Horse Racing is horse racing cruel?
disneyreporter replied to Echo_of_thunder's topic in Home & Garden
Well, where I work with therapeutic riding horses, I find horse racing extremely cruel. It's awful for human beings to get enjoyment from animals when the animals are in pain, suffering, and used for things other than their original intent. How can you watch a horse race and not cry when a horse collapses and has to be euthenized? It's horrible. Think of how the horse could have been put to much better use had it not been killed in a horse race. It makes a mockery of these beautiful creatures. Do me a favor and never bet on horse races. Rich snobby men do it because they have nothing better to do with their money. They do not care about the well being of the horses, nor do they even care about the sport in general. All they care about is making more money and "having a good time." Horses should not be pushed to the extent that they're foaming at the mouth and getting hurt to the point of being put to sleep. If horses had laws against cruel and unusual punishment, well this would surely be it. These races wear these horses out, and then after they're done racing, they have major medical issues in their older days, if they even live to be that age. Is horse racing any better than dog racing. No! Both are cruel, and neither should exist. If you find horse racing or any type of animal racing fun and enjoyable, that's pretty sick. Go and get another hobby! -
Best Way To Transfer Files I just bought a laptop
disneyreporter replied to disneyreporter's topic in Science and Technology
Ehh, I've given up on the whole Network thing. I followed the instructions on the network setup thing, but after doing that, I got a bit confused, and I didn't want to mess up either computer. Is it a problem if one computer is running Windows XP and the other is running Windows Vista?Well, in the end, I did get my music files transfered by using my iPod as flash drive. It took two trips, but it was a lot easier than the 50 or so trips it would have taken with my flash drive. Those iPods really do come in handy. Thanks for all the help and assistance you guys have provided me. If I have any more questions or issues, now I know who to turn to. Thanks again. -
Best Way To Transfer Files I just bought a laptop
disneyreporter replied to disneyreporter's topic in Science and Technology
I tried hooking up an ethernet cable to connect the two computers, but that didn't seem to do anything. I also tried creating a network between the two computers, but that failed miserably, and I'm not even sure it would work even if I got the network up and functioning. Maybe I'll just have to deal with slowly transfering everything by a USB flash drive. -
Best Way To Transfer Files I just bought a laptop
disneyreporter replied to disneyreporter's topic in Science and Technology
I believe the collect is about 15gb. The computer itself isn't wireless. It is hooked up to a wireless router which my laptop and the old computer use for internet. My new laptop can burn DVDs, but the old one can only burn CDs, which I don't think hold very much.Never heard of a portable hard drive. I was hoping to not have to spend any money since I just dished out $730, and I'm only a teenager. -
Hi there guys,I just bought a brand new Dell Inspiron laptop for $729.99. It has a processing speed of 2.0ghz, 3GB RAM, and a 250gb hard drive. I'm really satisfied, especially with the wireless internet and the fact that I can carry my computer around with me, allowing you to use your computer in comfortable spots -- outside in the shade, on the train, or even in your bed where I'm using it write now as I type. If you didn't already guess, this is my first laptop. But I do have some issues. Does anyone happen to know an easy way to transfer some of my files from my old desktop computer to my new laptop? Some files are easy enough to transfer with a USB flashdrive, like my website files and some family pictures, but transfering all of my music songs on a USB flashdrive is not feasible. It takes up way too much space to fit. A quick solution would be the best, as I cannot use my iPod on my new laptop yet without first transfering all of the songs because then all of the songs will be taken off my iPod because they are not on the new laptop. Any ideas, solutions, and just general comments are welcome and highly appreciated. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me solve my problem.Eric

