  1. I am a computer gamer (I take advantage [nothing ominous] of the Internet, as I love online gaming), but I also own various gaming consoles, my newest being a Wii (it is the only new generation consoles I currently own). The Wii is pretty fun and I'm currently brawling all day (and unlocking characters) with my friends/family. My favourite console (aside from the PC) would probably be the Playstation 2, although this may change depending on what games are going to be released for the Wii...I might even get a Playstation 3.
  2. Currently playing (from a long time ago too) the following games:PCWarcraft 3 Reign of ChaosWarcraft 3 The Frozen ThroneStarcraft OriginalStarcraft Brood WarWorld of WarcraftWorld of Warcraft The Burning CrusadeCommand and Conquer GeneralsCommand and Conquer Generals Zero HourPS2Final Fantasy XSmackDown! Vs Raw (the one after Here Comes the Pain)WiiSuper Smash Brothers BrawlMario KartNow I'm putting more attention on Super Smash Brothers Brawl (trying to unlock quite a large number of hidden characters). It's amazingly fun, and quite a step up from its predecessors (I wanted Roy in Brawl though!), so if you have a Wii I recommend you getting the game (although it does not make use of the Wii sensor system.... much). It's been recently released though, so the price of the game may be rather high at the moment, but wait a few weeks/months/whatever and buy it! It's worth it!P.S. I still need to try WiFi though. But apparently it's a bit laggy, but I'll see...
  3. In actuality you CAN run the game if it's not patched perfectly. You just can't go online. But I see your referring to World of Warcraft although this topic is about Warcraft III so yeah...Well, over here in Australia, I can still see plenty of copies of Warcraft III (they still come in Warcraft III Reign of Chaos [seperate], Warcraft III The Frozen Throne [seperate], and the Warcraft III BattleChest [including the Warcraft III Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne strategy guide]). So I don't really think that they are cutting production
  4. Diablo III right now is looking really sweet. Just went to the official Blizzard Entertainment site for Diablo III and it looks beast. I might give it a swing although I haven't played any of the first two Diablo games, so I have no idea about storyline/gameplay or anything of that sort anyway. But from the screenshots I can see that Blizzard's already developed it quite well (I wonder when they started developing the actual game. If I remember, Starcraft II project was started around the release of Warcraft III Frozen Throne). Also, at one of the live conferences or something one of the Blizzard representatives said they are producing another MMO, which I don't know about. I found out on another forum anyway.
  5. I would like a password reset. Thanks.EDIT: Old password works. IGNORE THIS POST PLEASE.
  6. I would buy the PlayStation 3 (I'm a PS fan, so my post WILL probably contain some bias towards the other consoles), as IMO some of the games that (will soon be) released are worth having (and at least trying). But the Wii and XBOX360 aren't bad myself, or so I've heard. I've played the Wii but not the XBOX 360, but I suppose they won't be too horrible. But be careful when choosing one, the PlayStation 3 requires a HUGE amount of power (it can overheat to the point I can start barbecuing my dinner on it, or NOT) and the initial cost when buying the PlayStation 3 is also rather huge, but I hear they've reduced to price quite significantly (around half the cost of when it was released initially).
  7. DoTA is more RPG than strategy in aspects of gameplay, seeing as you basically only get to control one unit (which is the hero you pick in a tavern depending on what you are affiliated with [i.e. The Sentinels defending the World Tree or The Scourge defending the Frozen Throne]. It is a pretty amazing maps, with many of the abilities from certain heroes created by a HUGE amount of triggers (I still wish I knew how to code some spells, like Burrow Strike and Toss, while some I managed to get hold of, such as Chronosphere, Black Hole and Omnislash). So yeah, after such heavy customization you don't really recognise the original Warcraft III gameplay elements in the game, as it has a completely new and different feel to it. It DOES get repetitive after a while though, and I would partially agree that the map itself is quite overrated by the gaming community, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course. It's fun, but I wouldn't play it all day and still think it's fun, but whatever floats your boat eh?
