Using your own hosting for email not only allows you to customize the features and spam blocking to your liking, but it also looks more cohesive to have an email address with yoursite.com instead of hotmail.com. This would definitely be the optimal way to go, but if you need to choose between yahoo or hotmail, I'd say yahoo.

Most online downloads of books would probably be illegal; if that's the way you want to go, then any file sharing program will help you there.I recommend paperbackswap.com...it's more than just paperbacks. You post the books you have, and when someone requests one, you mail it to them. Then you get a credit once it's received, and you can use the credit to request any book you want from another member, for free. You could go to this site and search and see if anyone has the books you want, and then join if they do.

Microsoft Vs. Macintosh Which operation system is the best
moutonoir replied to williamm's topic in Operating Systems
This nails the situation. Macs score high on the "cool factor" and have very nice interfaces. Even at my school, the digital art majors use Macs to do their work, rather than PC's. Apparantly Microsoft thought it could compete with this when it rolled out Vista...while the latter is shiny and pretty, that's about all it has (and even then, I'd prefer a Mac). If you take the time to learn how a command line works and are willing to tweak things, Linux is the way to go. It's not as vulnerable to security issues as Windows since the latter is more widespread, and you can customize it to suit your needs. And it's free! -
Once you get used to making good choices and eating good foods, it becomes easier both as a habit and in terms of your cravings. I've found that by elminating junk food from my diet, I don't even want it anymore. It's really strange considering I used to be practically addicted to the stuff. "Real" food has so many more benefits than the nutritionless, processed junk that makes up so much of a typical person's diet.

While the symptoms are due to hormones, I've found that eating a healthy, low-fat/low-sugar diet and getting regular exercise really helps lessen the effects of PMS. I don't know how these things interact with the hormones exactly, but I have observed a noticable difference in how I feel. If I eat a lot of sugar and fat from processed foods, I'll get awful cramps and be ridiculously moody, but if I eat well, I only get a little moodly and usually no cramps. It's different for everyone, but try changing your diet and see how different things affect you.

You can get free hosting without needing to post if you put ads on your site.I agree with krazygoddess though...if you don't want to post, there are other alternatives. You can pay, but like she says, you get a lot here and it's free, if you just post to forums a few times.

Free Email Service I am looking to start a free Email service
moutonoir replied to thepiratedock's topic in Software
There are some places where you can get free domain registration in exchange for filling out surveys and such. As for all the things you want, you'd probably have to turn to multiple sources to get it all free, if you could find these sources. -
While you "hang around" for a bit, perhaps it would be beneficial to take a course in business, both to see if you really are interested in the material and also to show any potential MBA schools that you are interested. Doing well in the course would look very good on your resume. Also, if you have the opportunity to take any leadership positions or such, you could talk about this experience in your application.

If you did a simple Google search for online degrees, I'm sure you'd find a pretty comprehensive list of schools that might offer what you want. Also, you could consider taking online classes from your local community college to start out. That may be less expensive, and you could see if the online course thing works for you. It's a very different way of learning if you're used to traiditional classes.

The two search engines use different algorithms to search the net, so by merging you would probably lose one of them (most likely yahoo's) unless those could be merged too somehow...but perhaps not. Having multiple different outlets for search is a nice thing to have, that way when you can't find something using one engine there's always another. As for Microsoft trying to "beat" Google; I think it's probably going to take a complete revamp of their business goals/ideals in order for that to ever happen. As was previously mentioned, Microsoft is mainly out to make lots of money, whereas Google is trying to come up with better ways of doing practically everything that you can do online. As long as Microsoft's focus is on profits rather than products, they're going to have a tough time coming up with a true competitor for Google. Even the Linux operating system rivals Windows, and the former is free. As people become more technologically advanced, I think we're going to see big corporations like Microsoft go under while those who strive to harness new technologies take over.

I don't know how valid any of this negative calorie stuff is. Of course it takes calories to digest food, but in terms of using this to your advantage to aid weight loss, I don't think it makes much difference. They say that several small meals throughout the day keeps up your metabolism which helps you burn more calories and stay slim, but really I think the reason this technique works for many is that it prevents you from getting so hungry that you binge on unhealthy food.Just use common sense...the foods on this list are fruits and vegetables which are good, healthy foods. If your diet is high in these items, you are less likely to get hungry enough to eat lots of junk. And once you get used to the healthy, "clean" feeling you get when eating right, you won't want to feel sick and gummed up from eating processed junk.

'calorie Burning' Enviga Tea Drink A Fraud, Group Says
moutonoir replied to james2002's topic in Health & Fitness
Negative calories, even if they did exist, would vary from person to person depending on your metabolism. A person with a much higher metabolism would probably burn my calories digesting something than one with a much lower metabolism. As with most nutrition info though, this fact remains to be tested.Anything that comes out of a factory claiming to aid weight loss is dubious. THe best way to maintain a healthy weight is good old-fashioned diet and exercise. -
I'd be very interested to read an interview with the author. I love how clever the Series of Unfortunate Events books are...even though they're made for children, they appeal to older people since you get more of the humor and references to famous literature and such. Those books must have been so much fun to write. As a fiction writer myself, reading them has inspired me to try more new and unusual forms of storytelling, and also to play up the kind of humor that I find amusing.

