  1. That's tough that you got busted. Now you have to move on. Theres no point in thinkingyour a rebel, it won't get you anywhere. Right now what you need is good p.r. That can come in the form of getting good marks at school. Perhaps working at a part time job too.Show people your together.Do these things and just ride it out, and everything will be allright.Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Time heals everything.

  2. I wish Bettman would go back to where he came from. The jerk is ruining a perfectly good sport. Hockey in Florida? and Arizona? Get real... He is just sucking up to the American Owners. Why not Hamilton or Winnipeg? Atlantic Canada? Saskatoon? Quebec City? ... because Bettman can't find them on a map... the twerp!

Couldn't of said it better. That's absolutely true. Bettman should go back to his stupid little NBA, and quit Americanizing a sport that doesn't need Americanizing. As the song goes :
I don't need your ghetto scenes
I don't need your war machines
    You're no good for me!
    I'm no good for you!

Another thing, who decided that Toronto and Detroit should only play each other twice out of every three years?
    Bettman!
That was a fierce rivalry that Bettman has destroyed. Don't reconfigure the league for expansion teams at the
    expense of destroying
the old rivalries. Let new teams find their own rivalries.
Can you imagine in the NFL, if they say broke up the Green bay/Chicago rivalry? It wouldn't happen.

    Gary Bettman is a jerk.

  3. The main drawback of the BOSS BR-600 is definitely the small storage capacity. It's only like what, 128mb? I can't remember, but there's no room at all to store many full songs. It only supports 1GB cards max, I can't bring myself to buy a $60 1GB card available from Roland when they are selling 8GB cards for $20 in the computer store. Nobody sells 1GB cards anymore. I use it for a practice tool which it does really well, record a few rhythm tracks, loop it, jam for hours.. If I was going to do some serious recording, I'd probably get something more powerful.
I'm not too fond of recording directly to a computer because of all the wires everywhere, and the acrobatics involved in doing anything. I'm constantly yanking my headphones out of the socket, or knocking things off the desk with a guitar, breaking my back trying to stretch and reach a guitar pedal on the floor with my hand, pulling a muscle trying to stretch that extra inch to reach the record button with the mouse. Then sometimes, I want to throw some keyboards in, I have to set it on my lap.. constantly balancing it from falling over, how uncomfortable is that! In theory, there's probably some way to organize things a little more intuitively, with longer cables but still. Organization was never my strong point.

You should do some more guitar-related posts, It'd be great to see some posts like that this one going on around here more often. What kind of stuff do you play? Rock? Blues? I was working on a guitar related website actually, but I got distracted and nothing really came of it.

I've played everything for a dollar at one time or another. What I like to play is more rock based though.
The bar scene is awful now. The people who run them expect the musicians to do it all. I should have lots of
gigs coming up soon anyway though.
Also, It wasn't the Br-600 that I had, but the BR-864. I happened to find the old box that I had for it.
For me though, I can do anything recording on the computer without that.

  4. Maybe you could try using one of those mouth guard things that boxers wear. They must be
safe to wear during sleep, since I've never heard of a boxer swallowing one during a fight.
At least trying that would be better than long term grinding of the teeth and wearing them down,
    losing enamel etc.

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Actually, they do make night guards for teeth:

    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Surely these would help. It would at least relieve stress in knowing that your teeth won't deteriorate more.
    That's a first step.

  5. You know, the problem here could very well begin because he doesn't have enough air circulationwhere ever he's sleeping. This would lead to breathlessness, followed by panic attacks, culminating in outright paranoia when this gets the psychological edge over him. Try sleeping with a fan on. This will improve air circulation and also the sound of the fan can be the most calming. It sounds like waves and the sea. It can be most soothing.Open windowswould also help, providing theres not too much noise in the area where you live. Also, maybe cut back on certain stimulants such as coffee if anything.

  6. That's Microsoft for you. They change things just for the sake of changing them, the real reason being that whensomebody has to 'upgrade' something there are usually all kinds of spin off things that must be upgraded too. Itgets Micro$oft rolling in the money even more. Very inconsiderate and very arrogant.Thank god for Linux. They day will come when I switch to using them.

