Brain Chip Reads Man's Thoughts want one? :P
HyBriD54 replied to serverph's topic in Science and Technology
Woah what a scary thought. Hmm... split second reaction? Haha. But I think it's taking it a bit too... extreme. I mean, is it really necessary? Sticking a piece of metal into your brain so that you can do things like switch your TV on or off at will is a bit.... unappealing to me. No, actually... very unappealing.Imagine living as a machine.... or a biomachine... Some EMP comes your way and you're literally screwed. -
I Found Out What Lorem Ipsum Was Yesterday.
HyBriD54 replied to EricsSite's topic in General Discussion
I found that out just a few months ago in my Information Processes and Technology class when my friend was reserving space to type additional things later on. The first thing I saw was and I was like "Woah... how do you remember all of that? -
You should hear the noises Marshall Law makes then when he gets KO'd in Tekken 6. He sounds literally like a rooster. Anyway, Tekken 3? Isn't that the last Tekken game to be released on the first Playstation Console? It was alright for it's time, but I prefer the newer Tekkens. After playing Tekken Tag, Tekken 5 and Tekken 6, Tekken 3 seems very very painfully slow. Not a bad game overall, and the sidegame thing was pretty fun as well as it unlocks Doctor B or whatever he was called. What was the minigame called again? Tekken Force or something?

Omg that kitten is so cute! And congratulations!About the altered thing I agree with Misanthrope. Having more than 4 pets can be extremely tedious to manage, and you always run the risk of getting more and more kittens unless you get them altered. That's what we did to our pet dog anyway. And yes we would need to know the gender of the kitten before we can suggest viable names. It's so cute though!

I have very little amount of consoles... I generally stick to the PC platform. Constantly updating hardware ftw. I own(ed):PS (I don't use it anymore)PS2 (I still play it)GB (Very outdated)GBA (Sold it)And that is all. Most recent game for me (for gaming consoles) was probably GTA Vice City on the Playstation 2.

What Is The Fourth Dimension? something like a hypercube...?
HyBriD54 replied to apexbug's topic in General Discussion
What is the fourth dimension? That was from wikipedia. Did anyone actually UNDERSTAND what all that load of nonsense (at least to me) meant? And they went on about things like shining light on different dimension objects to produce different dimension shadows etc. How extremely confusing... Notice from rvalkass: Anything which isn't original to the forums needs to be Quoted. -
Similarity between C&C3 and SC2? You can't really judge if C&C3 and SC2 are going to be similar in gameplay. Graphics-wise they both currently appear to be the flashy looking type of game. It is kind of difficult to distinguish between the units in SC2 (at least a lot more so in SC2 than in the original). Also, I tend to notice in C&C3 you can just mass an uber unit and go pwn the other team very quickly while in Starcraft you'd be even using the basic Tier 1 units late in the game when upgraded (sometimes even more resourceful and powerful than the upper tiers).

I'd say when they start high school, and that is generally the time where they spend more and more time out of home rather than in home, and you will find giving them a mobile phone will keep both of you more informed than... alone. Well, you don't have to give them a crazy latest model type of phone, a second hand or older model will be sufficient.I got mine when I was 13 years old, when I started High School here in Australia. I'm not the type who envies others when they have better phones or anything, unless it's something I seriously want badly, and in that case, I tend to negotiate with my parents rather than whinge.

Age of Empires I I thought was a lot better than it's successors (I've never played Age of Empires III but I have played Age of Empires II and I was a bit... disappointed). It was a lot more fast paced and it's graphics were pretty amazing for the time they came out. But some of the controls in the game were annoying, but that was maybe because I was too used to playing Starcraft, Warcraft II and Warcraft III as well as the Command and Conquer games. There were so many different civilisations, but they lacked variety, although some techniques of gameplay required only using certain civilisations, which made it slightly more interesting. In terms of difficulty, Age of Empires I was also a hell of a lot more harder than Age of Empires II (I loved the Castle in Age of Empires II though!). The cheats in Age of Empires I were also... amusing.

Umm... the last time I checked Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 were both RPG's, not RTS'. So yeah.Yeah Diablo was a cool game, but as much as I'm looking forward to another Diablo game, I would prefer Blizzard to work on Starcraft 2 first instead.

Wrong board buddy. This is a board for RTS games. Where RTS equals Real Time Strategy. Command and Conquer, Age of Empires, -craft games... and all. You might be looking for the Counter-Strike to discuss matters on Counter Strike instead of this board. Counter-strike 1.7? What's this? Some myth? From what I know there isn't going to be a Counter Strike 1.7 game out or even in development now. Haha, Counter-strike as a RTS game, that would be really amusing. *select Terrorist* *command to plant C4 in Counter Terrorist area*

The last book I read was the Discworld Novel by Terry Pratchet named "Going Postal". It's pretty interesting, and has a touch of humour in it, so it's not overly boring, but the humour isn't exactly super cliche either. Just right. It is in fact one of my first Discworld Novels I've read in my entire life.

