Have You Ever Lied Online? Tell me why people would lie online
HyBriD54 replied to velma's topic in General Discussion
I generally don't tend to lie if I can help it.If I'm using email/IM, I don't give my email out to people I barely know. If I'm, say, playing an online game, I tend to not speak at all unless its associated with the game (for teamwork and strategy) if it was a public game. Sometimes I make a really deliberate and sarcastic lie, but then people still take it rather seriously. -
@galexcd.Well. If you buy the original Terran Campaign, multiplayer will be still fully functional. You will be able to play using all three races. It's a bit like the original Starcraft and Warcraft III; you won't be able to play against the others who have the expansions, but they will be able to log onto the original at will and play against you. Also, once you buy the expansion, new content will be added to BOTH single player and the multiplayer, much like how the devourer, corsair, medic, lurker, dark templar etc. were added in Brood War.I suppose the final result will be significantly better than if the game was released all in one go, but we'll see...

Starcraft 2 has been confirmed to have been split up into three different stand-alone games. Each game will feature approximately 30 or so missions and will each have their own different style from the other two campaigns. The three campaigns are as follows: Terran: Wings of Liberty, Zerg: Heart of the Swarm and Protoss: Legacy of the Void.I hope Blizzard doesn't price each of the games TOO high... as I personally consider it a money-making scheme if they set it to $60+ for each game. The reason for selling the games as standalone campaigns are probably because Blizzard wants more development on the storyline and gameplay features. They'll be adding new content (on multiplayer) for each race so it's still a plus even if you aren't going to play through the campaigns (but why not? Starcraft storyline was awesome. So was Brood War).

Right now, I am supposed to be on a two-day school camp. I am supposed to be on a coach, visiting interesting places, and looking forward to a night spent hanging out with friends in a 10-person dorm room. But instead, I am aimlessly browsing the net and trying to find a human to talk to. I am sick. I fell sick five days ago, with a mild fever. I went to the doctor straightaway and got some antibiotics, and spent the next four days resting, even though I have major exams coming up in a fortnight. But it didn't work. But here's the worst part: exactly one month ago (and I mean exactly one month - to the day) I fell sick too. And exactly one month ago, I had another camp to attend, which I had to miss. And it was exactly the same problem: some kind of throat infection. Back then, I got an antibiotic and it started working in a few days, and I was completely well in about three days (just after the camp finished). I did not think it would happen again, but it did. And I kept building my hopes, even though the mercury never shrank during those five days. After all, I had done all the right things: gone to the doctor, gotten some drugs, rested all day, and drunken lots of water. Here's the thing though: our school is rather deprived in the camps department. We have two grade-wide camps throughout high school, and today's is the second one. (The one last month was not.) I have just missed the last grade-wide school camp I'll ever be able to attend. In my life. And it was the same problem that made me miss another camp that I so badly wanted to go to. And the timing is so perfect. No matter what I tried in those days, putting everything else on hold, hoping I could go today, nothing would work. And I am almost SURE that it will miraculously heal to coincide with the end of the camp. Because that's basically what happened last time. The chances of this are almost unbelievable. Perfect timing, same illness, exactly one month apart, just in time to miss two eagerly-anticipated camps. Just imagine what it would be like to fall sick and miss something that you'd been looking forward to for a while. And then, trying to comfort yourself, you say "oh well, there's another better one next month". Only to miss that one as well, even though you do all the right things to try to stop that from happening. No matter what you try, you don't get better. And then as soon as it becomes clear you can't go to the camp, you suddenly get cured. The loneliness is awful too. There's nobody to MSN because I am the only one who's not there. My friends rang me earlier, asking me how I was (not very well). I really hope they have fun. But at the same time, I really wish I could be with them... It's not the camp itself. Or the sickness itself. But the fact that it seems as though sickness is striking me for the specific purpose of preventing me from going to camps. (Sure enough, my temperature's gone back down to normal. And it's evening here - when my temperature's usually the highest. I haven't had a normal temperature in the last five days. And now, I have it - just after it became certain I wasn't going to the camp) How else can you explain this incredible coincidence?

