  1. So much for that Jets Giants Super Bowl. As a Jet fan i'm hurting really bad. Hopefully the new coach will finally bring the Jets to the promise land. So heres my predictions for the playoffs (Go Chad).Miami beats Baltimore, Chad Pennington throws for three-hundred yards and Woody Johnson cries.Atlanta crushes Arizona. Arizona is pretty bad and the Falcons have done some magical things this season with rookie Quarterback Matt Ryan.Indy beats San Diego. Indy is a great team and Peyton Manning is still the best quarterback in the league.Philadelphia beats Minnesota. I don't sew Minnesota could win unless Westbrook gets hurt or McNabb plays like the bad McNabb.Philadelphia beats the Giants. Eli Manning just isnt good enough to get it done against a great pass defense like the Eagles. Shutdown the run and shutdown the Giants.Carolina beats the Falcons. Carolina is just the better team. The Dolphins beat the Steelers, Pennington will not turn the ball over. The Colts upset the Titans, Manning sticks it to them again.Carolina beats Philadelphia in a close one.The Dolphins stun the world when they beat the Colts and go to the super bowl after last years 1-15 season. Once again Chad Pennington does not turn the ball over.Carolina beats the Dolphins in the Super Bowl.
  2. Well in the AL you gotta love the New york Yankees. Especially after the moves the just made. A rotation of Sabatha, Wang, Burnett, Chamberlain, Hughes/ Pettitte is arguably the best in the game. The addition of Mark Teixiera is huge because Tex is an absolute stud at firstbase. Tex will easily put up 30 HR and 100 RBI and adds another switch hitting bat to the line up. He will also definatley take pressure off of Rodriguez. Personally i think they should move Rodriguez up to the three hole and let Tex bat behind him. Keep in mind that Rodriguez has an MVP year every other year so that means he would be due this year. Hopefully Robbie Cano will hit like the hitter we all know he can be and give the lineup some more pop. No doubt you gotta love the Yankees in the AL.The NL is a lot more wide open. The Mets made some good moves put that puzzle isnt complete yet. I wasn't a big fan of K-Rod but the Mets had to make that move. I loved the J.J. Putz move. The Mets definitely should look at Juan Cruz to solidify the bullpen and id like to see them get another starter or two before we comsider them legit. Lowe is obvious but Ollie Perez is a little more up in the air. I'd definitely like Jason Marquis in the fifth slot. Andrew Jones wouldnt be a terrible pick up if the Dodgers take on most of his remaining 22 million. The Cubs definitely need to be looked at seriously especially if they finally land Peavy. Id like to see them get another outfielder and Bobby Abreu would be perfect for them. The addition of Abreu alone would make them a much better team. The Phillies will probably be the favorite with a solid rotation however Pat Burrel will be a big loss. Imagine adding Manny to the Utly Howard tandem? That would be an amazing line up. The dodgers cant be considered unless they retain Manny.AL: 1)Yankees 2)RaysNL: 1)Cubs 2)Phillies
  3. The Mets have a big problem. There is no excuse for a bullpen to be that bad. You need a solid bullpen to win it all. Not many pitchers go deep in playoff games, you need a solid back end of the bullpen. I'd be interested to see who they move out of the rotation and into the pen if they make it. I don't think the Mets will sign K-Rod this winter. First of all, no reliever deserves to get paid more than Mariano Rivera, which is what he wants. Plus he has very bad mechanics with a violent delivery. This wont work forever, he will be prone to injuries, especially since hes been pitching so much this year.
  4. My favorite is definitely America's greatest past time, baseball. American Football's right up there with it. My least favorites are Hockey and Soccer. I've never really got into hockey but its okay to watch. Regular soccer i cant watch but when it gets to world cup time it gets a lot better.
  5. Well, basketball was that exciting to watch this year with the USA steamrolling every game. I have to admit i got into the whole Phelps story, those relays were great to watch.
  6. AFC North 1) Cleveland Browns 2) Pittsburgh Steelers 3) Cincinnati Bengals 4) Baltimore Ravens AFC South 1) Indianapolis Colts 2) Houston Texans 3) Jacksonville Jaguars 4) Tennessee Titans AFC East 1) New England Patriots 2) New York Jets 3) Buffalo Bills 4) Miami Dolphins AFC West 1) San Diego Chargers 2) Denver Broncos 3) Kansas City Chiefs 4) Oakland Raiders NFC North 1) Minnesota Vikings 2) Green Bay Packers 3) Detroit Lions 4) Chicago Bears NFC South 1) New Orleans Saints 2) Carolina Panthers 3) Tampa Bay Buccaneers 4) Atlanta Falcons NFC East 1) Dallas Cowboys 2) Philadelphia Eagles 3) New York Giants 4) Washington Redskins NFC South 1) St. Louis Rams 2) Arizona Cardinals 3) Seattle Seahawks 4) San Francisco 49ers Playoffs AFC 1) Patriots 2) Chargers 3) Colts 4) Browns 5) Jets 6) Texans AFC Championship 1) Jets 2) Colts NFC 1) Cowboys 2) Vikings 3) Saints 4) Rams 5) Eagles 6) Giants NFC Championship 1) Eagles 2) Cowboys Superbowl 1) Eagles 2) Jets
  7. bottom line, if team USA actually plays, there is no way they can loose. all you have to do is get them to play defense and its over. Last time Larry Brown pissed off the whole team, and they didn't try.