  7. Internet explorer has always been virus prone. That's why I never use it, and haven't for years.Although I sometimes use Opera and Safari, which I might use more, Mozilla has always been greatas far as never being hit by viruses when using it. Why I don't know. Perhaps it has something to dowith being prompted for downloads. The more you use Microsoft the more susceptible to Viruses you appear to be. For example, any microsoft sql software on your computer is a favorite target for these viruses.I've been talking about switching to Linux for a long time and haven't yet, but it's inevitable.

  8. The aircraft in the image looks like one of those model airplanes that you can buy which you glue together. I am not sure how long these planes are, but i get the impression that i should be able to see some tip of the back of the aircraft through one of the windows of the apartments. Secondly, the shadow at the bottom wing doesn't add up like the other shadows do. It could be argued that it is the shadow of one of the balconies; however, the light isn't coming from that direction. Also, i really doubt these planes have the authority to fly so low to civilian ground. :) !

There is no way that picture is a fake! No way!

As a matter of fact it reminds me of one time when I flew from Diesal Illinois to Allemagro South Carolina.
Some people on board decided to open a side panel of the plane, and since it was rather hot and stuffy inside the plane, it created a nice breeze.
Anyway some people on board had some parachutes in their carry on bags and decided to do some air surfing.
My friend walked out on the wing and took this photo :
    http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Now that was a thrill to see!

  9. That is a pretty neat picture. I wonder if the air force senior officers would approve of a plane flying that low so close to civilian buildings? Maybe not, I'd say.Maybe in Detroit they don't really care, since half the buildings there are vacant and falling apart anyway. This reminds me of when I was a kid in Manchester England, and saw a plane fly over our house solow it was ridiculous. I've often wondered why. That was a thrill though.

  10. NASA recently found a object in space orbiting a sun that was hotter then the sun but did not fit in any known dwarf star size. And the weird part is it has the density of Styrofoam. Makes you really wonder what else could be out there. A moon made of cheese maybe? :) Also makes me laugh at people who don't think there is other life out there as well.

How do they know for sure how hot it was? Did they actually have it in their hands?
There will be all kinds of things floating around in outer space, it would probably boggle the mind.

  11. Finally got caught with pot in probably the worse places ever. First I would like to say that I don't think smoking pot is a problem. I think that drinking and smoking cigarettes is way worse. Its just pots been illegal for so long its really easy to get people to believe that it is really bad. The only bad thing I can say so far in my 3 years of smoking is money, memory. Yea It takes you money and then you start to not remember things very well. I don't mean like really bad memory loss. Just like you sometimes forgot stuff. My cousin has the same memory problem so I think its the weed :) . But anyways I couldn't get any my normal way because of some unavailability of rides. But I decided to just get some at school. Which is really sketchy for me. I know people so it was easy. He just gave it to me at lunch. And next thing you know I'm being called down to the office. So there I am scared out of my mind when they just say oh never mind we were not looking for you you can leave now. So right when I get out of there I pass it to someone else because I'm all scared now. They call me back in search me say the have enough evidence. Try and get me to say where it went. I told them someone flushed it for me and that I would not give out his name. Now all this was over a course of three hours. I was so shaken up by all this. I got a police referral and five day suspension. I don't know what a police referral is and I really want to know what that means. Also counselling, I have a rough idea but when does that mean specifically. I wish people just understood that marijuana is not as bad as people make it out to be. But when it comes to all the other bad stuff, cigarettes, alcohol, some of the medications they prescribe to people. Its pretty ridiculous. I'm happy to say that after the drug test in 45 days I will continue to enjoy and smoke marijuana.

If they didn't actually catch you with any in your possession then there isn't anything they can really do.
Depending on how old you are, they might try and put you into some kind of rehab program.

Everything in moderation they say. If weed were legalized it wouldn't be grouped together with dangerous things
such as cocaine and methamphetamine. The fact is alcohol is much, much more worse and fully legal. Alcohol
is just as destructive if not more so than any narcotic
Marijjuanna is no priority to me. Sometimes the law could be a bit more objective and equal across the board though.
If your going to ban one thing then ban them all, including alcohol.

