  1. unfortunately, this could very well be possible with the NBA, for example: stern fixes the lottery so the Knicks can get Ewing, Tim Donaghe, and the recent allegations of referees making bad calls to get the Lakers to the championship.
  2. After Andy Pettitte gave up 10 earned runs, the Yankees were down 11-10 in the bottom of the ninth Jorge Posada hit a home run to make it 11-11. then with two on and two out, johnny Damon got his 6th hit of the game and drove in the winning run. This game and the game two nights ago could be turning points of the season. the batting averages are climbing and the Yankees are showing the ability two comeback, and not just lay down and die.
  3. Brian Bruney has been cleared to throw from 60 feet, and could make his way back this season, as early as the All-Star break. Bruney was lights-out during the first few weeks of the season. with Joba in the rotation, Bruney's comeback could significantly improve the pen.
  4. All right, so its Lakers and Celtics in the finals. That seems a little odd, and ill tell you why.Last year tv ratings for the NBA were terrible, along with the Tim Donaghe situation, made basketball nervous. so they needed to get the fans back into it, so why not revive one of the greatest NBA rivalries of all time? You had Garnett asking to be traded last summer, and poof! Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are in Boston. Then you had kobe complaninig in LA. Then in the middle of a cold winter night, Paul Gasol packs up and gets traded to the Lakers. And why not cause a distraction so people don't notice what the league is doing? For that they brought the Isehai and Dolan Circus to the Big Apple. This really looks like a stunt by the NBA to get a fan base back. What do you think?
  5. Jason Giambi was out of the lineup today because of a sore left foot. The Yankees went down 7-2 quickly, but then rallied for the best comeback of the season. With two outs in the bottem of the ninth, A-Rod got a "seeing eye" single between the 5 and 6 hole. he stole second on defensive indifference. Then Hideki Matsui blooped it right in fron of the center fielder. That meant Jose Molina was up because Jorge Posada had been pinch-ran for in the eight inning. Girardi pinched hit for Molina. In an improbable 0-2 count, Giambi smashed the ball to deep right field into the upper deck, just left of the foul pole and the Yankees won the game.Giambi is leading the team with twelve home runs, and is hitting .340 since May 1st, not to mention he hasnt played to bad at first.
  6. as a yankees/ mets fan why do you dislike the yankees/ mets.as a yankee fan i dislike the mets because of the way the mets act. they dance around like a bunch of five year-olds showing up the other team.
  7. Mike mussina currently has 8 wins. last ear he recorded only 11 and diddly get his eight until august. Mike Mussina successfully made an adjustment to the loss of velocity. He is pitching a lot like Jamie moyer. Mussina could find his way on to the all star team in July if he keeps pitching like this.
  8. In his first major league start last night, it looked like Joba Chamberlain had some control issues. However this pitch f/x scatterplot shows that 7 pitches in the zone were called balls. heres the graph: brooksbaseball.net/pfxVB/pfx.php
  9. the revenue sharing and luxury taxes implemented did not work. however teams are starting to build from within. hopefully this will lead to a drop in salaries and a drop prices in ticket prices.
  10. I share your feelings. I think football has hurt the game because kids these days are more interested in fast paced games such as football and basketball. As far as the money goes, the contracts are huge, but look at it this way, baseball is a form of entertainment, movie stars and actors get paid that kind of money also. I believe that Ray Romano was getting 1 million dollars per episode of Everybody Loves Raymond. That doesn't mean i agree with the contracts, i believe the contracts should be scaled back because the cost gets passed on to the consumer. As a life long Yankee fan, i find it hard to get out to the game. Tickets are impossible to find and if you buy them from stubhub you usually pay a huge markup. So lets say $30 per ticket times 5 for me and my 4 kids. The price to get to the stadium by train from Long Island is about $30. then $10 each for food. that equals $230 not counting souvenirs. As for the injuries, these days teams baby there talent so much that the slightest injury will shut a player down.this also has something to do with the large contracts because the teams don't want to risk permanently hurting one of there investments.
