My Review Of Runescape... What's Yours ( Poll ) ? My Review
Chesso replied to RsHeaven Owner's topic in General Discussion
I have ratedit 2 out of 5.The graphics and sound are more than bearable on any level. But the amazingly large repitition and *bugger all out of it* factor makes it a pain.Basically, once you get to a certain point (not too far in the game) and your doing the same thing over and over and over and over, quite literally for hours on end. -

Ahh that's ok. I mostly prefer to do everything on my own, the programming, the imagery and well iv'e tried many times to make my own midi compositions, but I think I'll stick to midi's I find around the net that sound good lol. I actually just made my first animated sprite, I haven't had the opportunity to test the actual animation out in the game yet, but I'm getting to that. It's very basic and craptastic I guess, but it's my first, oh well . I could probably make those silly movement pixels look a bit better..... lol. EDIT: For some reason the image wouldn't show using the " http://forums.xisto.com/ tags even with a direct link so I have uploaded it as an attachment (it's just a .BMP 16/17kb's or so). -
We got bored and decided to whack it on for some old multi player fun against cpu's but I can't get multi-player to work, either can't see the room, or you can (but only from one end when creating on either) but it won't properly connect to the game.Right now I'm running Windows XP Home SP1 and he is running Windows 2000 Professional SP4 (I think). Were hooked up through a Siemens Speedstream 4200 (from our ISP) for ADSL internet, it has both an Ethernet and a USB port, I use the Ethernet cable as it reaches longer into my room and my brother uses the USB cable port with the USB drivers. We actually also have a SpeedTouch 530, but end up with the same results. Now if I remember correctly, and set a static IP manually to both machine, it should work, however I attempted this and the net went bye-bye, which unfortunately won't always be practical.I tried port forwarding, but that's not much good when I can't port forward to both machines (it won't let me) and port forwarding to the router itself doesn't seem to do any good either.Oh and not sure if this is any use but normally my brothers machine is setup with 10.0.0.1 and mine with 10.0.0.2 (which AOE II recognises in the create a room portion of multi player) and sending files off across mIRC and such using these values is no problem at all.Why couldn't AOE II just let me specify the IP to connect to .Oh and I also tried the over the internet option so I could specify the IP (I used the auto assigned 10.0.0.2 from his machine, as his is 10.0.0.1), but that failed aswell, didn't even detect a room on either side).Any help is greatly appreciated.

I heard about this the other day from the misses. And then even more recently, I quickly caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a news update that mentions something about a group of people or something that weren't happy with how it was dealt out.

Ahh yep, I just copy/pasted the link in the browser, I must have forgotten to mention that lol.Well generally I'm only working with small 2D games. Right now, iv'e just gotten back in programming and I'm just making a 2D DirectX game. The map is always 350x350 and well as I don't warp it on the way, the general idea of the game is to smash open and collect blocks while avoiding enemies or traps and having things like fake breakables or collectibles and what not.I'm using a ripped bomberman sprite from a gameboy game at the moment for testing, more less size and look wise it's not half bad, but i'd prefer to have original graphics by the end, and the sooner I can get the major graphics out of the way, the less bug fixing I'll have to do later (with collisions and such). -

Got any tips on learning pixel art lol. It'd be usefull if I knew how, for making my games, so far I'm doing good on the programming side, but for making characters and things, I suck lol.Out of curiosity I wonder how long it would take to do a whole 3D model with textures like that :|. -

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having some drawing talent either , well i'd mostly be doing pixel art but either way I suck at both majorly. It's nice to know someone else out there is working in the field despite not having any formal qualifications. Gives me hope LOL. -

Btw, don't think I asked this, but is this purely a hobby alone or are you working towards something (Graphics Designer in General, game Graphics Designer, etc etc)? -
While one man might not have been able to prove jesus and god as a lie. Was he able to prove them as existing, would be a very interesting question .Where there's a gap of 18 years, that's a considerable amount of time, on average we supposedly change quite alot in over 7 years and that's more than double that.If it were feasible that the romans brainwashed him, they had a lot of time to plan such an event, it may have just very well ended up the way they wanted it, look at the world now..... or it also could have backfired.

Awww I dunno, it looks pretty darn good to me.Obviously the quality of detail and colour could be improved on, but it has the right look, so your heading in the right direction. -
Well the person on the other end has some very difficult and idiotic parents concerning computers and won't allow them to use there connection (due to a 400mb monthly bandwidth limit, yeah laughable). But were used to keeping in touch over instant messaging, and sharing files and it would be easier that way.I don't think I want to wack an industrial antenna and what not outside though lol.

The other house is like, in north-easterly sort of direction, but concerning house level, there's a fair bit in the way lol. It'd be nice if it could be done without anything overboard though, oh well.

I'm not sure how feasible and or expensive this would be, but is it possible to have a reasonable wireless connection between 2 pc's 1km+? and what would I need if I could.I haven't used anything Wireless before, atleast not concerning a PC.And I'm not *exactly* sure on the distance, but I'm guessing around 1km, more or less.I used whereis.com.au to check and it's 1.81km's, but that's by road, not a straight line.

Why can't they stop another product from running on it, it's there software isn' it.I can try and stop hackers from modifying my software and it's intended purpose .Why the hell do we need 2 graphics API's anyway, if both operating system and graphical hardware dropped support, that's less work, less trouble, less interference, less bloat, and maybe even a bit less money to fork out.How is that a bad thing .But maybe they should be using something like OpenGL that isn't controlled by Microsoft..... ahh well.

Yeah, the gas used in fridges is supposed to be pretty dangerous eh.Then again, when's the last time you ever heard of an accident concerning a fridge and it's cooling system lol.

[tutorial] Basics Of C Programming - Part 2
Chesso replied to dhanesh1405241511's topic in Programming
I actually didn't know what it meant either, but I don't think I have ever needed to use it, but then again Iv'e only seen it used rarely. -
Wow!!!!!That would be kick *bottom* to a whole new level for backing up, and then you can just unplug it and leave it alone until you need something from it or to whack something onto it.I wonder about the hefty price that most likely follows it though lol.

While I'm not so sure about programming in general, the chances of me finding help on a very specific problem in Delphi, are pretty moot .But having a small community built entirely of just programmers, designers w/e I think is sort of the objective, or atleast part of it.
-
It is indeed odd.And despite the much lower community compared that of VB, the vast amount of good and usefull components, add-ons and what not is quite high.I'm an ex vb'er myself, but VB just couldn't handle me lol, Delphi seems to have done well thus far, except for DLL's, I always do them in Dev-CPP for some reason or another.
-
I never liked the idea of water cooling, water + eletrical powered hardware doesn't go down well with me lol. One little bugger up and oops it's all gone.Surely there are plenty of other ways that are just as efficient. The room you have it in, can play a big role too, so perhaps guides on that might help lol.
-
Yeah it is a good idea, but to fit all these broad catergory's in you'll need quite the number of members. If you can find some Delphi programmers, that'd be awesome, if they use DelphiX or UnDelphiX, even better .
