  1. i hate smokers, it is disgusting to have to deal with their smoke, im not gonna point at people and tell them how to livetheir life, but come on, you cant have a little respect for the people around you?
and im talking about the people in college who smoke inside the rooms, or walk around smoking, and sit next to you smoking, i find that so disrespectful

LOL and awkard. because im one of those people whos eyes get watery and start coughing like they are having an asthma attack when someone is smoking around them.

yet getting up and moving the minute they sit next to you, is considered rude

lol what's the old saying, don't hate the player hate the game? but yes people should be respectful for the ones that who do not smoke, just as the ones that don't smoke should also consider the ones that do smoke.

Myself as an ex smoker, I understand how it is, and I respect the wishes of the ones that do not like the smell of a cigarette or cigar. It is a bad and killer of a habit that I wish that I had never started.

the way that I see it with smoking now a days is this. you do not need to hate them. the government hates them enough for all of us. and THEY have raised the tax so much, soon nobody will be smoking.

  2. hmmm will I only can tell you this much, why they collapsed was due to the weakened steel in the buildings due to the intense heat from all the jet fuel. got to remember these plane had not been in the air very long and had been heading to LA Cali. Secondly building #7 along with it surrounding buildings had been damaged from the falling pieces of not just the towers but the planes. as for why hitting the WTC? easy. they had been a hub for world trade. not only American but many other countries of the world. That's why they tried to get it the 1st time. not only to screw up the USA but the world in general.

  3. Once upon a time, I was strolling around the interwebz and I found this forum. So I decided to sign up!

I live in Montana, USA. I am an ex-wow addict.

Thats about it. Ask questions or w/e if you like

Well Welcome to Xisto Alphacide, I know you will enjoy the forum that we have here. A lot of us here are just like you. IE Coding games and chit chatting all around. We do ask that you please take the time to go over and read The Rules and Regs before you go on a posting spree. Have fun and again Welcome To Xisto. The best forum on the wild wild parking lot

  4. I don't know anything about Java sorry.
Here's what I made in a linux bash script, I know you're using windows, but I think MS DOS command line on Windows has similar commands to reproduce this script. I know I've uploaded something to an ftp server with a dos batch file before. The commands might not be exactly the same on windows, but this is just an example of what I would do.

What's converting this into an animated image is a program called ImageMagick, which according to the website, runs in Windows.

It works pretty good, it converts and uploads, but there is one problem I couldn't figure out. The final animated gif is about 2mb in size -- much too huge for web use. I couldn't figure out how to make the file size smaller, but judging but the huge amount of commands on ImageMagick's website, I'm certain there must be a way.

Put it on some kind of a timer, and it will upload the updated gif automatically and you can use it on your webpage.

That's about the only suggestion I have, I'm not much of a coder in any language. If it's possible to do something similar in php or something, I wouldn't know.

    #!/bin/bash#Animate the imageGR3DIR='/home/myusername/echoofthunder.com/GR3'convert -delay 50 kinx_br1_* -loop 0 kinx_br1_animated.gifHOST='echoofthunder.com;USER='YOURUSERNAME'PASSWD='YOURFTPPASSWORD'ftp -n -v $HOST << EOTasciiuser $USER $PASSWDpromptmkdir GR3GIFScd GR3GIFSput kinx_br1_animated.gif byeEOT
ty rob but they are jpg's not gif files. Also I found this late last night sarasota wx Thing is a little hard to really understand for me anyways.

  5. been there did that. just about any "prepaid" phones like that your pretty much just throwing your money out the window. As I said I have been there. But with me it was with a Good company which I will not name, mainly do to they are my phone carrier now :P and they are no longer in the prepay cell line. Buyer beware is what you should always think. also check with the better business bureau and see if they had anyone complain of there tactics.

  6. Hello everyone!
I'm Nguyen from Dallas, Texas. I'm Vietnamese and pretty much the biology dork. I like long walks on the beach and candle lit dinners by the seashore (if Dallas had a beach, lol). I use to have hosting with Xisto and to my surprise they are still online and expanding. I had an account since 2004(has it been that long or is that a glitch?) and then I stopped posting for a maybe a year or more and lost hosting. When I did have hosting it was great. Little to no problems at all. Well I'm back again and hoping to get into the swing of things again. Now that I don't go to school and just only work I have more free time.

well as long as you keep posting Nguyen you will be fine just you may wanna refresh yourself with all the Good stuff IE rules and regs Never hurts to refresh yourself every now and then.

