Okay, the reason that inbreeding causes issues is that when two related people procreate, their DNA is extremely similar, and it is more likely that dangerous recessive genes will match and create problems for the baby. When people with vastly different genes procreate, dangerous recessive genes are less likely to surface.So, you can conclude that Adam and Eve's family were okay for a couple of reasons. God, being all-(insert a good descriptive word here), would have foreseen all of the problems possible and would make Adam and Eve with basically opposite genes. She had brown eyes, he had blue. He was tall, she was short. One was AA, the other aa. Or something like that. I'm not a geneticist. Another reason is that God made humans perfectly. Then we had to go and screw things up. We all know what radiation, cancer, etc. can do to our DNA. Over the years, more genetic diseases could easily have been created by our stupidity. All kinds of things could have happened.

What you need to do is find a sleep clinic near you. I'm actually in the middle of Tennessee, but within 20 minutes of two clinics. I'm not sure what you're talking about with the "night waking disease". Perhaps you mean insomnia. Anyway, I could give you a few tips that help most people (including me) fall asleep better every night: Exercise daily. You would not believe how much this help. And I'm not just saying 20 push-ups in the morning, either. I'm talking 45 minutes of basketball, running a couple of miles, a good game or two of racquetball, or something else that'll have your heart pumping a little more than usual. Eat less meat and more veggies/fruit. Meat takes FOREVER to digest, and makes it difficult to sleep. At least have your protein/fat in the morning or for lunch, as eating a light supper is also a good way to relieve your stomach so you can sleep better. Drink lots of water. And less non-water liquids. Especially don't drink anything with caffeine. It seriously helps. Get up earlier (7:00 a.m. or earlier--try for 6) and go to bed earlier (11:00 p.m. or earlier--try for 10 [i know, tall order]). It will take time to get used to it, but you will. Especially work on those hours before midnight, as it seems the hours at that time are better for your sleep than anything. Anyway, I basically just rattled off a few things I've been told over and over by psychologists and nutritionists--the simple version. 'Tis the result of going to an Adventist university (Adventists are notoriously health-conscious).

I beg to differ! My church is very good about NOT doing that. In fact, we make it a point to never force ideas on people. Most of our missionaries go to a place, learn the culture, and live with the people for a year or two, helping them in every way possible. The people start forming trust and start asking questions. That is when they start "preaching". Actually, our church (a worldwide church, with over 20 million members and missionaries in every country of the world) has a ministry where they take electric water pumps and drills across Africa (I can't remember the name of the giant aquifer upon which they are situated) and dig wells for people in the desert. The people show so much gratitude and ask why we would do something like that for them. This opens up the great "Jesus is the living water" analogy. Maybe my church is the exception, but I surely hope not. I've had teachers, pastors, friends (even in academy I had friends that went to India), relatives (my cousin went to Africa for a year, my uncle's family went to Thailand for a few years) and others (or did I include just about everyone I know?) that were missionaries. I even went down to Mississippi (18-hour drive) twice for week stretches after hurricane Katrina. In fact, all I did down there was work (demolition, construction, clean-up). Only when someone asked and seemed truly interested did we start to tell them our mission. When people see what we do and how we act, that should be our main testimony. Then they get curious, we start telling Christ's story, and that's when we gain in numbers. I think some people in this thread must have had some sort of bad experience with missionaries or something. I'm kind of disappointed that you have these ideas. I can't imagine what it is.

Thanks you guys that posted a long time ago! I just love poking fun at people who use arcane calculations to try and make something seem more fascinating. Okay, radiation does not accumulate over time. It's like light--it doesn't build up. If you turn a light off, it turns off. Also, radiation is pretty constant; radiation will not steadily get worse as you talk on your phone. Another thing: a less powerful source (i.e., a cell phone) will not penetrate as far as a more powerful source (i.e., a microwave oven), no matter how much time is involved, because microwaves do not carve pathways through your skull. So, I don't think that talking for an hour a day on your phone for years is even close to as harmful as sticking your head in a microwave oven for a couple of minutes. If anything, people should be worried about TV radiation....

Well, it screws up my table. It also leaves errors on the page. I've validated it with W3C and such, but it just doesn't like to work in IE. However, the whole point is rather moot now, as I have decided to go with MyBB rather than Wordpress. I got what I wanted in less time. Thanks anyway.

I've been experimenting in IE hacks (PHP, CSS, and HTML hacks), but I still haven't found anything that works. I wouldn't mind having some sort of hack that disables the search form in IE and instead leaves a link to the search page, or a link to download any browser other than IE. Does anybody have a good idea? Just say "screw IE" and make a valid page that works in everything else and forget about IE?

Truefusion, I'm not saying that God used "ultimate persuasion" on Pharoah. I believe that Pharoah just didn't want God ruining his way of life. Pharoah believed that he was a god himself. He may have been given proof of the existence of God, but he was stuck in his little power struggle, so he completely hated God, hardening his heart. Pharoah didn't like the new competition, so he made a firm stand against God. And ORene, there are some symbolic numbers in the Bible, but they're written a little differently. In Daniel, for instance, it doesn't refer to days, rather "times". If you do the math, you can see how the prophecies were fulfilled. On day 3 of creation, God created plants. Then on day 4, God created the Sun. If a day equals a year in Genesis, how did all of the vegetation survive for an entire year without photosynthesis? God had already created light, but the Sun is the main food for most plants nowadays. Plus, the Sun makes the right kind of light for plants. The only argument in favor of day-years is that maybe God put up a temporary fix--a light for the plants until he could get around to the Sun. I just don't see God doing something sloppy like that. I believe that people actually did live to be 100s of years old. I also believe that people were generally taller, in better health, and were in many other ways superior to humans today. It kinda makes sense that the human race would degrade like that over the course of a couple thousand years. Imagine if McDonald's was around back than! We'd have a 10-year lifespan or something horribly low like that.

Okay, "hardened his heart" doesn't necessarily mean that God took away Pharoah's/Saul's freedom of choice... it just means that God made them angry and more stubborn when he made it clear they were doing things wrongly. If you "know" you're right, and I try to convince you otherwise, you will just become more stubborn and "harden your heart".And goodness, "completely dry" can mean lots of things. It could mean that all the water had run off of the land that was going to. Say I have 20 acres (our family actually used to) with a creek. It rains 2 feet one day and floods the banks, covering several acres. Over the course of a week, all the water has gone back down to a normal level. I would say that our 20 acres have finally dried up, even though the creek is still flowing, just at a normal level. It's just the way people talk. People in the Bible didn't spell out everything in technical language, nor do we now. Genesis was not written as a science textbook, more as a history book. And for the entire earth to recover from such a flood, it would probably take a year for all the water to dump back into the oceans. I believe that the Grand Canyon is a great example of a "flood river". It's still flowing today, but I doubt that Noah heard from North America that there was still some runoff, seeing as how he landed on a mountain in present-day Turkey.