It kind of depends on what game I'm playing. If it's something like an MMORPG I'll generally join a friendly guild so it's a bit more fun, and in team events I'll find it easier to find other members to participate with. As with RTS's I'll generally free-lance, but I have joined (and made) clans with just friends of my own, only once being in an extremely competitive gaming clan (league/WGT for Starcraft) and played very seriously for several years. I've never bothered to play so seriously after that.I find when you're in a clan you kind of get mixed advice from all members, and that could be confusing sometimes, although it speeds up your learning process relatively quickly. You also receive news quite regularly etc. With Freelancer, you can learn it your own pace, which is more comfortable, but can sometimes be extremely slow, particularly if the game offers overwhelming amount of content and it puts you off it (though at this point you wouldn't really consider joining a clan or a guild anyway). So it kind of depends if you like the competitive atmosphere of a clan, as well as enjoying other people's company. I would however, take my time in joining a clan that I am not familiar with (you wouldn't want to join a very dead clan/guild with only like 2 people online at a given time).

I would also like to add that Starcraft and its expansion Brood War is very commonly played game in Korea. So famous in fact, that it is considered a national sport, and that people earn money playing it. I was on an aeroplane trip to China once when I saw on TV there were in fact, dedicated TV channels to Korean Starcraft gaming. Quite hardcore for us casual gamers however. Starcraft series, according to Wikipedia, is 89th best selling video game franchise, with games like Mario, GTA, Final Fantasy, Sims, and Pokemon being the top 5. But that is because they've made and sold alot of games, whereas the majority of sales from Starcraft come from the original game (selling more than 9 million copies).

Artificial Intelligence Is it ethical?
HyBriD54 replied to devin_love3's topic in Science and Technology
Artificial Intelligence would be quite interesting (but not exactly possible in this century) since it would ease quite a few problems relating to humans and their limitations. They'd be more useful engineers (albeit more limited in aspect of tasks they can accomplish unless we manage to construct highly advanced robots) since human error (and indeed, almost all error) would be eliminated, allowing extremely precise calculations. They could also be placed to do certain tasks that may have been quite well impossible to accomplish with humans. Robots, as stated by the previous poster(s), does not require to bypass barriers such as proper nourishment (although proper maintainence would be required, not to the degree of daily care though) and possibly less costly. On the other hand though, it would be strange to find pieces of metal doing all work for you, in fact, it would be quite unnerving if I were in that position. -
Hmm... I'm looking forward to seeing the Starcraft 2 Map Editor, as it is supposedly alot more flexible (and in turn, better) than the Warcraft 3 one, which already has a staggering amount of features you can use to change the typical melee map setting to something very different. Probably why the Warcraft 3 Custom Map community is so huge in comparison to the Starcraft (original and Brood War).I'm also concerned about how Blizzard is going to balance the three races once again (which I doubt it will get any more balanced than its predecessor) seeing as its 3D and with all the new units and all...

Pretty amazing when you see some people do it. They know alot of shortcuts and neat tricks I wouldn't even find out even after months of playing the game. For example, Final Fantasy X. I clocked over 150 hours on my main file (max stats and all) and there's still some things I didn't even know existed until it was mentioned on the GameFAQs forum in a Speed-Run topic. Someone managed to complete it in less than a day when you'd usually take several weeks. There's even guides out there written to help you do speed runs.