  8. i think in the playoffs managers should be able to challenge whether a player was safe or out because as we saw last year in the 1 game playoff between colorado and san diego, matt holliday never touched home plate but the rockies won and went all the way to the world series.
  9. Lets Take a look at some possible starting pitcher options for the Yankees. Obviously the two big names this summer are off the market, but lets look at who?s left. Greg Maddux: He isn?t the best pitcher available but he is doing okay this year with a 3.90 ERA. I really think the Yankees should get him if he?ll wave his no-trade clause. He probably wont cost as much as other pitchers. He will also be great with helping out the Young kids. Darrell Rasner and Ian Kennedy are very similar pitchers to Maddux, and Maddux being one of the smartest pitchers in the game, could help them out a lot. Maddux also has experience pitching in big games down the stretch and in the post season. Randy Wolf: He is having a mediocre season with a 4.66 ERA, but is only 4 years removed from 4 straight double digit win seasons. Wolf was a huge prospect before he was hit with injuries. He would be a decent lefty addition to the rotation. The Padre?s already said that they want prospects for their two players, if Wolf wont cost any of the big arms, the Yankees should make the deal. A.J. Burnett: From what i gather, the Yankees wont go anywhere near this guy. He has great stuff, but have a huge contract, and is injury prone. Ian Snell: Not having a great year, but is playing for a terrible team, and is only 26. Aaron Laffey: Having a pretty good season, 5-5 with a 3.45 ERA. He has had some pretty impressive outings, and would be a great lefty addition if Cleveland decides to sell. Bronson Arroyo: From 2004-2006 (3 seasons) he compiled 38 wins, and showed the ability to pitch in big games. This year he is doing pretty bad with a 5.97 ERA but he seems to pitch well in the spotlight. I wouldn?t touch him, but if he is the only option, he could be a cheap fix. Jeff Francis: Nicknamed ?The Dragon Slayer? for his ability to beat great teams, it is not clear whether or not he is available. I think he?d be a great pickup even though he has a 5.67 ERA. Felix Hernandez: I know this sounds crazy, but the Mariners said that ?no ones job is safe?, and when asked about Hernandez, they said ?no one?. Hernandez will be the one guy the Yankees will go crazy for (unless Cash is secretly planing to go to the M?s next season). The Yankees can give up the big prospects because Hernandez is a big prospect himself. As long as they don?t give up Joba or Hughes. This would be one of the greatest acquisitions the Yankees ever made. Fransico Liriano: Although unlikely to be dealt, he has had a falling out with the Twins organization. If the Yankees can get him for a package cheaper than what the Mets paid for Santana, he would be a great option. Daniel Cabrera: He has some control problems, but could be a cheap fix. Homer Bailey: One of the best pitching prospects in the game, with a very low stock right now. The Yankees should scoop him up even him he wont pitch in the bigs this year.
  10. Well, Brett Favre is officially coming back. He asked for his unconditional release last week. The Packers said he is welcome to come back, as a backup to Aaron Rodgers. Favre responded by saying he didn't feel welcome in Green Bay, which is why he asked for his release. There is speculation that Favre wants to go to the VIkings or Bears, and the Packers cant let him go to a division rival. Imagine opening day in Green Bay against the Vikings, and Brett Farve is in a Viking's Uniform. I'm hoping he'll go to the Jets.
  11. Yahoo is a very good site for all fantasy sports. Fantasy basketball can be played as rotisserie or head to head but rotisserie is better. As far as strategy You always want to draft players who score a lot of points, how ever it is important to draft players who can contribute in smaller categories like blocks, steals, assists, and rebounds. This will help you win those categories. If anyone here wants to start a league for Xisto, im interested.
