to inform everyone about this. Here are the links for the updates... http://php.net/downloads.php http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/4.0.html
  9. Me too. I used to use another free provider, but once they updated their service, they expected a small payment to help pay for their update. I wasn't interested in paying, so they eventually deleted my account without any warning. Then I did a search on google and looked up my old provider, and noticed Xisto with their high review: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/reviews/Xisto.php so I applied last week. Most of the feedback is 10/10. Obviously you guys are doing something right.
  10. AMD announced the availability of the X2 dual-core processor. The X2 chip uses a 939-pin interface that allows many current Athlon 64 ownters requiring only a BIOS update to take advantage of it. The overall productivity of a typical application measured by benchmark will see a performance increase of up to 22%. Media applications have the best performance gains up to 34%.Are there any AMD fans out there who are going to buy one?
  11. My favorite online game is Jedi Outcast. A second choice would be Jedi Academy, but JO requires more skill, while JA is more automated. *pff*
  12. I've enjoyed my stay here so far very much, that I've decided to advertise your site at phpbb.com to help you guys get more members. Here's one of the links to a post I made not long ago: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  13. My ideal job would be as a Geological Technologist working in the bush, and occasionally in the office. Doing in depth mapping using AutoCAD and Office applications, earning enough income to be satisfied.
  14. Canadian over here!!! Yeah, that would be me. I don't have a favorite 'State', but I do like the Province Ontario. That's where I live, at the moment anyhow.
  15. I prefer the colour red. Sometimes I like blue, but it depends on my mood.
  16. I have used Open Office 1.0, and it was nice to have a program that was backwards compatible with Microsoft Office. However, it was/is not a elegant. Not a big deal, but the alternative is a good option if you prefer to have something legal.I have a copy of Microsoft Office 2000 Premium that I use, and I see no point in ever updating it to anything else as long as it works.
  17. Here are a few links to free spyware. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloaddefault.aspx I hope this helps.
  18. I heard that the best laptops out there are Toshibas. (Did I spell that right?) Dells, along with all major computer companies such as Compaq, IBM, etc. all use cheap power supplies and motherboards. The most important part of a computer is the motherboard. And if you have a cheap, low quality power supply, it will degrade the performance of the computer and on some occasions, cause damage to the internal components over time due to inconsistent power. For all computers, it is good to have a name-brand, high quality power supply and motherboard. A surge protector would also regulate a smooth flow of power to the power supply. If I ever get a computer again, I'm going to custom build it with name brand components.
  19. I once tried adding a mod to an old forum of mine. It didn't work, and messed up everything. So I've never added a mod since to anything. Personally I feel it may decrease security, but usually the mods provided by phpbb.com and phpbbhacks.com are relatively safe, and well tested before their release. I guess if I had to choose a mod, it would be this: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=289928
  20. At the moment, they're very slow on getting phpBB 3.0.0 (Olympus) out. They did say that phpBB 2.0.x will continue to be supported, even after Olympus comes out. For anyone interested in testing Olympus just to have some idea what it will be like, be sure to check out their site for new hourly updates here: https://area51.phpbb.com/ Just a note however, it is still being created, so it's not even in the 'beta' testing stage yet. Use it at your own risk! There is no support for it whatsoever.
  21. It's ultimately up to you. No one can choose which one you prefer more, since that's just other's opinions. Take your time and decide which one you like more. If you can't decide, do a random pick by tossing some dice. hehe
  22. I suppose it can be damaging in some regards. Perhaps she is trying to get back at you in some form of cruelty, and "stick it in your face". She may be slightly immature compared to you. There could be many reasons for her acting like that, but I do agree that it is not very considerate of your feelings considering she was your first girlfriend. Even if she tries to make you jelous, it would be a great idea to show her your support anyhow, and be happy for her that she has found something wonderful in her life who she can spend the rest of her life with. Three months of knowing someone, then suddenly getting engaged is rather quick in my opinion, but it's her life after all. If it turns out to be a mistake, then hopefuly she learns from it. Women talk about sex often. It's not a big deal. My room mate (also female) talks about it all the time with me. Our friendship is still growing, but I have a feeling it may turn into something more in a few months (I'm giving it time, and not rushing anything). The relationship with her new lover is ... well, new. She may still be enfactuated, but once the novelty goes away, she may cool down. At the moment it may not be a good idea to be friends with her, but that's up to you. If she is making you feel uncomfortable, where seeing her is more of a problem than pleasure, then it may be time to take some action and do something about it. That's just my suggestion, but you need to do what you feel is right. Good luck man.
  23. Hi Reaver, For the chatbox link I provided, you can customise it in many ways. A few of them include personal appearance, length of sentences, faces enabled / disabled, a variety of faces to choose from, an option to display available faces, number of posts you want availalble (max. 50), and a time limit in which you allow users to delete their own posts. It can be set for someone to delete their post from a few seconds, to several days! It has a great deal of features, and I know that when I used my chatbox, it's great for users who do not wish to register, but instead choose to leave a quick message for someone. I strongly recommend it.
  24. That's a sweet looking site. How did you make your images on the main page?Keep up the good work!
  25. That's a good idea! http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ is a good, free provider. And the featurures can be customised, and added to forums using HTML. I am using a shoutbox on my old forums located here: http://free.phpbb-host.com/freelancers/ towards the bottom of the page.
