  1. Thanks for the replies guys! So I finally downloaded google chrome and yes the installer was rather annoying (because I am behind a proxy so it wouldn't download) but I worked around that. All in all I think it's a decent browser, very FAST but in terms of features and plugins, not quite there yet.Firefox will remain my no.1 browser for now.I'm interested to see where google takes Chrome from here on in.
  2. Butter contains lots of saturated fats which are really unhealthy. Some Margarines can contain high concentrations of trans fats which when absorbed into the body act similarly to saturated fats and therefore are also really unhealthy (although most margarines nowadays no longer have really high trans fat levels). So basically when you choose a margarine, you should pick one with very little trans fats. When you do that, it is the healthier option compared to butter. However, butter definitely wins when it comes to taste
  3. Interesting research, but it sounds like a trade-off to me. Aspirin isn't a side effect free drug and can cause other problems like gastric ulcers and death from haemorrhaging.Still, I have heard that taking aspirin regularly can reduce the risk of heart attacks (because it also thins the blood, reduces risk of clot formation and blocking of your coronary artieres) and such but you need to weigh up the benefits and risks. In the end its probably best just to ask your doctor about it.
  4. Not sure if this is true but it's a great leap forward if so. Hopefully this research/ technology becomes more widely available in the near future.
  5. Well personally I don't find cricket all that entertaining (test cricket that is) because it is a very slow paced game and for those (like me) who don't understand the strategy and skill behind winning test matches and batting and bowling, it makes for very boring viewing. Some of my friends say 20 20 cricket takes the skill out and is seriously just a ball bashing fest but it is definitely the more entertaining version to watch! It just looks like more fun and has actually gotten me to watch a few games and enjoy them!Thats just my 2 cents though... I don't know much about this new IPL league in India and how it'll affect cricket as a whole but as a viewer, I do enjoy the 20-20 matches
  6. It's a pretty fun game when you've got a group of people and you can battle it out with the guitars drums/mic. On your own it's pretty mundane although as you move up the levels I guess there's a sense of accomplishment? Although I do believe the time spent playing could be spent much better actually learning the Instrument instead. I guess there's also the aspect of the music, it's just a bit of fun incorporated into listening to good music (even though i'm not really into rock that much)Overall I think it's more of a group game to muck around with a group of friends... I haven't/won't buy it personally but its always a welcome addition to any house party!
  7. My favorite games would have to have been 1. The Final Fantasy series2. Half life, one of the first games I got into3. GTA series, another collection of great gamesThey're only the ones I can think of off the top of my head though, don't know if they'd be characterized as best games of all time as I don't play that many but they're all really good
  8. Like many other people have said, I think your best option is to make quality posts here and get enough mycents to convert into a domain name. It won't take that long and forum posting is pretty fun!Good luck with it
  9. I've only ever really played final fantasy RPG's. Thanks for the other suggestions guys, really helpful.I have tried suikoden and did enjoy it and would recommend it.Kingdom hearts sounds interesting, maybe I will go buy it as a Christmas present for myself
  10. It was an ok film, had it's funny moments and some underlying serious issues but it wasn't one of my favorites. It was interesting how they explored the concept of being 'god' and how they depicted that even if you made certain choices (e.g. say YES to every single request), there would be severe consequenes and running everything isn't as simple as it sounds. I don't know what I would do if I was in Jim Carey's position... it's quite a big responsibility to have and I personally don't think I'm informed well enough to make good decisions, unless they're for personal gain of course. But that would defeat the purpose
  11. caffeine is definitely a drug, like you said a CNS stimulant. It also targets the 'reward' pathways in your brain so that you associate caffeine with positive effects and therefore crave more. That also means there are withdrawl symptoms when you stop drinking caffeine like headaches etc.Of course the toleration thresholds for caffeine for different individuals vary.Personally if I drink one can of redbull or V my hands start shaking, it has a really strong effect on me, whereas other people can drink cans of it or many cups of coffee and still be perfectly normal.
  12. I tried opera for a while some years ago and it was a pretty nice browser but it didn't quite have the range of extensions and addons that firefox does to enhance its range of function AND some websites didn't show up properly? (i don't know if that is still a problem) so i switched back to firefox.IE is a browser I hardly use now, it is just there on my computer, i'm really not a big fan of ie7 even after they introduced tabbed browsing etc, firefox and opera were way ahead of them in that department.
  13. I don't know about macbooks specifically but my laptop fan turns on and off periodically. The heat sensors automatically switch the fan on after it exceeds a certain temperature. Most laptops do start to feel a bit hot after a while but that is pretty normal and everything should still run stable. My friend who recently bought a macbook hasn't really had any problems with overheating as far as I've heard.
