Two days ago, a 14 year old boy from the Netherlands decided to quit his life, due to a lot of problems in both e-life and real life. The boy called Maarten, made a farewell post on a forum of his RuneScape clan, telling everyone the reasons for robbing himself of life. The last bit of suffer came from a friend of his, who hacked his RuneScape account, afterwards Maarten felt he lost his last friend, and decided life wasn't worth living anymore... I don't have the direct link to his farewell post, but this is a copy of it: https://cdn.techzine.nl/ Article in dutch: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Web Site Cpanel And Main Page Ip? How to find?
Florisjuh replied to MaineFishing45's topic in Web Hosting Support
Idon't have the time right now to check if this works, but it used to work a while back. Start > Execute > Type cmd A dos box should now open. Type: ping nameofyourdomainname eg. ping http://forums.xisto.com/ The returning IP should be the IP used for the server your website is on. Now, type the following url: theresultingipadress/~yourusername this should forward you to your website. -
Awesome featutes, now I just have to find someone who wants to talk to me.This beats Hotmail for the start, because hotmail requires MSN MEssenger (Or a compatible IM client) to login, or you use a webbased solution which are arround pretty much, but dont merge in with your mailbox as good as Google Mail + talk does. Also, the cross compatibility between the Google Talk IM client and Gmail Talk web client is a very neat feature.

I've joined the Xisto community 2 years ago (june 2004) and I have to say Xisto has only been improving since then, they have been the best free webhosting, and they have the best features for anyone willing to run a PROFESSIONAL website in stead of a buggy and slow website at different webhosts.

No competition at all, google mail whipes out Hotmail with easy in essense of space features and speed. Not to mention Hotmail is buggered with ads, while gmail only has a few relevant Google adsense ads. Also with Google introducing Gmail Talk right into your mailbox Gmail has outdone hotmail. Who needs MSN Messenger, when you can talk right away with all your Google Talk friends from https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false&continue= https://mail.google.com/mail/ ?

I guess I get what you mean, I administrate Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory servers for different clans (including my own) and admin abuse is a pretty popular topic nowadays, with a lot of visitors every day (About 1000, which is less than a mmorpg but a pretty nice ammount for a First Person Shooter game) trouble WILL arise, because of all the different nationality's and stuff, and when the problems arise the server admins are the ones responsible for fixing them. It's a pretty mad war, you have friends in your clan, people from other clans and just visitors, but you don't want to get in a fight with anyone, and often you will make dissisions which are in the favor of one, but negative for the others... Adn then you also have the cheating accusations from time to time, causing trouble not just between people but also between clans

Web Browsers Safest Internet Web Browsers
Florisjuh replied to Antihack's topic in Security issues & Exploits
orly <> Oh really? I've used Opera for a while and it was safe enough to say my experience with it was more than just bad. Firefox has the same features as Opera has, plus a lot bigger community meaning a lot more modifications to it, meaning the users can custimize it for their own better. Opera is far too heavy anyway. -
Hmm I used to use SSH for extracting files on my Xisto - Web Hosting account but I never knew it was available trough cPanel as well, thanks for mentioning.

PHP Nuke is most popular but it's just because it was one of the first portals available. IF you would ask me I wouldn't use any of those Portals, I would use CPG Dragonfly. IF you would use one of those two I would go for PostNuke. Setting up cpg dragonfly is pretty easy, create a mysql DB (cPanel > MySQL > Add Database) and assign a user to it (cPanel > MySQL > Add User, cPanel > MySQL > Assign user to table), then edit config.php with the mysql database & user settings you just created.

I'm wondering if any of you guys (from the netherlands) have DSL connected by KPN. I had (?) it till the 1st of February, we where hosted at an ISP called Planet Internet and we decided to move to "Direct ADSL" from KPN. We cancelled our Planet Internet account, and requested an account at KPN for Direct ADSL. We did that a month in advance, but still... We don't have ADSL right now, because something probably went wrong at the administration of KPN. They have promised fixing, and told us it would take one week, after one week we called, and they told us it would take another week, and now, they are saying it will TAKE ANOTHER week. i'm slowly turning crazy, 56k connection while having 1536k in the past really EATS you SLOWLY, at the moment I can chat and visit websites about 3 hours a day at home, and 1 hour at school, I can't download anything (far too slow), I can't play games, I can't install Visual Studio Express edition, and KPN is just... toying arround with us promising fixes they don't give us. :rolleyes:Anyone else had any kinds of these problems with KPN or their internet provider?

Harry Potter 6 Spoilers! Warning: Harry Potter 6 Spoilers
Florisjuh replied to semeticsister's topic in General Discussion
This topic contains some great opinions and material, thanks for all the people who posted here. I'm a Harry Potter fan myself as well, and I think Dumbledore (Never read the book in english so all the names are new ^^, I should read it in english once tho..) isn't dead, and Snape isnt evil either. I'm affraid we need to wait for the new HP book to come out so we can all get relieved. -
No this is wrong, every "stage" Xisto grew they have issued updates to keep their services top-notch. I've been arround Xisto from the beginning, and they have only become better. Downtime was much worse at the start, but the service is a lot more up now than back then.

Best Online Game favourite online game for PS2
Florisjuh replied to Alex_W's topic in Computer Gaming
The game I'm addicted to for over two years already is called "Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory", it was first planned to be an add-on to the original Return to Castle Wolfenstein, but because the single player developers weren't doing their jobs correctly the single player part never got finished and Activision decided to scrap the project as addon. Another developer called "Splashdamage" was responsible of the multiplayer part of the game, but they did their job it was supposed to be, so Activision decided to release the multiplayer side of the game for free. Altrough Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is far over it's most popular point it still rests int he top 10 multiplayer games of this time. Some links to the game: http://www.splashdamage.com/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ developer of Wolfentein: Enemy Territory (SplashDamage) is now working on another multiplayer only game, together with iD Software and Activision. The game is called "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" and will combine the best gameplay from Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory with the Quake universe, with big maps and vehicles (ala Battlefield 2) using the Doom 3 engine with an amazing new technoligy called "MegaTexturing". -

The Best Way To Make Money I have earned 675? this month
Florisjuh replied to mimi_hat's topic in Business Forum
The BEST way to earn money from the internet is to set up a nice website with lot's of information on it, and get people to visit it on regulary base. Then, after it got very popular you should serving ads on it (The more content your website has the more ads you can put on it).My clansite generates about 100 dollar every 2 months, not bad for a website with about 15 active members heh? :)I use Google Adsense btw, it rocks. Was using AdHearus before but they disappeared withoud ever paying me.