Enjoy and start dry see you guys had some flooding rains there today.

  7. Ok so here we are up in connecticut. last friday a huge noreaster was predicted for our area. like 10 to 12 inches of snow. the time came closer like saterday night and they said 6 inches then sunday night adn they said like 3 inches so im all worked up about this snow storm and am excited because i might get to sleep 2 hours late but i wake up monday morinig and not one snaw flake fell the ground was bare. Y do the weather men always exadrate about things they make un educated guesses about how much snow or rain will come and nothing ever comes and it gets me really mad

Oh how I remember that snow storm very well. They had the forecast all screwed up. But it really was not the NWS fault though. If I remember right it was due to a cold front that had stalled sooner than they had thought it would. the area of low pressure aka the nore easter was to ride up the front but since it has stalled out, it had nothing to help push it along. that is where all the major snow came from. we had near a foot of the stuff here on the NJ shore in about a 12 hour time when they had only said we would get maybe 6 to 8 inches.

  8. Hey Echo, there is a linux command line application that can put together .jpg files into one animated .gif but since GRLevel3 is a windows app, I'm assuming you're on Windows. I'm not sure if this app works on windows or if there is a windows alternative. I can't remember the name, but it's easy to find by googling for "command line image animation" or something like that.
I actually used the opposite of this function with my radar images, making an already animated .gif into frames, so I could display them animated on my desktop (my desktop monitor wouldn't support animated images, but it supports changing single frame images on a loop)

I bet you could make a simple script on linux to convert ___ images to animated gif, and upload via ftp to your server on a scheduled timer. I'm not sure what a Windows alternative would be. This is one reason i'm loving linux after my recent conversion, making things automated like this is easy.

One for linux is called Gifsicle (i used this)
One for all OS is called ImageMagick, it looks impressive and full featured, more importantly, can animate images. It seems to work from a Command line on both Win and Linux.

Then, you could make a shell script (.bat in windows or .sh in linux) that uploads via ftp!

Yea rob I thought of all that, but being it is a windows app and all that. well you know how it is.
I did a major search on all this and found this http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/anis/ But this kind of coding is NOT my strong point. If you want, take a look and see what you think. I know your interested in all of this too so maybe it will help both of us. ttyl
Here is the Folder with the files that I need to use. JPG Files as you see they end with br1_0 through 9 also as Grlevel updates each file will be over written but will use the same name.

What I am needing will have to be easy to edit as well being that each radar site will have another call letter. this is out of Tulsa Oka. "kinx" So when a weather event comes up I will change that to another city. That's why it needs to be a fast and easy edit.
    John

  9. How do you want it to animate? Are you looking for an effect to get rid of the old image and replace it with the new image (like the two sliding in and out of the frame) or to transition between the two (make the old image morph into the new one)? Replacing the image, but with a little effect, would be quite easy to achieve. Morphing between the two would be almost impossible to do.

that's the thing I am not sure of. When GRLevel-3 uploads it's images it only uses 1 file now. ???_br1.jpg I can set it to upload in sequences but doing this would add space and the dreaded bandwidth. Image sizes range from 67 to 73K which really is not that much but it is the bandwidth I am worried about.

  10. god this thread is still hanging in there I see. as I said someplace back there once before Poofy on this. for one how can the Mayans or Aztec as it really should be pick a day and yet a time for the earth to go poof? Maybe a day I can take but bringing it down to the time? something like 5:11AM EST? Come on now. If they can or could do that, they could have at least told us how it was gonna end. Nukes? Asteroids? Viruses ? how?

  11. If you've had the laptop for a while and this has just started happening, then it could be due to dust reducing air flow. If you know how to disassemble a laptop, then you should check for clumps of dust within the system.

Bingo, I will bet anything that is the problem. that or a fan has stopped working. I know the laptop that I had before it gave up the ghost had a fan that was so quiet I did not even know it has stopped and caused it to over heat and well fry.
    Good luck.

