  1. There are pros and cons to both DSL and cable. Here's a few good articles to compare the two: - https://www.cnet.com/web-hosting/ - http://www.dslreports.com/faq/129 - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ - http://qc.centurylink.com/residential/internet/dsl_vs_cable.html - https://gen.xyz/
  2. Before I sold my last computer, I was using a Microsoft mouse. The description can be found here: http://ixbtlabs.com/articles2/ms-omouse-blue/ and http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I never had any problems with it, until I updated the driver to 4.1. Later, Microsoft released 5.0 which was stable.
  3. To answer the title, I am not religious, so I don't speculate about if there is a higher-power or not. We are what we appear to be, so I accept others opinions and ideas regardless of what I think. In my opinion, there is no "God" per say, but if there is, I haven't seen any evidence of it. Life is what we make it, and I'd rather make things happen than be passive about false ideas.
  4. The PS 3 is going to be 35 times more powerful than the PS2, and it is 1% as powerful as the human brain. On an article I read, in 45 years from now, it will be common for people to download their thoughts into a computer at the end of the day, and it will be cheap enough for almost anyone to own such a device. The lifespan of a computer will be shorter. It's quite exciting to think of how advanced technology is becoming, and at the same time, scarry.
  5. It's not crazy. It is inevitable. Please read this article: http://www.geek.com/date/2005/5/
  6. Who here plays Jedi Outcast, and what's your online name(s)? Does anyone host a server, or belong to a clan? I know it's old, but what do you think of the game? Please share all. My online name: DarkGod.
  7. One of my friends plays Guild Wars. The beta was released a while back, and it seemed to be a good game when I played it. The graphics are well done, but I've never tried the final release. You can find out more on their website here: https://www.guildwars.com/en/
  8. It's a very good game if you're a fan of Star Wars. If not, the lightsaber action may not appeal to you. The story is very similar to the movie, but they made it a little different obviously, so that it wasn't spoiled for the fans. My bother plays it on his PS2 all the time, and simply loves it. I've been wondering when he's going to get bored of it. lol Anyhow, I enjoy playing it when I visit him. There's at least one hidden map, and two hidden characters. I won't say who they are, you need to find them.
  9. Sweet! I've never seen "EstE" before when playing. My main online name is DarkGod (hehe). It's a black 'Dark', and red 'God'. I also wear a flag at the end. Other names I sometimes go by are PlayfulLamer, YellowSnow, and Padawan (obviously ). The servers I play on are oBs, and the server above it. It starts with "!!!F", but I forget the rest. Usually full force, ffa since I'm a serious player when it comes to winning, especially in duels. I try to only play on weekends, otherwise I'd end up playing every day! lol I'll be sure to look for you if you're ever on.
  10. There are pros and cons to both. Overall, I feel that Firefox would be a better choice for several reasons. It is slightly faster overall for surfing websites. It blocks most pop-ups, and stops almost all ad-aware cookies / spyware. It's free, user-friendly, and is constantly updated with new releases coming out. The Find feature (Ctrl + f) makes searching for key words very easy, and the options to clear out your history, cookies, cache, and other files is extremely fast compared to IE, and easy. I also think they are more active and concerned for security issues than Microsoft.IE on the other hand works with virtually any webpage so things show up the way they should. I've only had one webpage not show up quite right when using Firefox. Not a big deal, but still...I'm a Firefox person.
  11. Dual-core processing has been out for a short time now. Next year sometime, I hear they may be comming out with quad-core (4x) processing, on one die. The benchmarks are improved with dual-core, but are not doubled. Gamers will be pleased using these new processors the future when they are supported, but for now there are no current games which support dual-core processing for high-end graphical games, so it will only take advantage of one of the cores on the CPU rather than two. The future will change that, and AGP will no longer exist. PCI-Express is slowly moving in, and will become mainstream. Dual-core processors are extremely expensive at the moment, and are most likely not worth buying unless you have a lot of money. Here at AMD's site, you can refer to their latest prices: http://www.amd.com/en-us AMD's flagship at the moment is the AMD 55-FX. The architecture is outdated, running at 64-bit, 2.6GHz. The 57-FX is expected to be a new, updated architecture running at 2.8GHz. This is an excellent processor for gamers, with a hefty price tag. Most gamers will be satisfied with the midrange-class AMD 64 for desktop computers.
  12. New releases come out often whenever phpBB users find them. It's good that they update so quickly, so people's forums remain safer to use, and in order. I've personally known several people who had their forums hacked. Sometimes it's mods or portals they install. Other times, it's outdated forums. The coders sometimes make mistakes, but they correct it quickly with updates. Two versions I know which had major critical issues due to coding was 2.0.10 and 2.0.12.
  13. It was a very good movie with bad acting. I agree with Liquid-Fusion, it would be good if they get caught. Lucas is going to lose millions I'm sure due to the pirated material. I saw the preview of people getting these illegal copies on the news. It's unfortunate, but it happens. Most of the profits from the movies does not come from the priviews, but the toys.