I filed a support ticket, and the support team (Ashley) was able to fix my problem of not being able to log into my cPanel. Everything is back up and running for me. Anyone that is still having problems and/or cannot log into their cPanel, file a support ticket with Xisto. They know how to fix the problem are able to do it very quickly.
-
I'm in the process of getting the support team to fix my problem. I sent in a ticket, and the support team responded, but they were still trying to figure out what the problem was, so no work has been done on my account yet as far as getting into cPanel is concerned. I specifically mentioned to only use a solution that would not delete my files though, so hopefully they can work around that. I have all of my files backed up on my computer except for my news articles and episode reviews I publish using Cutenews. After I get those important Cutenews files, they can do whatever they need to do with my account, even if it means erasing it and starting anew ... hopefully it will not come to that though. Keep me updated on everyone else's situations and solutions.
-
I'm getting the "login attempt failed" message as well. It just seems like cPanel isn't recognizing the data we're filling in, much like the problem yesterday on the forum. It recognized that I existed, but would not accept my log in information. Is it possible that whatever was done to fix the forums and be done to cPanel to fix that problem as well? Why is it that some people are able to access their cPanel accounts? Where their passwords not changed and those who cannot access it had their passwords changed? A little information about this issue would be much appreciated because at the moment, my website is being displayed properly, but I don't have any access to the files.
-
Yeah, this really is a serious issue. If we are still not able to log into cPanel, does that mean our passwords have been changed, and if so, are we required to take the 10 credit penalty for changing the password? I currently don't have 10 spare credits to change my password, so therefore, I'm without access to my cPanel. Could you PM me what Xisto changed my password to when restoring all of the hosted sites so I won't suffere the ten credit penalty? I appreciate the work all of you are doing to try and restore everything back to normal. I know it cannot be an easy task. Yesterday, I lost access to everything, and I was very frightened that I had lost all of the time consuming work I had recently done for my site. I contacted the support team and got no response from them. I was really frustrated because I had no idea what was going on. In the future, it would be much appreciated if Xisto could make their members aware of issues shortly after they occur so members don't think their accounts are deleted, banned, etc. I know that's what I was thinking, and I was really upset. Hopefully all of these issues will be resolved shortly.

What annoys me the most about CDs is probably the fact that they can wear out. If you play them enough (which would have to be a lot a lot a lot of times), CD players will no longer be able to read the disc. And that's where a computer can be a lifesaver. Anytime you get a CD, back your songs up on the computer because CDs do get damaged, which is another one of my annoyances with them. CDs can become damaged so easily. One fumble when putting the disc in its case or CD player and then its scratch, and the song is never the same again. It's a shame. CDs really need a more protective coating on them if they're going to stay in the fight verse digital music files. Another thing that annoys me about CDs is the fact that if you start a song in the CD player, it does not start the song from where you left off. Instead, it restarts from the beginning of the entire album. It's a bit of a pain, but I can see how that wouldn't annoy everyone. Under these circumstances, you can clearly see that CDs are worse than digital music files. CDs take up a lot more physical space to store where as digital music files only take up room on your harddrive, meaning no physical space is needed. Digital music files also allow you the option of choosing which songs you would like to purchase. I'm pretty sure everyone has a CD with at least one or two songs they could care less about. With digital music files, you can select which songs you want to purchase, allowing you to spend your money more conservatively and also purchase songs that you would not have bought if you had to purchase the entire album. Sorry if my rant about my annoyances with CDs was too long. Hopefully it will be able to spark some discussion within this thread and earn folks some more credits.

I do not think racism will ever fade away. I think it is a natural part of human beings ... to find fault with those that are different from you. It is an awful fact, but it is true. While racism can never be cured, I do think it can be more sugar-coated. White folks, particularly Americans, seem to be the most racist. They don't seem to be very accepting of other religions, customs, beliefs, etc, which is mighty strange since America is a melting pot in itself. Racism has decreased a lot in the states with slavery being illegal, but there are folks who still are fighting to bring slavery back. Children can be taught to accept other cultures, but racism will always be there. It is in a person's natural instincts to be better than everyone else, and that is what white man has done over the past centuries.

