rvalkass is right .. Linux handles errors better than any Windows machine.Btw.. Did you format your drive properly ? and Are there partitions on your new drive ?Bcoz from What I can think of , it could also be a partition table (MBR) problem Just boot from XP CD , select R to repair and run FIXMBR.You can try this, since it will just recreate the MBR for the drive.

Hi, I've recently switched to Vista Ultimate, but I think I'll switch back if i don't find proper softwares for it I was wondering if there is a better browser than IE in Vista ?? Coz its taking too much time to load websites. Atleast I feel so. And I've tried Opera also but it was not too much of an improvement .. Any suggestions to improve the speed ? P.S. To all those who think Vista sucks.. .. it does , But I can't find a better looking system

Well if its a conflict , I can't help much. Try to assign IRQs manually if u know how to do that But before that you may try to restore the system. It might fix it. btw .. i personally believe that IE is a piece of crap. try to use firefox, it performs much better

Hi Harshcpu, U won't be needing to control the machine. There are softwares for the specific purpose such as urs. Its sort of Netmeeting where U can watch presentation by just joining in. Sorry But i don't remember the name. I'll get back as soon as I remember it

@Legend Link Glad that i was of some help. if its the windows default firewall Just turn it off , its useless and since u are on a LAN no point using it Control panel > network connections > LAN (right click, Properties) > Advanced tab > Settings (General tab) and set off, apply otherwise yes its the inbound and outbound IP address that needs to be added to the trusted link. But then most of the firewalls (like Zonealarm) automatically does that by asking you. which game are u going to play CS ? @kudmus Hi there may be this would help you with something http://www.littlewhitedog.com/content-8.html this is a guide written by someone for the exact same thing u were asking .. how to make a cross over it even has pics to guide you with which pins to switch and just remember that its not necessary to have a blue cat5
-
You are pretty much there Crossover cable since the interfaces are of same type (2 comps) Now if you could tell me what os you are using , it would have been easy NEways... assuming u are using Windows XP (see i can pretty much guess everything) don't plug the cat5 till u've set up both the machines. I prefer class C address so I am using it (U can use any if u want as long as u know wat u are doing) Go to Start > control Panel > network connections Right Click on LAN and select properties. Under General Tab, Select Internet Protocols(TCP/IP) and then click on properties button(below it). I've attached a screen shot. DONT fill up the DNS part Now u only need three things to get it working. IP Address :192.168.1.7 and 192.168.1.8 (Two for two machines , and i thought i am bad at maths ) Subnet : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 DONT GET CONFUSED BY LOOKING AT MY SETTINGS. I AM NOT CONFIGURED FOR THIS KIND OF LAN. Clipboard01.bmp when you have done this on both the machines. Disable any firewalls. plug-in the two cat5 jacks Try to ping from each system to the other one. This should work

thanks for the reply truefusion. I had to install suse first and then I installed Ubuntu 7.04. I had Suse 10.1. Its too old so i thought i should switch. btw, I am not able to figure out how to make the ntfs-3g driver work in Ubuntu. I've downloaded it and even tried to update using the automatic update. but it fails, I think the problem is that i am not able to login with the root password account. I know the password but I am not able to login. It says Root login not allowed from here. Can u pls guide me how to login with the Root Login . Thanks btw .. i also tried editing the gdm.conf file (read it somewhere) to allow access to root account. But it doesn't allow you to write on the file

Hi, I need some help with Linux. 1. I need a linux distro that will be like real easy to install and should have support for ntfs preferably built-in. (I know its installed on ext3) 2. It should have support for nVidia Graphics card. Most of the linux I tried fail even to boot up. They don't recognize my graphics card. my specs are : It should support all this I also need a cool look. What I've seen is that (I may be wrong) GNOME are more stable but less good looking than KDE I know there are a lot better ppl than me I hope someone replies soon enough Till date I've tried to Install Kubuntu and Ubuntu. But both seem to fail to install. I think the installer is corrupt or something. I've ordered the new 8.04 online But I think there must be some better Linux Distros. Will SUSE 10.1 work on my machine ? P.S. If you don't know what i am talking about, ask for clarification. But pls don't reply with just junk and some odd links.

Hi Jeune O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Winupdates] sjjp5.exeI am still confused with this .. This doesn't look legit.Just check if the "Hide protected operating system files" is UnChecked and then look for this ..And then check the details for this file.. i don't think Microsoft would name an updater like this file :lol:except for this ur system looks clean..I am really sorry for the delay.. was busy with something .. You can mail me if you get stuck somewhere mail: blue.dragon.rulz@gmail.com

that was the trojan file .. Thats somehow removed now C:\Program Files\DNA\btdna.exe >> Are u using bittorrent 6.0 ? Don't know what these are .. >> These Look more like a Trojan infections to me.. Please check them before you remove the entry.. they may be legit.. >> go to path specified alongside and try to find out what these are (right click and properties) if it doesn't look normal.. (I mean you should look for the versions tab under properties; if its a legit file it will have information like original name, company, version etc; if its not there then the file is not legit, i'll suggest you delete these unless you created them) to remove the entry, Boot in Safe mode, run HijackThis and click on the 'checkbox' beside the item.. now click 'fix Checked'. If possible (they get deleted automatically sometimes) while in safe mode, go to the path specified in the HijackThis log and delete the files manually. P.S. Don't forget to show all your hidden files/system files while looking for these files, they are generally hidden.

Well mostly this problem is with the PS2 interface and not the USB types.... I was thinking that may be you have a pin broken in your PS2 connector interface but then I thought that may be the USB is not actually supplying enough power to the keyboard.. So just wanted to know.. Try putting the PS2 connector to a different port ( i guess there are two in most of the motherboards) or if its the USB type, try putting something else on the port its using and see if that works properly.. and do reply with the findings besides CTRL + C problem .. is there anything else that you noticed ? Don't know if this would help.. but you can still try.. http://www.passmark.com/products/keytest.htm I have tried it myself and it logs all the keys that are pressed .. just try it and see if it helps . I hope it helps btw.. you didn't write where you tried your CTRL + C ?? wordpad/notepad ? or MS Word ?