I'd say that IE's biggest strongpoint is that it is soooo widely used, much like most of Microsoft's products. Because of this, most websites are designed with IE in mind and may not render properly in other browsers. It's also common for web applications to display warnings saying that they only run properly in IE. This is irritating for users of other browsers. One of my favorite features of FIrefox is that it has an IE tab add-on, so you can continue using the same browser but view these pages in IE. It's also great for web design since you can see how your pages look in both browsers. Each browser has its own strengths and weaknesses; it's impossible to say which is the best or which is better than another without taking context into mind. It all depends on what you look for in a browser; each individual will have their own preference.

Have you considered selling a good or service closely related to one of your site topics? It could be something small; if you just want a little bit of money then it doesn't need to be significant. But this seems like it would be more appropriate than donations, unless you're sending the money to a cause or the like. I wouldn't ask for donations for a cause with the intent of making a profit; if your readers found out, they would probably be offended.

But the more of these sites that are created, the less likely other people will be to pay for a new one.

The problem with BMI is that it doesn't take into accuont your body's fat/muscle composition. you could weigh a lot because you're mostly muscle, which is perfectly healthy, but this high weight will give you a high BMI which might say you're obese, even though you're not. As with all things, it's important to keep common sense in mind.

I found this site on a list of free web hosts, and also through a google search. Since it kept popping up, I figured it had to be good Basically I was looking for a host that supported PHP and would offer database support, preferably with no ads. Xisto had it all, for free, AND offered the option of earning a free domain.I've really been impressed with the hosting services; you have so much control over your site, which is very rare among free hosts. Usually the hosts restrain what you can do so much that you have no choice but to pay to upgrade. What I wonder is, who started the idea of posting in forums to earn credit for hosting? What was their motive? I think it's a great idea and am glad I finally stumbled upon this site.

I've been making websites for years, and I've played briefly with FrontPage (hated it), Dreamweaver, and the like, but tools like that never caught on with me. I prefer to do the graphic design part in Adobe Photoshop, and all the coding I do by hand. I used to use Notepad for that but Unix quickly switched me over to vim. I've also used EditPlus at work to do application coding, and I like that program a lot too, though I definitely prefer vim.Recently I took a look at Adobe Fireworks, and it looked promising. When I upgrade to CS3, I think I may use that.

Indeed, one of the key features of a dream is that it's egocentric, focusing on you. Which makes sense because you don't exactly have access to anyone else's thoughts in the way you do your own. This starts to bleed into the whole philosophy of mind debate; that is, how does your mind give you that sense of being "you?" How do we explain consciousness? There are many different views on this, and perhaps dreams provide some insight on this matter.

I read an article in Scientific American about how blogging is good for mental health, mostly for the same reasons journalling is. It was quite interesting, and I think that's one of the main reasons many people blog.A lot of blogs, however, don't focus so much on the blogger as a certain topic, and they serve more to inform the public about this topic by providing links to resources and news in the field. These are the types of blogs I prefer to read, as they offer much more information. However, sometimes it's beneficial to add a personal spin on such blogs, giving them something that a textbook wouldn't have and making it easier to relate to/understand the material presented. My blog's theme is creativity; I blog to show people the things I'm making with the hope of inspiring them to try new craft mediums or start new projects. I also like to show people articles and books that discuss creativity and ways to maximize it. This theme also keeps me in creative mode and helps me produce my crafts.Blogging has become such a huge area that there are so many reasons why people do it, and so many topics blogs can be about. Sometimes they are nothing more than a livejournal, other times they are impersonal and scientific. Whatever the purpose, the blogger derives some benefit out of it and hopefully the public does as well.

Relationships with in-laws are very important. People say that when you get married, you don?t just marry the person but their family as well. In 55% of divorces, people said that the in-laws were at least partially responsible. Establishing warm connections early on in the marriage can lead to a positive relationship with in-laws. One of the most common problems people have with in-laws has to do with differences in lifestyles.Often, during the first few years of marriage, the couple?s parents will be around a lot giving endless advice. Later, they will want to see grandchildren and may require attention as they age. It is important to develop a good relationship with one?s in-laws. The parents of a couple are advised not to give unsolicited advice, to respect privacy, to be interested in their new in-law and not treat them as though they have stolen the child?s love, and to give the couple room to live their own lives. Newlyweds should write to, phone, and visit with their new parents to improve their relationship. A person?s relationship with their partner?s parents often changes after marriage.

When you are about to give a presentation, Practice is the single most important factor contributing to a good presentation. A poorly presented talk reflects upon both you and your attitude towards the material and audience, so always make time for practice runs. Be sure to practice your speech more than just a few times so that you are sure about what you?re going to say. Before you practice, read through your speech to eliminate any rough spots beforehand. Try to seek some feedback to make sure you?re on the right track and not practicing all the wrong partsAs you practice, remember to keep eye contact with imaginary viewers and not to look down at your notes when you don?t need to. Try to keep the practice session as much like the real speech as possible.Sometimes it helps to practice in front of a mirror so that you can view yourself as you speak. Stand where you can see the reflection of your head and your feet easily. Try to find a relaxed position to stand in. As you speak, you can look in the mirror and watch for any odd or distracting movements you make. You can also try using a tape recorder to record your voice as you speak. This allows you to listen to your tone and speed and notice when there?s any distracting verbal clutter.Make sure you practice all parts of your speech equally. If you just practice from the beginning until you reach a problem, the beginning of the speech will sound good, but the end will not. When you run through the speech, try to run through the whole speech so that you practice all of it.
