  1. i didn't even know they had browsers on mobile phones. one question where can you download it? is it free?

i'm getting the nokia 6500 and i want to put the opera browser on. can someone tell me how?

Yes, joeblogg...its free. Just go to http://www.opera.com/ and download it from there. Click on download and you'll get three options of downloading....download to mobile, download to pc etc...

If you want to download it to pc first..select download to pc. You then have to select your phone model from the list

(Nokia 6500 slide or classisc in your case). Then you'll be given links to download. Click on the jar file link, a jar file will be downloaded to your system. Send this jar file to your mobile and install it. Thats it. :)

Or if you have internet access in your mobile go to http://www.opera.com/mobile and click on Download Opera Mini. Then installation messages will appear, answer yes to all to install operamini.

  3. I agree we can go for .net, .org or anyother TLDs, but .com is the best option. Because most people think of the .com if they want to go for some website. And also most of the browsers will automatically go to .com sites if the user entered only the name without extension.

To say it clearly, suppose you have http://www.afternic.com/forsale/SomeName.net?utm_campaign=tdfs_namefind&traffic_id=Namefind&traffic_type=TDFS domain. But most of the users will type http://www.somename.com/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=t by mistake. So they will go to that site instead.

And coming to browsers issue, if suppose the user typed somename in the address bar and hit enter most browsers will take him to http://www.somename.com/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=t. So you lost here also.

If that somename.com providing different content there is a chance that the user will try for other extensions. But what if the somename.com providing almost same services as your somename.net. You'll lose your visitors. So, .com is always a preferable one.

No, I am not saying .net, .org extensions are waste. What I'm saying is .com is better than those, atleast for most of us who can't spend money on advertising our site.

But a small suggestion. If your website is providing service or have content specific to some country, then going to the country code TLD(ccTLD) like .us, .uk, .in etc... is best option. They'll give some what assurance to the visitor from that country and also better search engine ranking in that country.

So, choose your domain carefully. Prefer .com's, try for different but meaningful combination of names. If no choice left then go for others TLDs. :)

But we have to remember one more thing. Content of our site is more important than all these. Content Is King :)

  4. Now my question is where will the control panel to access all of these be? Will it be located in the Cpanel itself, or some kind of separate paneling just for the DNS?

If you have domain name at Xisto - Web Hosting you can go here http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. Login with your Xisto - Support username and password. You can manage your domain like changing name servers etc here. You'll find the Managed DNS option there. But unfortunately its a paid service. You need to order this Managed DNS to manage your zone records at an additional cost of $0.99 yearly.

  5. Do you use any antivirus software? I don't, for various reasons:Slows down performance

Yes Of course, bacause it constantly monitor your system in background. But Antivirus saves you from lot of problems you face, and some malware can slowdown your system more than antivirus do.

    Generally expensive

Not exactly. Many free antiviruses are available including AVIRA Anitivirus Personal, AVG, Avast etc.... And I recommend the free antivirus than paid antiviruses. :)

    Generally not very effective

No. Even though there is some difference in performance, almost all antivirus software(paid and free) will provide some level of protection.

.. and most importantly: I don't see why I need it.

May be you are very selective in using softwares and visiting websites. This is one of the reasons why you're safe without antivirus. That is very nice. But antivirus is a must have for every Windows OS now a days. Because a small mistake you do can lead to big problems. Most of the websites have malware and your system will be silently infected if you visit them. And lots of viruses are spreading through pen drives(USB flash drives) and mobile phones our friends use. Connecting them to your system without antivirus is open invitation to viruses. Because once you connect them to your system those viruses will infect your system automatically without your knowledge.
And another issue is, You don't know your system is infected until you face some undesirable events happening in your system or you have an antivirus installed. Yes, its true. It was my experience. You really don't know your system is infected until you have an antivirus.

So running your system without antivirus makes your system vulnerable. So you need Antivirus.

Does anyone have any suggestions for free, effective, preferably efficient (i.e. doesn't use too many system resources) antivirus software?

I recommend AVIRA antiviurs. It is free and uses very low resources of your system. Its detection rate is also very good. And Daily updates avialable. AVG is also good free antivirus. But uses more RAM than AVIRA. Try these and chose the best one that suits your needs. :)

  6. Oh yes...Congrats for our success bhavesh :) Yuvi is showing the difference. His innings in first match is simply superb. And his bowling in second innins is excellent. I wonder why our main spinner still can't take any wickets where parttime spinners were doing wonders. No wonder for huge score as it is a batting pitch. But England's batting order is facing many problems. They need to settle down and understand our pitches. Flintoff's innings is excellent today. I like his way of playing. Those 3 sixes in Harbhajan's over are superb. Flintoff and Peterson tried to attack our bowlers. But Yuvraj striked again. Definitely this is a memorable day for life to Yuvraj. All The Best to India and England for remaining 5 matches. Lets continue our commentary too.... :)

  7. Thanks xpress, :)

    Ok more set of questions:

    1) How can i shift to logic plan from my current PlanC/PlanA for my 2 domains?