  12. Help I am stumped and I know it can be done.

I use a weather radar program called GRLevel-3 which operated on my PC and then can upload via ftp to my host server.
Right now I have the Radar image going onto another file and then have that file embedded as a Iframe on the index page so that it will refresh itself every 5 mins. Site Visit My Website

What I would love to do is to have this so that I it can animate> I am sure this can be done somehow. I have seached the net and found a few ajax and php files but there really hard to understand and to configure. I am not that bright when it comes to that.

If someone here in the world of Xisto knows how or ever where I could find a way to have this done. Please Let me know asap. Really have been working hard on this, for weeks and can not find what I need or how to do it.

    Thanks
    John

  13. I've been with Xisto for nearly a year and would rate it 10 out of 10.The mycents updates always get resolved anyway.
A lot of things can go wrong on a server, and if some things
take a little bit longer time, that's just life.

I have to totally agree 10 out of 10. Yea sometimes I have had my mycents not post or been in the negative. buy withing an hour or so it had corrected it self. also Each and every time I have had to fill out a ticket, they have been replied to in a very very timely matter. Even the low. with a note saying to take your time.

  14. It's an interesting formation. I have no doubt the sun is causing the glowing, but what caused the ring or thin clour that let the sun through? Thats the real question.
the law of the universe would state that given all cloud formations are essentially random in nature at some point a perfect circle would be made, in the same way that if the lottery was played for infinity the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, would definitely appear. Its weird, im keeping an open mind. But in a skeptic believer. Ill believe something but not before i question it.

after looking at the photo more and talking with other weather and cloud buffs we have come up with an idea of the so called UFO.

And we did not know the weather in Moscow for that day but, if they had a Thunderstorm Super Cell in that area of the photo that had rotation in it. Yes that would make the clouds looks as a ring. If this is what happend though, this could be why it looks as it does. with the rotation and the sun hitting it in just the right way.

  15. Since Bob Marley is one of the top selling artists in the world, I'll assume someone out there knows his music. His bassist was a little ticked off about receiving little credit and money for a lot of the hit songs Bob became famous, and rich for. Do you think Mr Barrett is right in claiming that he had a large part in the success of Bob Marley? I think he's indeed right, the bass riffs in Bob's songs are definitely recognizable. I think this had a big part in the success of the songs.

Well Rob as a fan of the Late Bob Marley I do have to say not only did Aston Barrett, but the whole band did. not just one Rastaman like Bob but the whole should have a share in all the royalties .

  17. Online dating sites are gaining a lot more popularity as one can access easily to the like minded people around the city. Moreover, most of such dates are one time activity and both the partners rarely remembers their dates.
Have you been to such datings?

How do you feel about such dating sites where two strangers fix meeting over a short chat?

well let's see here. I have to admit I tried it once and ONLY Once. They set me up with a very pretty lady. everything that I hoped for. she and I talked over the phone and E mails for about a month before meeting in person. Well That was Mistake Number 2 because mistake number 1 was even trying it, Same as most online sites, people lie. best to meet someone on the streets I think

  18. i don't know if it is well deserved or not. i know that a president should get honored like this just because he's president. the bigger picture though shows he has worked hard to where he has gotten and has the respect of the majority. not just in the united states, but internationally. he has crossed many barriers to get to where he is at now. not one white president can say the same. his efforts say alot if people take the time to "listen".

All I can say is LMAO, Yea give him the peace prize because when he is done with his term, 1 everyone is gone be dead from his so called healthcare plan. (no people left to fight a war) or 2 he will start something with Iran or Korea and start a war and get everyone killed so we will not have anyone to fight and then there will be peace. I'm sorry but this is a Joke him getting that. I can think of many more people in this word that should get it more than Him.

  19. I am thinking of buying a weather radar program called GRLevel-3 On this program you can upload PNG and JPG of the radar onto your site using FTP I really feel as this would help my site and also be appealing to other weather lovers like myself.Questions are 1 How would I set this up, never used any FTP other than the upload from my Cpanel2Bandwith, Being it would auto upload when showing a weather event would that bring up my bandwidth or not?Just curious to know if this can be done.ThanksJohn