Only a complete hypocrite would condemn marijuana and then go and get drunk.

  12. I wish I were a witch. I badly wish I were a witch,or warlock rather! As a matter of factI so badly wish I were a warlock that it's indescribable. I mean,
if I were a warlock I'd have magic powers, at least that's what I've read
    about in the newspaper.
Just to think I'd be able to have anything I wanted by just simply casting a spell!
    Why can't it be so?
Fact is though, without the title you just don't have the mojo whatsoever.
It's all in a title isn't it? I'd rather be called a warlock than have a stupid knighthood
or be president of the us of a.
    Ah well. Such is life.

This response was tongue in cheek. I just wanted to see what the reaction would be.As far as I
    believe, there
is no such thing as withcraft or black magic or white magick or majik or whatever.
Whatever other people want to believe, then fine providing it doesn't hurt anybody else.
I like Halloween too, but unfortunately we can't have it all year.

  14. While I can see what you mean about this. I think its unfair to say that Open Source has killed the industry. Yes, many people will use open source over paying for software, but there is so much software which doesn't have an open source equivalent, and so much which is well worth paying for over the open source equivalent.
For instance Microsoft office. Yes, you could use open office, or get star office for less, or use google docs. But everyone uses MS office, and most people find it easiest. I use lots of open source software, but I still buy Microsoft office when new versions come out because I like it, and it is quicker to use, in my opinion, than the free or cheaper versions.

I think I used a little too strong of terminology when I said "killed" software.
It's just having so much open source software I think helped accelerate us towards the
glut of having tons of unused quality software that we currently have, and as I said, messageboards
and other software that are the backbone of websites,
should not be completely free for sites that are profit oriented.
Stronger copyright rights/protection/laws wouldn't of hurt programmers either.

  15. When I was in school there were one or two students in particular, who seemed to be doing okay, who a few years later wound up in special class. Nobody appeared tonotice any thing particularly different about them. When they wound up in special class, nobody bugged them or anything. Perhaps a few peoplewere suspicious of them, or even curious. I never bothered asking them any questions about the special class though. I guess it would of seemed impolite.

  16. Being open source does not mean, it does not bring earnings. If you see wordpress website, it is full of affiliate links to wordpress hosts. I think they might get a fortune from affiliates. I have the same opinion on phpbb forum. You always see ads and affiliate links at their official website. So being opensource brings lots of money too. Plus there are hundreds of people who try to give ideas about problems and upgrades at open source projects.

Absolutely. My only wish really is that open source software wasn't quite as open as it has been.
The way things could of been is something akin to, if a website wanted to use say a messageboard
for free fine, but as soon as a site becomes profit making, then a certain percentage of it's profits
to a certain extent should go to the creators of the free software they are using. I think that's a nice
    compromise.

  17. What does anybody think of the shootout in the NHL? Some say that it shouldn't be part of the game because it's not really a 'team' oriented process in a team oriented game. Myself, I'm fine with the 5minute overtime during regular season, but really, could do without the shootout. I could see the use of it during the playoffs, IF, the NHL were a low scoring game like soccer and hadone game playoffs instead of the seven game series that we have. Fact is we don't have those things,so I wouldn't miss the shoot out.

  18. Maybe, I am wrong to say this, it might even sound harsh... but to me it really seems like you are blaming your own failures and shortcomings on open source.

Who the #&^&^&% are you? Yes you are wrong. Here on Xisto we are encouraged to create discusssion

for discusssions sake, not to get harsh with people. I wasn't blaming anybody.

Besides that you're list is weak. I mean Sun micro systems open office, definitely a small operation from some cutting edge programmers? Give me a break. Your paltry list covers a lot of years.

As I said, take a look at the list of thousands and thousands of free and cheap software directories.

Almost all of this software is high quality and UNUSED. Don't blame me, blame the market. Basic laws of

economics, basic laws of supply and demand at work.