Colors In Foods Have Different Health Purposes
disneyreporter replied to bishoujo's topic in Health & Fitness
That is interesting. I had never heard of any of that before, but I guess it does make logical sense. The colors of fruits and vegetables have to be spurred by some type of chemical/nutrient. So if blueberries, blackberries, and grapes are all the same color, it would make perfectly logical sense for them to contain the same chemicals/nutrients and therefore provide nutritional value for the same part of the body. What I'm now wondering is if taste and/or texture of the fruit or vegetable has anything to do with what body parts receive the most benefit from that specific food. I'm guessing you could easily find similiarites between fruits and vegetables by comparing any physical feature. -
My brother responding again: Thanks for the comments! I'm a squirt major going into peewee minor. I played on a select team, so the competition was a lot tougher than the regular town leagues. I've been playing hockey for a few years, since I was about six years old. The reason I became a goalie was because I couldn't skate well, but after all of the intense training, I have become a great skater. Goalie is such an exciting position. My dad thinks I'll be playing for the NHL someday. He's hoping I get a fullride scholarship. I'd love to go to Boston College and someday play for the Vancouver Canucks.

Basing your nominee on the number of delegates you have is so stupid. Most of the states Obama won go Republican in the General Election. A lot of good that's going to do him in November. Most of the states Hillary won on the otherhand go Democratic in the General Election. She also won the key battleground states. Is that saying anything? I really feel like there is too much wait in delegates, especially when the super delegates are using their power irresponsibly, not voting for who they think would be the best but instead who will end the race sooner. That's wrong. I feel the only good chance Obama stands in winning is if Hillary runs as his VP, which is fine because Hillary will then become President when Obama is eventually shot by extremists. A larger percentage of Hillary supporters would rather vote for McCain than Obama. He can't win without her help. Right now, she holds a lot of power. She can trash him and not be his VP, assuring McCain wins, or she can help him out and assure a win for the Democratic Party. Personally, I think the Democratic National Committee is going to push Obama to ask Hillary to be his VP. While they haven't been showing it, they must know that he doesn't stand a chance. I laugh when Obama said the other day when he said he thought he had a good chance of winning Nevada, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania against McCain. haha ... Too bad Hillary Clinton won all three of those states in the primaries. I swear, the head honchos of the Democratic Party are complete idiots and do not have the best interests of the party in mind.* Great job Hillary on winning South Dakota -- a state that she wasn't expected to win. Did anyone else notice that Obama won all of the states surrounding South Dakota? Kind of weird, huh?

This is my younger brother posting about his hockey team's statistics for the season: My games have been challenging as a goaltender for the New England Moose. My dad says I am one of the best goalies in the league. I have made many saves throughout my career. My best save of the season was a breakaway three on zero and I stoned the kids with a butterfly slide. My goals against average is 3.2083. I used to have a 2.0349 goals against average, but I had a really bad game where the score was fifteen to six. I think it because my team stayed up all night at a hotel until one in the morning and I had a full rack of ribs before the game. My regular season record was eighteen and six, and that was one of the best records I have had. Our team was in second place and the playoffs came. The first game was when I played good and we won seven to three. The second game I played tremendous. It was in the third period with twenty seconds to go in the game. The other team had a breakaway on me and they shot the puck. I swung my glove up and made a fantastic glove save with six seconds to go. Finally our team had won two to one in the round robin. Our team had made it to the semifinals, and we were facing the Bridgewater Bandits. Our team played pretty well and won two to one. We had made it to the champion game in the Eastern Hockey Confederation. My team making it to the championship game against the Minuteman Flames was an amazing upset on our league. No one thought we would make it that far. Our team had lost six to nothing in the championship game, but we still had a fun time playing.