  12. Duhon to the Knicks: Chris Duhon has agreed to a two-year deal with the Knicks , paving the way for the franchise to cut ties with Stephon Marbury. Whether Marbury will be traded, bought out of his contract or simply waived is yet to be determined. People close to Donnie Walsh and D?Antoni consider Marbury?s departure a near certainty. Pistons going for Maggette: The Detroit Pistons would consider using all of the mid-level exception on small forward Corey Maggette. The Pistons have had at least one conversation with Maggette's representatives since Maggette said that he would consider signing for the mid-level exception, which is worth $5.8 million. Monta Ellis: Monta ellis would like to play in new york Michael Beasley has cracked sternum: The team not only confirmed today that Michael Beasley, the No. 2 overall pick in last week's NBA Draft, has a "slight crack" of his sternum, but also revealed that 2007 Heat first-round pick Daequan Cook will be sidelined for two to four weeks with a slight separation of his left shoulder. While Cook will now miss next week's summer league in Orlando, the Heat is hopeful that Beasley nonetheless can compete in the week of games at the Orlando Magic's practice facility. Arenas stays in Washington: Yesterday, according to Arenas, the three-time all-star agreed to a six-year, $111 million contract with the Wizards, two days after the team offered him a six-year deal worth between $125 million and $127 million, the maximum allowable for a player with seven years of NBA service under the league's collective bargaining agreement.
  13. According to team sources and players Brett Farve is being pushed by his family and himself to play football this year. Farve is "itching" to come back. Favre has displayed interest in coaching along side Mike Mcarthy. Farve once again called these reports rumors. Al Harris said on Wednesday: "I've talked to Brett and I know he has the itch to come back and play. If he will or not, I don't know. But I know he's feeling he wants to play." Favre expressed his desire to return, Harris said the quarterback said, "I got the itch." multiple media outlets in Wisconsin reported on Wednesday that Favre or his agent James "Bus" Cook contacted the Packers about returning a few weeks ago and the conversation ended with the quarterback asking for his release. The team reportedly refused his request.Aaron Rodgers has some bad luck. After being drafted in the first round three years ago to one day replace Farve. Rodgers in an interview with Sports Illustrated, he said, "I don't feel I need to sell myself to the fans. They need to get on board now or keep their mouths shut." The packers also drafted two pretty good quarterbacks in this past draft, making it look like Rodgers' job isnt secure. Now a good question is, is Brett Farve a hall of famer? He does have more interceptions than touchdowns. It also seems that he was a little selfish when going for the touchdown record and may have cost his team some wins.
  14. Career minor leaguer Dan Giese was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 34th round of the 1999 amateur draft. After toiling in the minors for ten years, posting 44 and 24 record with a 2.89 ERA, Dan Giese was called up to the show in his second Major League stint by the New York Yankees. Giese had had an unsuccessful stint with the Giants last year. During his minor league career, Giese was frustrated at not getting the chance to pitch in the show, despite his great numbers. in 2005, Giese was having a bad year, and withe a pregnant wife, he decided to go home. He made the move from the mound to the showroom and gt a job as a salesman at a Honda dealership while he completed studying for a business degree at the University of San Diego."I think I sold maybe five or six cars in two months, so I was probably going to get fired anyway," he said. "I was telling people, 'This isn't a good deal at all.' Usually Honda buyers are young, like my age, so you know how much money they make. I couldn't rip them off. I'm just not a salesman, I guess." Now, after being called up to be Joba's caddy, and injury to Chien-mien Wang has given Giese a chance to prove everyone wrong. in the first major league start of his career, Giese went 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 4 hits and no earned runs. As long as Giese keeps pitching well, he will get the ball, and even if he is forced out of the rotation, he is sure to have a spot in the pen.
  15. a lot of teams need pitching, especially the Yankees with all the injuries. Ian Kennedy will be back soon but who knows what he can give you. These are the pitchers that are availble: Starters 1. C.C. Sabathia: I wouldn't want the Yankees to give up any big prospects for Sabathia, mainly because of his age and there is no guarantee that he will pith good in New York 2. Rich Harden: Shouldn't give up any big prospects because even though he could be one of the bests when he's helthy, he's almost never healthy. Billy Beane is willing to trade him but we all know he's gonna want a boat load of prospects in return. 3. Erik Bedard: He isn't pitching that great, so if he would come cheap, the yankees should go for him. the mariners have said that anyone is available, so if that includes Felix Hernandez, i say the yanks should go nuts for him as long as they don't give up Joba or Hughes. 4. A.J. Burnett: He's got a great arm but is hit or miss. Don't give up a lot of prospects for him, but if you can get him cheap, take him. 5. Freddy Garcia: free agent. Working hard to come back and just began letting it loose. He's a big-game pitcher, and if his shoulder is fit, he'll help somebody by August or September. 6. Randy Wolf: I've always liked him, hes got good stuff but seems a little injury prone, he shouldn't cost much to get. 7. Greg Maddux: Not only can he still pitch but he would be great to have around the young guys, i think he should be on the top of yankees list. 8. Kevin Millwood: He's getting toward the end of his big deal, and Texas has a host of young pitchers coming. Vicente Padilla is another possibility to go. 9. Joe Blanton: Beane might have waited too long on this one. He's viewed as no better than an "innings eater'' at this point. Beane wanted to much in the beginning, so if he lowers his price, the yankees will go after him. 10. Jarrod Washburn: Serviceable pitcher, dont give up anything great. 11. Bronson Arroyo: Ten runs in one inning against Toronto in last start, had some arm problems, don't want the yankees to get him unless its for basically nothing. Relievers 1. Huston Street: Obviously would be great if he's willing to set up for Rivera, as long as you dont have to give up an A+ prospect. 2. Kevin Gregg: A serviceable reliever 3. George Sherrill: Would make a good set up man 4. Damaso Marte: This guy the yankees need, one of the best lefty relivers in the game, they've been trying to get him back every year since they traded him to the pirates in 2001 for Enrique Wilson. 5. Brian Fuentes: Was great last year, don't give up an A prospect 6. Joe Borowski: Not that great, unless he costs nothing, don't get him 7. Chad Bradford: Great against lefties, old, if they don't get Marte, he could be an option if he comes cheap. 8. Jamie Walker: Old and overpaid but could still be marketable considering a small reliever market. So who do you want your team to pick up before the deadline, post your proposed trades here.