  8. Lol, don't exactly trust Blizzard fully when coming to release dates... I still remember how badly Starcraft Ghost was pushed back and eventually "postponed indefinitely". I'm interested in how well Starcraft 2 would play out though... with all those new units and abilities, it looks like Blizzard Starcraft 2 Development Team (most of the original Starcraft staff have already left) will have to spend a LOT of time trying to balance the three races to the extent of balance between the three races in the original Starcraft (they were pretty well balanced, and it was mostly the map itself that would favour particular races rather than the gameplay itself, and yet they were so different). The Original Starcraft and Brood War were pretty damn fun if I remember correctly, as I was still playing it even after several years after it's release (in fact, a lot of people still play today, and online).Another thing I'm interested in is the Starcraft 2 Map editor... the Warcraft 3 was extremely powerful, allowing you to manipulate MANY of the game's (Warcraft III Frozen Throne was more adept at this) aspects, allowing you to transform the core game into something completely different (appearance-wise, gameplay-wise etc. [although this would require a BUTTLOAD amount of editing and designing to do, especially if you wanted to create models of your own or create a lot of complicated triggers]). That was a significant step up from the Starcraft StarEdit Map Editor (which during it's time, was pretty good itself), and the release of Frozen Throne was also a rather significant step up from the Original Warcraft III Map Editor (allowed the customization of items, as well as many new triggers, units, doodads, etc.).
  9. Apparently this "RTS" games differs very much from the other games in the genre, but it's supposedly fun nonetheless. I never played it before, but my friend from school claims its awesome. Graphically speaking (not judging the quality of the game by it's cover though), it DOES look awesome. I'll probably need a better rig if I wanted to take a swing at this game.
  10. Vampires. Possibly one of the most overused devices/characters in fiction. There?s so much vampire literature around these days, it?s hard to write an original, successful vampire story. Kind of hard to write a vampire story without being accused of stealing another author?s ideas as well, because of the sheer volume of vampire lit hanging around. Written badly it seems clich? and possibly a plagiarised version of another writer?s work, but written well? What are some of the best (or worst XD) vampire books/stories you?ve come across? I haven?t read many myself but I think Peeps and The Last Days by Scott Westerfeld were really good and original. He backed up all his fiction, gave good reasons WHY his vampires have superhuman strength and don?t like mirrors, etc., as well as writing awesome stories. I recently read Stake That! by Mari Mancusi? a vampire novel that was rather more clich? but still quite good.
  11. Hmm . . . I?ve never actually heard of the whole RDPD story being a fake. It said in the publishing info that some events had been purposely altered or something, but not that the large majority was untrue. I.E. I assumed that while some aspects would be untrue, like the casting-nickels-out-of-toothpaste-caps thing, the majority would still be true, as in he actually did live in Hawaii. But meh. I read the book a while ago and thought . . . well, it?s good if you want to change your mindset about money, but not so great on the practical side. The vast majority of the book is dedicated to changing someone?s thinking about the concept of money and all. Not much practical stuff ? all it says on that front is basically just buy investments to get rich.

    Cherub

Haha, CHERUB . . . those books are awesome. The idea sounds ridiculous, a pretty big network using kids as spies, but the way the story is told and written, with all the background info about CHERUB campus and various training methods and exercises, Robert Muchamore actually makes it sound believable ? it sounds real, like it actually could exist. Maybe a part of the ?realness? comes from the fact that the kids actually do behave like kids, even though they?re spies. Random thought: James is a good CHERUB agent, but I swear he has some sort of inability to NOT get together with a new girl every mission he goes on, even if he?s already with someone (coughKerryandDana).
  13. 1. Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. Awesome concept, awesomely written as well. Except Extras (fourth in the ?trilogy? XD) was slightly disappointing. These are now in no particular order?*Old Kingdom trilogy by Garth Nix*All Scott Westerfeld?s young adult novels, actually*Ice Station by Matthew Reilly was amazing*Anthony Horowitz?s Alex Rider and Power of Five series also?I guess that?s the five taken up o_O
  14. Hmm. So many books are being turned into movies it?s scary. The one I?m quite apprehensive about is the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. It has a lot of stuff in it that is really hard to portray via the screen. Plus the books are awesome and I find that movies tend to do horrible things to books. -.- But I?m still going to watch it XD.One book-turned-movie which I think was not that good was Stormbreaker. It turned out so much more ridiculous and farfetched than the book ? and they changed so many things it wasn?t funny. Somehow the tone of the story changed to realistic and believable (as believable as 14-year-old spy can get anyway) into childish and lame.
  15. My first computer I ever used was a very old Apple Mac. I hate Macs. I never really learned to use one properly. This was at school, before I bought a computer for myself. The first computer I actually bothered to use properly was the old Pentium II computer my dad bought for me when I was preparing for exams. It ran Windows 95, and basically when I had free time I'd just toy around with it, and learn slowly how the Operating System worked. Also, I had access to a limited connection to the Internet *coughDial-Upcough* which also helped me when I needed to know some things about Windows. That's once I grasped the idea of using search engines...