What's Your Favorite Kind Of Food?
disneyreporter replied to ElBandoneonWEbsite's topic in Health & Fitness
This is my younger brother posting about his favorite food: My favorite type of food is probably fast food. Fast food is more convenient, especially for a busy family, because you receive your meals faster and don't not have to waste valuable time preparing the food. My favorite fast food restaurant is Wendy's. Wendy's has the best chicken nuggets and fries, in my opinion, making it my favorite. The fries are not too salty, nor are they too plain. A perfect combination. Their chicken nuggets are best with honey mustard sauce. Their service is quick and speedy for the most part, and while the food isn't the healthiest, it allows me to spend my time doing the many activities I participate in. God bless fast food! -
I wouldn't say I'm addicted to the computer. I use it a lot, a couple of hours every day, because I enjoy it. I need to use it anyhow for school work and running a website, but in the event that I can't use the computer for a couple of days, I'm able to go without it easy enough. I think its fine to be addicted to something as long as it doesn't interfere with you performing the daily functions necessary to stay healthy and successful. If the computer is keeping you from having a real-world personal life or preventing you from getting necessary household chores and job-related duties done, well, then you might have a problem. Just keep your computer addiction under control, and you should be alright. The computer is a great tool, connecting people all around the world. You may have tons of internet buddies, but it doesn't substitute for the real thing. Try taking a break from the computer for a day or so, or maybe minimize the amount of time you're on it. Some people don't have that option because their jobs require them to be on the computer, but if you can, try it. The computer can cause a lot of health problems, particularly vision, if you overuse it. Put your health first.

Why Hate On Vista? What turns you away from it?
disneyreporter replied to chriscannon's topic in Operating Systems
I have to agree with you guys on this. While I've never used Vista before (I want to, but I just got a new computer with XP on it last summer), I think it all comes down to changing to a new interface that you're not familiar with. A lot of people like more sudtle changes. Vista looks quite a bit different than XP. I think if Vista looked more similar to XP, XP users would have an easier time adjusting because it would look more familiar to them. It's often hard to change to something else when you get so attached to what you currently have. When my mom got a new car, I hated it. I was so attached to the old one, I didn't want to see it leave. But after two years, I actually like my mom's current car. It just took a while for me to get over the fact that the new one wasn't the old one and never would be. The same will happen with XP users. Give it a couple of years and everyone will be loving Vista while XP will look so primative. -
The Best Browser In Your Opinion for WIN32/64 systems
disneyreporter replied to jacob's topic in Software
I use Internet Explorer 7, and I love it. It's a much needed improvement over Internet Explorer 6, user interface wise anyhow. I've heard people complain a lot about it, saying a lot of websites are not viewed correctly when using Internet Explorer 7. I've never had the problem and really don't understand how this issue could occur. Can anyone explain more about this and how each web browser displays website pages differently? -
Thanks for the assistance. I just had a similar problem. A few months ago, my Cpanel page was version 2, but somehow it got upgraded to version 3, so the link was changed, with the old link no longer in existance. I didn't know about the change until I logged in by going through the http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. So, thanks again for your help. You guys are lifesavers.

Daddy Long Legs Did You Know its most poisonous
disneyreporter replied to devildude93's topic in General Discussion
I remember reading somewhere that the average human beings swallows five to six spiders each year during their sleep. The spiders just crawl right in. (I hope I don't sleep with my mouth wide open. lol) Some people don't even consider daddy long legs as spiders because they don't look like your typical spider. Most spiders have fur on their legs, and you can see all of the eyes on its head. It really creeps me out. If I see a spider, I tend to steer clear of it or squish it. Where daddy long legs are so thin, they're almost hard to see. I don't recall, but are daddy long legs' legs set up like water bugs' legs where the knees bend the opposite way a human knee bends? -
Who Is The Hottest Girl In The World? Hottest girl ever?
disneyreporter replied to nosoup4u's topic in General Discussion
I'd have to go with Shakira. You can't get any better than that naturally. -
How can you say that? She's a great singer! And have you seen the stuff she's done for humanitarian causes? She has an organization (Pies Descalzos) that she established when she was 18 (well before she was famous). It provides underprivliged children with an education. She's also the Global Ambassador to UNICEF (run by the United Nations), and travels all over the world to disaster scenes, trying to help them rebuild. Get to know who a person is first before saying you hate them.
-
What's so wrong about that? She has some great lyrics that powerful and moving, some of which even address political issues throughout the world. I suggest you try looking at the lyrics from some of her other songs (not Hips Don't Lie) to get an idea of what I'm talking about.