  14. It's very difficult to maintain a long distance relationship but it really does depend on your expectations. If it is a temporary separation then and you have future plans/goals for one of you to perhaps move and visit etc then it could work because you guys have something to look forward to.I have had friends that have made long distance relationships work, it's alot harder than having a relationship with someone who lives in the same city as you and requires alot more commitment but it is do-able.
  15. 'natural' sleeping pills? sleeping pills in themselves are unnatural. our body is designed with circadian rhythms so we have a natural built in sleep wake cycle.sleeping pills are dangerous, pretty much if you overdose you're sent into a sort of 'induced coma' where your brain activity is depressed. if it is depressed severely enough with an overdose you pretty much stop breathing because your bodily functions controlled by parts of your brain are also beginning to shut down. They can be useful in some cases I suppose but always take them with caution!
  16. hahaha got sucker? By all means people can believe in those things but I need to see it before I believe it. I've heard of them before but the photo doesn't look very realistic :?.
  17. As far as I know Butter is an animal product which is made from milk/cream whereas Margarine is made from solidifying vegetable oils or olive oil.Personally i think butter tastes much better than margarine and I use it more for cooking but I still spread margarine on toast purely because it is more spreadable and easier to work with.
  18. No currently I don't believe in ghosts. I'm one of those 'seeing is believing' people and until I actually see one with my very own eyes and am sure it's not just my mind or eyes playing tricks on me then perhaps I will be converted. As for now, a non believer
  19. The wii is one of those new 'innovative' consoles that Nintendo's released, sort of like the DS. There really is a toss up between innovation and graphics in terms of comparing Nintendo consoles with say the Sony one's.NDS vs PSP (of course the ds is more innovative with its stylus and touch screens but if you want games with graphics PSP is the way to go)same goes for Wii, the games are cool, different with interesting addons like mario kart, sports etc where the controllers really do control the game and things like Wii fit etc but I agree graphics are not the greatest. It's more the interactive side of the games that makes it appealing. It's not all about button bashing but actually allows you to move around. One of my friends owns a Wii and his greatest problem with it at the moment is playing Guitar hero world tour on it. He's annoyed because he can't download songs as the Wii has no harddrive to store them on? (unlike the PS3)
  20. Really difficult question. For Playstation, I'd have to say the best version I've played is FF7, probably because it was the first final fantasy game I'd ever played and I was blown away by the awesome characters and cool story. As for GBA I really enjoyed FF3. I think its definitely a classic.Tactics advance is also pretty good, different from the other games but I enjoyed the 'tactics' aspect of it. The story was also really interesting. The newer final fantasy's for DS (which I've recently played e.g. revenant wings, crystal chronicles) have better videos/graphics but overall I still like the old games better.Having said all that though, I don't think there's a final fantasy game out there that I've played and haven't enjoyed.
  21. I love the Sims franchise. Sims 2 was a great game, spent so many hours building houses and developing characters.I like how they've included a few features from expansion packs onto the actual game (cars, restaurants, beaches etc). All the expansion packs for Sims 2 were getting a bit much for me to keep up with. From the links Sims 3 looks really promising. Looking forward to its release
  22. I dont mind the topic range trap 17 has to offer, that way you can pretty much express your opinion about anything. It's sort of what makes Xisto a good community, I can find lots of things I'm interested in and just share my opinions/knowledge (or lack thereof).Although the search function is slightly annoying. Still, on the whole Xisto is the best post 2 host out there as far as I'm concerned. The services they provide are awesome and I haven't found a competitor out there that offers better.
  23. Wow, who would've thought she would get sued for trying to help her friend like that. It's true, today's society is based so much around the courts. Anything goes wrong and the first stop is a lawyers office. These cases of emergency rescues are a touchy issue. With news like this around who is going to be a good samaritan and help out voluntarily? i'd certainly think twice.Hopefully cases like these are rare :?.
  24. I don't think there are only 2 people who can solve the rubix cube. Personally I can solve the rubix cube although u need to give me a good 5-10 minutes or so to work it out. Some of the videos on youtube of people finishing rubix cubes in seconds are quite amazing! It requires alot of training and thought but once you get the hang of it the patterns become easy to spot and easy to twist around and make the faces all the same colour.
  25. Currently I am athiest and dont believe in a particular religion. I agree with you that religious tolerance has decreased in recent years, especially with the whole 'terroism' issue which people immediately associated with Muslims. Muslims on the whole are a good group of people, it is just the very few who twist their beliefs into extremism and are taught to hate anyone that does not agree with them who are giving the religion a bad name.I am respect people's beliefs as long as they do not try and force me into believing the same things they do.