Interesting review.A Grand Theft Auto for the... Nintendo DS... Riiiiight. Sounds intriguing. I don't know the story behind GTA4 so yeah. The only GTA I've played seriously is probably San Andreas (which took hellishly long to complete, getting all the horseshoes and that). I'm curious as to how they changed the controls to suit the Nintendo DS, and the new changes they've made (you said police WANTED! is removed by destroying their vehicles) and how it'll play out. Too bad I don't have a DS though, otherwise I would most likely try it out.

I, myself, don't use the Pack, but my friend from school does and I must say that the VTP (Vista Transformation Pack) looked cool/genuine enough to fool the majority of my class into believing that the OS my friend was using was actually Vista (when in fact, it is actually XP =]]. Personally I think it's pretty cool, although I don't really find it necessary... and it costs money apparently.Oh and I've seen some themes actually SPEED the computer and improve it's performance, although not by alot.

What Nintendo Console And Handheld Do You Think Is The Best?
HyBriD54 replied to williamm's topic in Computer Gaming
I would have to say the Wii and DS. Why? Because they are some pretty innovative technologies: both have some form of sense and control function that is used for their games (or at least, most of their games). I suppose you could call it more 'interactive' or something, and it is an experience you wouldn't really get with many of the other consoles where you just mash buttons all the time.Amazing thing with the DS is that they use some pretty good methods, such as blowing into the microphone to 'lift balloons' up or something like that (can't remember too clearly). -
If you are supplied with something along the lines of "program outlines" or outcomes you need to accomplish I suggest you run through those and sort of "tick off" each outcome. Making notes (not borrowing others) would also be useful for theory. If it is something like Maths, it's something on the matter of practise until you can memorise the formulas and methods you would need in the exams.

I generally tend not to skip class, unless I'm injured or sick (in that case I'd have to go home/sick bay etc.) even if it is a class I really hate. Of course, when I am expecting an unfavourable bit in class (such as an oral presentation, and it is not my turn yet) I'd "go to the toilet" for a longer period than usual... But I have not fully skipped a class... yet.

What is the best USB Flash Disk outhere?
HyBriD54 replied to hansley's topic in Science and Technology
Sony Microvaults are really cool. They have this clicking mechanism that makes the USB connector retract inside the casing when you unplug it, although I suppose that makes them more delicate than USB storage devices with caps. -
Does anyone here use XHTML? If you do so, why?I'm told XHTML is just "strict" HTML (for example, you have to use <br /> instead of <br> because the tag has to close itself or something), but what is the advantage of using a "stricter" form of HTML?

Does anyone know just how private "Unlisted" albums are?Unlisted albums are given a hard-to-guess URL, to me this seems like a creative but quite insecure way of making something private.

I'm dual-booting Windows and Ubuntu. My HD has 3 partitions, one for each operating system and the third partition for my stuff. The Windows partition is formatted as NTFS, and the Ubuntu partition is formatted as ext2.I formatted the third partition as FAT32 because when I first set up this system, Ubuntu couldn't read from/write to NTFS partitions easily. But now that Ubuntu can supposedly handle NTFS, should I move all my stuff off the HD, reformat the third partition as NTFS, and put everything back on?Would this have any huge advantage over having my stuff stored in a FAT32 partition, and will doing this make it harder for Ubuntu to handle my files?

Ur View On Cheaters Whats your view on cheaters?
HyBriD54 replied to Accure's topic in Computer Gaming
I do not approve of cheating in multiplayer online games, especially when I am the host of the server/match. I find that it ruins the other players experience and fun, and this is something I do not allow. If I catch you cheating online, you'd find yourself on a little banlist (actually it's quite big now) of mine.I do not mind cheating single player however. I accept if you can't be bothered to play through single player campaign and missions so using cheats (especially if it is already provided to you by the game developers) is completely fine with me. In fact, in some console games, I use cheats myself. In testing game mechanics, I do use cheats (Action Replay, Gameshark, Codebreaker etc.) to test certain things that would otherwise not be possible at all without cheating. As stated by previous posters, cheating DOES make certain aspects of the game fun, but mostly (for me at least), it removes the fun in majority. -
I don't mind getting any vaccination/blood tests/anything that pierces the skin medically/any form of injections but I DO find it quite odd for someone to actually enjoy them (as in, take certain pleasure in). I had gotten acupuncture in the knee before, and it was a lot less painful than arm injections (although acupuncture and vaccinations are quite different). The last time I had a blood test in the arm was quite a while ago, and the nurse kept missing the vein... Wasn't too pleasant anyway; when whoever is operating on you misses the desired location a fair few times.Hmm... speaking of which, I'm due to a tetanus injection next year...

