More exactly, it is based on the Stack Exchange platform, which is also the basis for Stack Overflow.We did, though, what customizations we thought were necessary. However, the platform is really good, so mainly we concentrate in getting it in the right direction - as our hardware topic is vastly different than the programming world. The pink invasion was an April 1st joke ... We had a message warning new users of it, you must have missed it. Now we are back to our normal colors - you can check the site again, I think you'll find them rather pleasant. Well, the questions with 0 answers do have that 0 in red - it should be more noticeable now, without the pink invasion. Also, there is an "Unanswered" tab, where you can see all the unanswered questions. First of all, the beauty of the system is that you don't have to log in or register to ask or answer questions, you can post them as simply as you'd post comments on a blog. Next, the button is deliberately far off in the corner. We'd want users first to get used with the system, see what kind of questions they can ask, and only then ask questions of their own. Of course, this is a subjective topic. You could argue both ways. We talked about it and decided it was better for the site to have the button in a bit more subtle position. And again, thanks a lot for the feedback. Although I seem to dismiss most of it, we gather different opinions and then we do changes on the site - things that make sense for most of the guys that give us feedback.

And you'll feel this right after you see it. It's a very user-friendly system, based on questions and answers. The best answers get voted by other users, so you'll surely find the best answers always on top, when you are curious about a question. And the system has many other interesting aspects. The underlying platform is a brand new one, developed two years ago, and already used on the biggest programming website. I'm actually quite curious what do you think about this type of system. Do you like it better than the omnipresent phpBB forums? Also, I'm curious if you like the design. I and my friends spent quite some time tweeking it.

No, most likely you won't have to pay for anything. Also, Google is not the only one doing street-views. There is a website http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ that has streetviews for major cities in Romania, and this company also does it for other central/eastern european countries ( Poland |Czech Republic |Slovakia |Austria |Russia). All for free, of course. It's only a matter of time until we'll be able to see street views from every major road in the world. And that's definetely a good thing. The 'against' reasons are kind of... (how sould I say this)... a bit dumb.

No, I tried at least 20 times, with exactly the same password that works in CPanel and FileZilla. I even wrote it once in clear text and then pasted it and it didn't work. The problem is not with the password. Yes, absolutely unlikely, as FileZilla works I had already did the permission change to 777 for the wp_content dir. I even tried it now for the other folders related to Wordpress, still it didn't work. My best bet is there is something wrong with Wordpress, a small glitch that in connection with it being hosted here on trap makes it impossible to use the automatically install plugins (and upgrades). Has anybody here with a 2.7 Wordpress blog hosted on trap managed to use the automatic install? And yes, I already did this for a plugin. I just wish I could do it easier.And also I have a doubt with the upgrade to 2.7.1. If the automatic upgrade would work I would have no worry, but if I download the new files and replace the existing ones, I'm worried I might lose some of my WP settings, or my theme's settings (which are quite a lot).

I installed Wordpress 2.7 on my site, hosted by Xisto, http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Everything went ok and smooth, I installed a theme, some plugin (manually), but I saw that I can also install plugins automatically (from the Wordpress administration panel). The problem I have when I try to do this is my Connection Information. I use the same credentials as I use with FileZilla to upload things to my website, but it doesn't seem to work. So, maybe somebody here on trap has already did this and can point me to what I do wrong. The Connection Settings I use: Hostname: riotingbits.creativeriots.com (I also tried with http and with no protocol) Username: riotingb (the same as the one I log on to CPanel) Password: ****** (the same as the one I log on to CPanel) Connection Type: FTP (also tried FTPS) I also attached a print-screen with the error. Any idea? Anyone?

My vote went to Avast.I tried all the known freeware antiviruses (at least the free ones on this list) and Avast was simply the best.Better protection, better detection when I was de-virusing computers of friends of mine.And I really love that type of scanning you can do when it scans at boot time, so before Windows starts.Simple and good.

Hey, this topis is started in 2006 !!!And it is referring to a beta release of Service Pack 3.So, the alert is very absolete, it's perfectly fine now and even recommended to upgrade to SP3.I've used it smoothly for a long time.