  16. Yeah, my graphics card isn't exactly good but Camtasia has been extremely lenient on system resource use and graphics card strain is minimal when I'm recording my desktop (try not to use Camtasia to record video games, it lags like crazy unless you have one monster rig). So yeah, the only program I'd recommend for recording your desktop activities is Camtasia Recorder (which is packaged in with Camtasia Studio). (As it comes under the name of a "Studio), it also allows you to do some quick video editing and playback etc. after you have recorded it (I use adobe priemere elements for this though). If for some reason you want to record video games, get Fraps, which is optimised for capturing video game video data (you will need a huge amount of space though for lengthy recordings).
  17. I have a mobile phone so old it's probably about to fall apart any minute as I am typing this. Some Motorola one, which runs out of battery very quickly. This phone can probably go into a museum or something XD. I'm fine with it though, I only need a phone to text and call people, not get all these fancy accessories like radio, GPS, Bluetooth, games and the like.
  18. Lol yeah. I sometimes get that feeling too. But the "dream sequence" appears to go on even when I'm sub or vaguely conscious of my actions. I also "realise" that I'm in a dream, but I never do anything like I would supposedly do in the physical world like pinch or injure myself physically to check if I am dreaming or not (I sound insane but meh.)Also, sometimes I am aware that the dream likes to repeat itself over and over and over and over again and it feels really bizarre since I know EXACTLY what to do again and again etc...I sound crazy don't I?
  19. You're going to have a big headache trying to find out if Starcraft and its expansion Brood War is better than Diablo or not (I'll be assuming you're referring to Diablo II?). One of them is a RTS, the other is an RPG. Big difference. Little amount of ways to find out if one is better than the other.Starcraft was amazingly fun back then when I played it (2000), and even after playing it for so many years (8 to be precise) I still haven't gotten sick of it.Look out though, Starcraft II is coming out.
  20. Out of that list I voted the Final Fantasy game series. Good gameplay, good graphics (as always, Square should just go make a movie instead of a game. Oh wait, they already have done Advents Children), good voice acting (at least on the most part) etc. and the series has remained solid throughout all these years. Most of my Final Fantasy games have save files clocked at 150 hours or so (yes, I'm the type of gamer who attempts for all the sidequests). However I'd like to point out that the GTA series are probably worth the money you spend them on. It took me a very long time (probably 2 years or so) to complete GTA San Andreas to 100% (I needed to collect ALL those horseshoes and all that, how annoying), and for the most part, it was very fun.
  21. I haven't exactly played any games older than GBC (Gameboy Color) and I must say that games appear to be growing more and more easier with every passing year. I notice how some people may have said that Final Fantasy X was a hard game. In my opinion, FFX in comparison to the older FFIV (not EasyGame) was extremely easy. Oh, did I mention that a lot of games are getting shorter as well?At least it compensates by giving us improved sounds, gameplay and graphics...I always found the Metal Gear Solid games extremely hard for some reason, it's either just me or the controls are wonky.
  22. Well. There's that argument where there really is NO "best" of something. The question it really asks is... best at what? And what your opinion is. You might want to try Suikoden franchise or Kingdom Hearts (as the previous few posters have mentioned). They're really good, in my opinion at least.Although it isn't online, I suggest you play some MMORPGs. Many of the better ones are found on the PC gaming platform.
  23. "But Final Fantasy on the other hand....Is it very good when compared to like....Final Fantasy 7? I must say that FF7 by far set the standard for the rest of the rpg's I play/played, and nothing so far has even COMPARED to how great it was. I don't know if it's just that it was my first rpg ever or what, but for some reason I find it very hard to find another game that I like more."BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG Overstatement. Literally. It's more popular, sure, but it is not something that destroys all competition with all the other games. If I were you I'd wait a bit until more games are released then determine whether or not to buy the system. This will reduce the price as well as guarantee that there are games you want to buy on the system as you actually buy the system itself.
  24. Woo. I love all the old-school/classic Final Fantasy games (provided they aren't SUPER old like the original FF on the NES). I have a funny feeling that as the newer games getting released every year are slowly becoming more and more easy... And sometimes shorter. Compare play time between Final Fantasy VI on SNES and Final Fantasy X on the PS2. Final Fantasy X seems very easy and short compared to Final Fantasy VI (even though it's still a fantastic game).Oh well, time will tell...
  25. XD. I never actually played Age of Empires online, by the time I actually TRIED, the Internet service thing was already quite dead, so there were no games available apart from the usual primitive method of Local Area Network connection games. Something else I noticed too, you only need one CD for 3 people! How convenient, most of the time you need one CD per person. If the controls for Age of Empire 1 was more starcraft/warcraft RTS oriented, and that the population was raised to say... 200 or so... then that would be mad. Massive army fights. Just a bit harder to control.