Asian Food Recipes Recipe to learn how to cook Asian food
HyBriD54 replied to itcom's topic in Health & Fitness
How To Make Sushi Like many people think, sushi just has to be one of the best foods in the world. No matter how cheap or expensive it is, the sushi flavours are just so delicious, and healthy as well! And you thought it was hard to make? I don?t think so?I?m only 15 and I can make pretty good sushi, if you ask me? Well, preparation courtesy to my kind mother? But on a serious note, making sushi is much easier than most people would have thought, you just need the right ingredients and equipment. Some main ingredients:Raw fish: tuna, salmon, broiled eel, etc?(Note, the fish HAS to be fresh for good taste and health issues) Rice vinegar (be sure to ask for rice vinegar for sushi)Rice cooker Rice (preferably short-grain glutenous rice) Wasabi powder or that wasabi paste you can buy at good Asian grocery storesWaterSome lengths of cling wrapA sushi cast (sort of a like a mould to help get the perfect sushi shape, optional)Water A Bamboo Matt (to roll the sushi with, optional, but having one makes life hell easier)Soy sauceDried seaweed (as in those big sheets) A good sharp knifeA cutting board A medium-sized pot for boiling water Some nice platters or plates for servingChopsticks (optional but recommended) Fillings (some popular ones are sliced carrots, cucumbers, preserved parsnip (that yellowy preserved vegetable), chicken, etc?)Preparation 1. If the fish isn?t already in its soft room temperature state, thaw it out by placing it somewhere clean to thaw.2. Start by washing the bowl from the rice cooker, and measure the rice.3. After measuring around 5 cups of rice, add some water and hand wash the rice.4. Drain for a couple of minutes.5. Wash the rice a couple more times, then add enough water to the bowl until it reaches the needed amount of water proportionate to rice line in the bowl.6. Turn it on and leave it on. 7. Whilst the rice is cooking, when the fish is soft, get ready for cutting. Start cutting long strips of the fish, ensuring each slice is roughly around 3-4 cm long. 8. Make some wasabi by adding the powder in a bowl and adding water until the paste is thick. If you bought the paste, this is unnecessary.9. Ensure all fillings are in strips for the sushi.10. The rice should be ready by now. Give it a few stirs to loosen it up. Now, add some rice vinegar and stir it in. Keep seasoning with rice vinegar until you like the way the rice tastes. When the rice is seasoned, place it in a bowl. Now for those who don?t have a mould1. Make a rice bed in the centre of the seaweed, with the bamboo mat underneath, covered in plastic.2. Lay the fillings on top, as with the mould, making sure it is all at one end of the mat.3. Holding tightly, but not too hard, roll the sushi together, stopping now and then to squeeze the sushi roll, to ensure it is tight and firm. 4. Unroll the mat and your sushi should be done.5. Slice the sushi with quick short movements, not a single slice, around 3-4 cm for each slice.Itadakimasu! (Let?s Eat!) -
What Do You Think About The Lhc Experiment?
HyBriD54 replied to FreedomOverdose's topic in Science and Technology
Haha creating a black hole.Thing is, though, they're not really trying to make a black hole. They just want to see what happened straight after The Big Bang. They're interested in how our universe formed. And hey, aren't we all? It's always interesting to read scientific theories as to how our universe appeared out of nowhere.I doubt CERN (the ones doing the project) can create a black hole. Unless you look at the Dan Brown version of CERN, I don't think they'd have the equipment to create such massive gravitational forces.More intriguingly, though, in a black hole something strange happens to space and time. Maybe you survive the black hole and end up in another era. Like, in the time of the dinosaurs or maybe in the Year 5000. It would be pretty cool if it wasn't for the fact that the Earth would no longer exist in the future because we'd just compacted it into a black hole. As for going to the past, well, bringing a computer and a plasma screen TV and a Mercedes Benz and a passenger plane to the time of the Ancient Romans would probably make them think we're their Gods. And we could try out the Grandfather Paradox. You know, the one that says you can't travel back in time because then you can kill your ancestors, preventing you from being born. I wouldn't mind going through a Black Hole if it meant I could go back to the past, as long as I had people and weapons with me - I don't want to face Sabre Toothed Tigers all by myself. Going to the future scares me. Maybe because of all those stories about how mankind is going to get so powerful it's going to overwhelm and destroy itself. And my comparatively useless machine guns and F-34s and nuclear bombs probably aren't going to do much to protect me. -
Google Releases Browser Aka Chrome Beta release
HyBriD54 replied to dimumurray's topic in Search Engines
Yeah. I agree mostly with that, it certainly looks pretty cool, but its got some noticeable errors in it, like that web page scrolling you said. It's only in its beta though, so I suppose you should give it some time to fix itself up. I still prefer firefox overall, and Google Chrome doesn't exactly have a big or noticeable speed advantage over Firefox, so I'd rather still use Firefox. I guess I'm simply much more used to it. After all, old habits die hard, and I still love the plugins I have for Firefox.Oh, but Google Chrome's Preference options and Bookmarks etc. transfer option is REALLY handy, I'll give Google that one. -
Cosplay would just have to be one of the major parts of the anime and manga world. Some cosplays look fantastic while some?just fall apart slightly. The way the materials are gathered and then also created is just amazing?reflecting on the maker?s skill and imagination. For example, the cosplay of Princess Tomoyo is simply amazing. The makeup is applied sparingly, as so the model does not as superficial as one would assume. The headdress?s details are just fabulous, with the intricate tassels dripping off, intertwining with the hair. Some of the most overrated cosplays I have seen would have to be the ones from Naruto and Bleach, possible the two most well known animes in the world. Though most outfits are excellent, some are just rather drab and fail as proper costumes, no offence to anyone out there. One of the best cosplays I have seen would have to be Asuka?s Geisha Costume from Tekken 5, with intricate details on the kimono and wonderfully done up hair. It was just simply amazing.