Well, you're either very lucky, either you don't extensively install programs, browse the internet or use programs from torrents I use Avast. I find it small and good, and if you register on their website you can use it for free, get updates and so. I tried most of the freeware antiviruses, and I found Avast to be the best.

My favourite is mountain climbing. It's a great sport, it uses all your muscles, and it's nice that you have goals (reach the top ), and can try different tracks, more easy or more hard. And you can also do it during the winter, in special halls, like this one that I'm going to from my home-town (it's called Natural High )

I can add a con for Gmail: It doesn't let you send .exe files as attachements in your email. I couldn't believed it when I saw it. I got an error, something like "this is for security reasons, because executable files can be malicious". And finally I sent it with Yahoo, which doesn't have this stupid rule. (ok, maybe I wasn't exactly no topic, but it might be a bit relevant for your comparison)

Quite surprising.In November, when the service was launched, I saw a lot of people here on trap discussing and being excited about the Gmail themes.And also, I always had the impression that a lot of trapsters are using Gmail.But now it looks like the Themes aren't really used by the community (and it's a shame, because they are really nice and non-bloaty).So far we have:1. Actually, I think the themes were designed to have the minimum overload possible.I don't see any problems with the one I'm using now, it's still a fast load. I agree with you on products that trade speed for good looks, that sucks, but it's not the case here.

GMail launched the custom Themes a few months ago. It was a long-expected feature, as the Yahoo Mail interface looked nicer, and the GMail one just old and boring. It was just a few weeks ago that I got to change my theme, and I can say that, since then, I simply enjoy logging into my GMail. Hi, David!It's been awhile since your post here, but maybe you still track it somehow and you'll see my piece of advice. Since you posted in the .NET forums, I'm going to give you some ASP.net suggestions. The big idea is: yes, it is possible what you have in mind, and actually it's not so hard. 1. For the user login, the easiest way to do it is by using a Login Control, like described here in the MSDN documentation: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178329.aspx You don't need to write any code, you just add this control from the toolbar in Visual Studio to your website's masterpage, and it will automatically take care of your users' logon, authentication, etc. 2. About seeing the date/time and what links your clients clicked, you will need a bit of code (C# in my suggestions, but you can use VB.net also). You can make all the links on your website to be at design time LinkButton controls, not simple links. LinkButtons look exactly as normal links to the end-user, but the beauty is that you can attach events to them,and make some code execute on those events. In your example, you can use the OnClicked event. When the user clicks a link, you'll add code that sees who it is (you will find information on how to do it in the link I provided above), you can use the event arguments to see what link he clicked on, and finally you can get the date/time they clicked with DateTime.Now(). After you'll get these 3 pieces of information (all you wanted) you store them in a database, and then you can check there your users' activity. If you need more details, or help with some part of this process, post here and I'll gladly help you.

Hi! I'm working as a .NET developer, so I couldn't stay away from this discussion First of all, it's not necessarily paid, the .NET option. You can get the Express edition of Web Developer, which is free, and is as good as the paid one. Just that you can't sell what you create with it, but it's ok for learning or designing your site. Secondly. What makes .NET better. It's definetely the increase speed with which you can develop your web application. There are a lot of web-controls that make things easier for you. For example, user input validation is just adding a control, with no code added (and you can validate for correct Date format, or correct e-mail format, with no extra code at all). Or, if you want to implement something like the management of users (list / edit / insert / delete, with sorting by columns and paging), it's very easy to do with data-bound controls, such as GridView, ListView or Repeater. ASP.net is really great when the site you are making is a bit more complicated and it's not a forum or blog platform (where already made PHP solutions exist, and you just have to customize them). And it is quite easy to use in the beginning. However, to truly see the benefits of the language, you need some time with learning it. It's quite vast. Actually, I think it's quite beneficial for .NET that it is a Microsoft product. Skipping the prejudice, Microsoft invested a lot in the language, and you can feel that. The IDE is really great, there are a lot of support forums, and the languages (C#, ASP.net) are very well designed to make your code writing efficient and most of all pleasant.