  19. did you write this post to make yourself feel better about what you do?anytime you are placing money on an outcome that can't be predicted, it is gambling. PERIOD. the only difference is the degree of the risk versus reward. even a person who can win 70% of all their sports bets doesn't mean they aren't gambling with their money. especially if they had always bet more on the losing teams.
stock market is always a gamble. sure, there are safer "investments" like american express or disney etc...but even the professionals lost millions a year and a half ago.

so i don't really know why you are saying there is a difference between gambling and controlled speculation because for the most part, controlled speculation is still gambling.

i mean, come on. you mentioned the roulette wheel. if we are just talking betting on #'s and the law of averages, then that too can be considered controlled speculation....just like flipping a coin. already knowing that heads will come up 50%. or a number will come up 2.8% of the time(or something like that). but take in any place that puts caps and betting limits....then it ruins those laws of averages.

in sports, there are injuries every day...but although they happen every day, you will never know who's going to be getting injured on any specific day that can change the odds and an outcome.

there is only a few gamblers can do to minimize their losses. play the right games, bet the right amount of money, and know HOW the games work. to determine your choices. even with that recipe though, every time you put your money on something that isn't gauranteed to make you money, it is gambling.....PERIOD.

so controlled speculation to me is only a way to minimize losses. not to maximize wins. you have some people hedge their bets or "investments" to minimize losses....but that doesn't mean it still isn't gambling. in fact, not only are they minimizing their losses, but they are minimizing their gains at the same time to where it's almost like they didn't bet/gamble/invest at all.

so again, i ask, are you a controlled speculator because you just don't want to be considered someone who gambles? because controlled speculation will still always be considered gambling.....

Perhaps I did post this to get some perspective on it. I'm a restrained dabbler of this speculation or
gambling or whatever you want to call it. I haven't lost any money with it, although I've just made peanuts so to speak. Although I fear I'm spending too much time studying team sheets and checking injury lists and
home wins and away wins and such.

I would never condone gambling to anybody. rather just tell them not to bother. My goal with this is to slowly let
the very small gains made from this, add up and pay for itself, so if the day ever happened where I lost
100 dollars, which I would no doubt quit after that, no money of mine would of actually been lost.
    So far so good.

  20. Software development is definitely not a dying field, If anything open source has changed it positively by forcing programmers to come up with more innovative and creative software.

I can appreciate the fact that people say there are certain benefits of open source software, and these can't be denied. The thing is where are these innovative and creative software programs that are breaking through?
I know that somebody will come up with a list, but all I can say is that it's probable that this list will still be much too small to show a real ratio of productivity when one thinks of the great number of skilled,
semi-skilled programmers out there and the small tiny rewards over all.

I know Mozzilla will be included in this list. We've all built browsers before. I never really saw the brilliance of Mozilla anyway. I think they just got lucky. Who wants to know about garbage collection anyway?

This widely accepted innovative software will be nothing but a drop in the ocean though. Half the reason being no doubt, that the public generally just won't give fresh ideas by cutting edge small time programmers a chance.

I made several applications that were indeed cutting edge. All that happened to them was that they became a tiny, tiny needle in the gigantic haystack plethora of free software directories that are out there.
    Rarely seen, rarely used.
The same public wants to gladly suffer the extremely bloated, over priced Adobe flash.
Where is the alternative to that? Where are these cutting edge software programmers when
    you need them?

  21. People go on about the benefit of open source software, which is great when you can use php for free and it doesn't cost you any money etc. What about the other side of the coin though? The open source mentality has appeared to kill moreopportunity than it's created. Take this message board as an example. Many web sites are poweredby free forums and message boards, and they are all for free. Is this really good?By doing this, programmers and coders become dime a dozen nobodies, and companies such as google can just walk in and clean up the rest. Can you imagine such a thing happening in the construction field? Can you imagine if all plumbers declared themselves open source and offered their services for free? It would kill the construction industry.Such an attitude would kill any industry. All very fine isn't it? Many, many people who learned programming in college are nowstuck with a skill that in many cases is basically worthless. That combined with the easy ability to just copy software, and the lack of proper copyright protectionadds up to something that just isn't very good at all.Now the way things are, everybody and his nineteen cousins are now 'software developers'.Probably more so than even house painters.Software is no longer a very enlightening field to say the least.