    2) How can i enable Mycents system?

    Register here...

    support.xisto.com

with the same email address you used to register at Xisto. Then after 4 to 5 hours you'll see myCents in your account. In futre once you reach 100 myCents they will be converted into xisto dollars. And also you'll see some xistodollars in your account for all your 329 posts upto now. You can see your xistodollars and myCents below your username(avatar if you have) here.

And I'm sorry, I don't know about Xisto - Web Hosting old plans. Admins have to answer it. :)

  8. Ok i was thinking of creating new post for this but i have questions that i think i can get answers in this thread:
    1) Xisto - Web Hosting changed the plans , so what about plana, planb and if they're no longer active then why not merge existing customers to Logic Plan?

Yes, PlanA , PlanB are not in use now(for new members). You can select anything you want from logic plan. Everybody will have to shift to logic plan. The existing plans will be discontinued in future. But no one knows the exact time.

    2) is Mycents program optional? i mean if we don't remain active on forum, this will affect mycent area and that could affect hosting site/domain, so is mycent optional or will be compulsory in future?

MyCents are optional if you want to pay using different method like PayPal etc... But if you want free hosting myCents are must. You will earn myCents for every post. If you have enough myCents in your account for future payments you can remain inactive for some time. You inactivity doesn't affect myCents.

  9. Very glad to see that you are interested in meditation. And your doubts are common for every beginner. But it is very difficult to answer those in a single post. My first advice for these questions is read topics about meditation, available in this spirituality section. Most of your doubts will be answered. I'm answering to only one question here.

Ok, this might be a weird question, but here goes: is there something involving chanting or repeating certain words, over and over again?

According to yoga, there are different types of meditation practices. One of them is Japa, which uses chanting of certain spritual words. It may be somewhat easy because if you conciously pronounce some words you can easily concentrate on them. But not all practices have this chanting. They have different methods.

Don't worry about concentration. If you start practicing meditation seriously you'll soon achieve good concentration.

Please first read some topics in this section topics on meditation. You'll get some understanding about meditaiton. And then ask any doubts you have. I'll answer them. :)

  10. Hello WhySoSerious!(?) Welcome to Xisto. I think you already roamed a lot at or forum. Hope you like it. You may already experienced the friendliness of Xisto. Nothing serious here. You can enjoy happily :) Start posting and be part of our community. :)

  11. echo-of-thunder.trap17.com comes up as the apache page comes up.

Then the problem must be with your subdomain name. Is it correct and working? Or had you requested for cancellation or changing of sub domain? Because wrong address always gives the apache page at Xisto. for example try http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ or any funny name. This will give you the apache page.

  12. No need to wait for that much time, I think.

What is the domain(address) displaying in the browsers address bar? Is that domain(may be your new domain if redirection successful) working normally? If you enter echo in browser and if it redirected to
http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/(you must see this in address bar) then redirection is successful. If not redirection failed.

Without redirection, Are both of your addresses(your subdomain and new domain) working normally without apache page? Please answer the above questions.

  13. Yes...As far as I know AVG.EXE is process of AVG antivirus. But I wonder how Kaspersky allowed to install on that system if AVG is there. Kaspersky doesn't allow itself to install on any system that has another anitvirus s/w is installed.
There may be some problem with your kaspersky installation or Do you have any other antivirus or firewall installed?
If you have then uninstall it, clean your registry with some registry cleaning software. Kaspersky conflicts with many antiviruses and firewalls. Anyway if you want a better and light weight antivirus then switch to AVIRA. That is free and uses very light processing power.

Hey, wait I found a link where someone faced the same problem you have. Here is the link. problem with kaspersky. But sadly no good solution there.

  14. Yes....just as deadmix and xls told go for Joomla. It is free and you can find lots of tutorials and support from the web for joomla. There are many free extensions and tons of free templates available for joomla. And for forums you can go for phpBB, one of the excellent open source forums available. You can integrate joomla and phpBB with simple bridges. Joomla and phpBB are PHP based, so they fit into your preferred languages.Anyway...start your project and post your problems here. Many people are here to help you. All The Best.

  15. Thanks guys for all those posts.

I sure have a lot of no-brainers for you. Pliz be patient with me when I ask silly questions.

I usually use Joomla on a local machine. I tried to transfer the site once and I did not like the outcome. After importing the database most links where refering to the old filepaths on the old machine. Does anyone know where there are step by step tutorials for transfering a joomla site? Please give me the links.

I have lot of patience. So don't worry. ^_^

Ok, lets come to problem. How did you transfered your joomla website from localhost to remote server? ( I mean the procedure you used ). You need to edit the configuration.php file after uploading and importing the database. That may be your problem, I think. Anyway if you want links, then here is a link Transfering Joomla site from one site to another. Try this. Or if you need more explanation ask me.