Hey there. Some of the books out there are really good and I'll start making some recommendations. One of my particular favourites at the moment would have to be Fractions of Zero by Bill Murray. Although not that entirely well known, this would have to be the book to read for the year. To tell you a bit about it, this book is about a serial killer, going around killing supposedly random victims in horrific and undiscovered ways. Your point comes from both the detectives tracking him and the serial killer himself. This will just instantly hook you, it's that good.Assuming you've heard of the famous Alice in Wonderland, well you just have to read the other darker version: Frank Beddor's Through the Looking Glass. Coming from the same point of view, this is supposedly the real version instead of the happy story we have all learnt to love. Alice's aunt is rebelling from the kingdom and soon, mutiny is all about. Alice, orphaned by the war, is sent to our world, where she is thought to be mentally unstable. Read it to find out the rest, because once spoilt, it's not a big surprise as much anymore.Another interesting author would just have to be Chris Wooding, and his books, particularly Storm Thief and The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray. Set in a world like our own, both have wonderful plots and twists and will absolutely ensure you won't put it down till you finish.Though I haven't been able to get my hands on these, Uglies and Pretties, two books by Scott Westerfield have been highly recommended to me by several friends.

Sooner or later though, Warcraft III will stop being sold, although I doubt that is going to be happening anytime soon, seeing as Starcraft is one old *bottom* game and it is STILL being sold in seperate CDs (for just Starcraft and just the expansion Brood War) as well as Starcraft Battle Chest.

I would also like to add that the controls for Zero Hour is much more better than in the Original Generals. No longer do those annoying arrow key select specific units in your army! Navigating around the map can now be done with arrow keys, and now it is so much more easier. And the graphics have improved from the original too.