  16. The Knicks are looking to make a trade that would send David Lee and Maleke Rose to Memphis for the number 5 pick and Brian Cardinal. the Grizzlies want to get rid of cardinal's 2 year 13 million dollar contract to get Maleke Rose's expiring contract. although the Knicks would loose an expiring contract and gain a big one, the trade would not hurt their chances of getting Lebron James because Cardinal's contract would expire by then. This gives the Knicks a chance to land two of OJ Mayo, Eric Gordon, Russel Westbrook, or Jerrod Bayless.
  17. There was a story in newsday that said that the mike and the mad dog show could come to the end because of the dis functional relationship between Chris Russo and Mike Francesa. In fact, the next scheduled broadcast is not until July 11. Reached on vacation Saturday night, Francesa flatly said, "No comment." Russo, meanwhile, denied knowledge of a potential breakup, and said that his contract, including a no-compete clause, runs through October of 2009. "That is news to me," he said. "I have not heard that... That is fascinating information." Later, he added, "The only thing I can say is I am signed under contract for another year and a half. I don't think WFAN is going to let me out of that... I wish I had leverage like that." Operations manager Mark Chernoff said Saturday night, "They are under contract, and we expect to have a nice, long run with 'Mike and the Mad Dog.'" Several WFAN staffers have observed them feuding off the air in recent months. Mike and the Mad Dog did have a bad start in the beginning because Mike wouldn't let Chris talk. I don't now how WFAN would recover from the show going under. Personally id like to see them put Steve Somers and Marc Malusis on together in the afternoon.
  18. The Celtics won the NBA championship. This kind of got lost in the Willie Randolph fireing (at least in new york). Personally i was pulling for the Lakers, but overall it was a boring series. The NHL wants to take the Rangers away from Ted Dolan. The league has filed a counterclaim against the Garden in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, seeking the go-ahead to proceed with internal disciplinary measures that could take the Rangers away from Dolan. The NHL says that the Garden has violated several league rules to which it consented as a prerequisite for franchise ownership, including one that prohibits member clubs from taking the league to court, as MSG has done three times since last September.I say, please take the Knicks instead.
  19. Well, im pulling for Italy, they still are a great team. Donadoni is a great coach, Buffone is a great goalie.
  20. Chien-Ming Wang is the MLB's winningest pitcher over the last two-plus seasons. Wang was examined Monday in New York and was diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain of the Lisfranc ligament of the right foot and a partial tear of the peroneal longus tendon of the right foot. He's will be on crutches and have to wear a protective boot for at least six weeks. According to this timetable Wang wouldn't be walking freely until August, and would require weeks of rehab to return his arm to pitching condition if he returns at all for the 2008 season. This is a big blow for the yanks, but they could patch it up. Kennedy will be back within a month. Currently, Dan Guise looks like he will take Wang's next start. Other options in the minors are Chase Wright and No-Kei Igawa. Danny Mcuticion hasn't had enough time in AAA, Jeff Karstens and Alan Horne are just coming off injuries. Trading for a pitcher such as C.C. Sabathia, Randy Wolfe, or Derek Lowe are options in the trade market. Hey, how about Roger Clemens?
  21. What do you guys think, replay or no replay?
  22. I agree, as a yankee fan i also think joba is getting too much attention. I dislike how he gets cheered for the loudest and after every pitch. I feel that Jeter, Posada, and Rivera should be getting those cheers, not the new guys.
  23. You cant take away the rings because the teams didn't do anything. That game is a little suspicious because the lakers did take 27 foul shots in the fourth quarter. We all thought it was a little strange but never in our minds did we think it was fixed. This is opening up a whole new look at the NBA.