Mmorpg Vs. Rpg Is the traditional RPG a dying genre?
HyBriD54 replied to TikiPrincess's topic in Computer Gaming
Haha. I'm an anti-social type of person by nature, not because of the RPG/MMORPG thing (although I play MMORPG/RPG's quite often). But wow, crying when Aeris died in Disc One o_O. I never really got TOO absorbed in the game, as I'm more "finish it then go back later and do the sidequests if I think the game is relatively fun" for an RPG or for a MMORPG I tend to start fresh rather than play my old characters when I haven't played it for a while. That being said, I don't really think Single Player RPGs and the like would really die out anytime soon (I'm looking forward to the New Final Fantasy on the PS3 and I'm pretty sure alot of other people are looking forward to playing that too eh). There have been some pretty amazing RPGs which I prefer over the MMORPG type of games but they tend to have a shorter playing life than MMORPG since MMORPGs are basically "you can never win" and it keeps playing over and over again. They also tend to be a bit costly. -
Did You Face Problem Opening Pdf With Firefox?
HyBriD54 replied to ashiezai's topic in Science and Technology
I get that problem rarely, although it tends to happen when I have used up my download limit and my internet speed is very slow. I usually can tab to the other pages while the PDF is loading. Mashing refresh or rapidly tabbing across the pages might cause it to lock up and freeze though, and that generally is very annoying, as Firefox's restore sessions can't be used since it will reload the same PDF page again.Although it's hardly the point, since you're probably just asking around if people had problems, you can just use Internet Explorer/Opera or another Internet Browser to load the page or as someone else had already suggested, manually save it using Save Link As... -
In actuality, I think Blizzard did an amazing job when it came to supporting as many players as they could, as most of their games had Mac support as well as Windows. For the time when Warcraft III got released, lower end computers were able to support it quite easily unlike some extremely graphic intensive games. I checked the Starcraft Box I bought a long time ago and it said: System Requirements (Windows 95/98/2000/ME/XP/NT 4.0):Pentium 90 or equivalent16 MB RAM80 MB available hard drive space2X CD-ROM drive for game play (4X for cinematics)Local bus SVGA video card (Direct-X compatible)Microsoft-compatible mouseDirectX-compatible sound card for audioMultiplayer Options:2 Players: 14.4 kbps modem or null modem cable2-8 Players: IPX Network or Battle.net (requires low-latency Internet connection with support for 32-bit applications)System Requirements (Power Macintosh)Mac OS 7.6 or higher Power PC16MB RAM (32MB RAM for Multiplayer)80MB available hard drive space2X CD-ROM drive for gameplay (4X for cinematics)Monitor support for 256 colors at 640 X 480 resolution2 Players: 14.4 kbps modem or null modem cable2-8 Players: AppleTalk Network, IPX Network or Battle.net (requires low-latency Internet connection with support for 32-bit applications) No wonder so many people can play it .

I find Starcraft a lot more fun since it's more micro/macro intensive rather than Warcraft with units at 500 hp max compared to Warcraft's 1000+, although Warcraft's melee is still fun. The concept of heroes is pretty cool (probably never really done before in an RTS) but not exactly my idea of fun. On the other hand however... heroes make Warcraft Custom Games awesome, especially with the ability to throw alot of custom spells and use alot of custom items which was not avaliable in Starcraft and it makes the game alot more flexible. But that makes it alot harder to balance, and that's what I like about Starcraft: it's balanced between the three races yet they are unique in almost every aspect. So in short: Warcraft for Custom Games, and Starcraft for Melee games.

You haven't really played Generals until you have Zero hour. I bought mine for 14 dollars WITH the original (yep, the price has decreased by alot, and I mean alot since the first release)To those who said that it does not add much is quite misguided. There are, in essence, 9 new factions (just modified factions) that require new strategies than the normal ones. There's a new campaign for each faction as well as a new mode and improved AI.There are gameplay changes too! It's alot more easier to play around with, and you can change the game speed now (thank god, in the original it was so slow at some points it wasn't funny). The interface lets you use General skills and Superweapons easily, as there is a tab on the side of the screen which lets you use it rather than manually finding the building and having to select the nuke button and finding the spot to nuke when you can just focus your screen at where you wish to fire the nuke and click twice and Boom! Easy nuking. There's also a BIG performance boost than in the original game, and even now I set the settings to high on the Zero Hour options it will barely lag or stutter unlike the original where I've got everything on low and it's still very slow.I don't play online on Generals though, although I've heard it's quite slow and unstable... Can anyone clarify?

Rofl yeah those things always happens eh. Give the new OS some time and wait for Microsoft to patch some problems up etc and it might be better... And then you have those groups who are dedicated to one OS only, some programming companies are like "Omg let's make this Vista only!" and that might influence some people into buying Vista. I was at my friend's house a few days ago, and I was deleting some files...: "Do you want to delete this file ___?" "Are you sure?" "You need to be an administrator to do this" I mean honestly... aren't OS's MEANT to be easy to use?

I used a Xisto website (a forum in fact) run by a friend of mine with members in our local community. The service was quite good, noticing it was a subdomain, I was quite shocked when there were no advertisements or anything. Bravo Xisto! Thanks for the services you provide!

Sims is quite fun at first, but the fun deteriorates quite rapidly afterwards once you get yourself settled in. It is also insanely difficult when you have to manage a 8 member family. Cheats have helped me though although they merely make it more boring alot quicker than usual... Also, I'm surprised at the size Sims Deluxe Edition (actually the Sims overall) takes, its only around 11.38MB on my system! (That is The Sims, The Sims Livin' Large and the Sims Hot Date) It doesn't require a huge system requirement either, which is good for it's graphics.I'm curious though... How much better/worse is Sims 2 and its expansions in comparison to the first one? Would you say the First one is better or the Second one?