  14. Thank you both for the warm welcome. There's only one game I still play online. Maybe someone here has heard of it, Jedi Outcast. It's a little addictive, so I try to stay away from playing other online games. hehe It seems like a cool community so far. If anyone here has any questions or problems using using phpBB, or wishes to update their forums, I'd be glad to help anyone out. As for HTML, like I said, I'm a newbie to it, but it's fun to experiment with. I'd show you all my old website, but it was deleted by my old provider. ttyal
  15. 1. Download the theme(s) you want from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 2. Use winzip and extract it to your computer somewhere 3. Take that file and put it in your "themes" folder on your FTP space 4. Use the ACP and install it so others can use it
  16. Sometimes being friends after a relationship is the best way to go, rather than getting them out of your life which makes it harder.
  17. Hey it worked! But immediately signing in on the main page, there's an add. When checking out the messages on the Inbox, there's nothing. Works for me! Thank you.
  18. 1. Don't go for Socket A. If I were you, I would wait until next year when Pin 940 becomes standard. Right now, it's 939, but AMD is going to be changing it. If you have to get it right now, go for a 939 pin mb so it supports future OSs. 2. Don't buy a Sony burner. You'll be dissapointed. Get either a Plextor, Yamaha, or LG. Also, don't buy an OEM. It's junk. Get something with a good warranty and burning software. 3. Good RAM. Crucial is the best. Go for one stick, instead of two 256MB. Also try to get PC-4000 if you can. If you run only Windows 98SE, never get more than 512 MB, or it won't work. 4. Don't go for a Maxtor. Get a Western Digital. Maxtors have a higher tendancy to break down faster. They are more quieter and cooler, but they just don't last as long. 5. Samsung is a good monitor. 6. If you're a serious gamer, you may want to go for the 800X or 850X. Depending on which games you play, you may want to go for a Nvidia 6 series. For future games, you may want to consider PCI-Express rather than 8X AGP.
  19. A seed flower grows beneath the soilThe energy sought is of purest whiteIt spreads to grow towards the sun of warmthFor heat from the lightMy feelings shall never completely dieDespite this time of coldMy friendship will remain yours, barted goneFor yours, it is soldThe petals will shine from the morning dewThe stem grows tall and strongIt always stands strong in the coldIt stands the winter longI lust the days that we have spentThose times were wonderful to shareBut now they are no longer rememberedFor they are no longer thereOne day we may look back and laughOf those times when we were youngRecalling the things we wished would have beenBut alas, they can never be doneAll around, the people we are unknowingAlways left in the darkFor they cannot be trustedAnd that is why we partEverything that we have shared was cherishedFor you are someone special to meAnd I hope one day we can continue where left offLike a new blossom from a treeThank you for being yourselfI think of you every dayYou are someone I still loveSo let's so continue being friends as we sayStarting over is the goal in mindIt's desires are trueI wish I could only feel the sameSince those feelings are for youOne day we continue where we left offBut a sure thing I know I can tell youNothing can be impossibleSince our efforts are for twoHere I am with open armsWishing for this chanceThis I hope will happen for usI am willing to keep my stanceWith all that has come to beYou will remain in my heartI cherish you as a person and friendSo let's not partBy: dg
  20. Considering how far you can get on a tank of gas, and how fast it is compared to running or biking, I'd say gas is still very inexpensive for what you get. There's always an alternative which if obviously more economically friendly, but that means sacraficing your time in the day, along with a lot of extra physical effort which is taxing, especially for older people. Gas still pays itself off. In another ten years, it may double in price! Maybe what people don't like, is the fact it has gone up so quickly in the past twenty years, plus it fluctuates often weekly.
  21. I'm not sure what the situation is based on with such little information, but she may be going through a difficult time in her life at the moment. It may be best to give her the space she wants for the time being. When she's ready, she'll talk to you again. Until then, just be cool.
  22. Hi everyone! I'd like to introduce myself. Don't let my name fool you. I'm new here, but have been an active member of several other forums in the past since March 18th of 2003 when I was introduced to a gaming clan called obsidiandragon. Since then, I have taken part in discussions at several other chat forums that mainly supported phpBB, one Invision Power Board, and one Web Wiz forum. Forums I've been on: http://obsidiandragon.net/smf/ (not active) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (not active) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (active) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (no longer exists) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (active) https://www.phpbb.com/ (active) http://www.phpbb-host.com/ (active) http://www.teenhangout.phpbb-host.com/ (active) http://www.focusonthefamily.com/ (somewhat active) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (not active) http://free.phpbb-host.com/freelancers/ (my old forums) Favorite Links: https://www.google.de/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=BwkjVKfAD8uH8QfckIGgCQ&gws_rd=ssl https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/contribute/friends/ http://www.geek.com/ http://www.tomshardware.com/ http://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/ http://yahoo.com/ http://www.infomine.com/ I enjoy meeting new faces online, and taking part in sharing new things. Some of my interests include geology, biking, jogging, computers (mainly hardware), forums and HTML (I'm a newbie), online gaming, and life. I plan to be active here, and hope to get to know more of you. P.S. I found out about Xisto from http://www.free-webhosts.com/ ~ dg ~
