  1. I actually tried audacity, but for some reason everything I recorded was so full of static that I could not understand anything! Are microphones that are built into laptops just crummy? I am wondering if it is the microphone and not the program since you say its so good. Darn. I can't really fix my microphone.
  2. Wasn't it catchy? It made me come right in! I agree with you- I am definitely not going to visit those links, especially the one about poop!
  3. Aww, Apple was not a choice! Oh well. I use an apple snow ibook and I really love it (it's an old G3 from early 2003- ancient to the new ones)
  4. It looks like I am one of the only people here who uses a mac! This is kind of a bragging thread for those who have really good computers, now isn't it? Ok, here goes my pathetic computer features:Apple iBook G3 (bought in Jan 2003)14" screenColor: snowMemory: 640 MBProcessor: 800 MHz PowerPC G3Mac OS X Version 10.2.8ACS5 Computer Speakers (ALTEC LANSING MULTIMEDIA)Kensington laser mouseEpson Stylus C86 PrinterI actually love my computer because it's fast, portable, fun to use and sleek.
  5. I don't have any Gigs, unfortunately, but I do have 37.25 gigaBYTES, of which I am currently using 18.57. I was using up a lot more than that, but I basically deleted most of my itunes on the hard drive and backed them up on discs and they are on my ipod.
  6. Well, I use an ibook, so I will put my top five favorite programs that I use on my ibook!!1. iTunes. iTunes is awesome because you can organize all your music and download music. I like the way it makes using music files so easy.2. iPhoto. iPhoto is an excellent was to organize your photos. You can make different albums and view your photos all at once or one at a time for editing. It makes it very easy to upload photos (plug a camera in and the program pops up, ready for upload) and easy to share photos (post to your website or send via e-mail).3. Tie: Firefox/Safari. These internet browsers rock. They are both very fast and efficient and make surfing the web a breeze.4. iCalander. It helps keep me organized and sane!5. Word. I just love this word processor!
  7. You are awesome for taking the time for such a great tutorial for newbies. I really appreciate all the great tips!!
  8. Thanks for the idea- the hands-on idea sounds like a very good way to learn how scripts work and such. Thanks a lot for the advice everyone!
  9. Thanks for the advice! I am new to all of this so any advice is greatly appreciated. Working with graphics is kind of scary to me because it's new and I have no idea how to do it, so thanks!
  10. So those with more than one monitor basically use them for graphic design and things like that? That actually sounds very neat. Thanks for explaining the video card thing to me!
  11. Cute banner. I would make the rocket go much faster because the rocket kind of crawls accross, making you wonder how long this animation is going to take... and then nothing happens. I agree that something should happen, like something blowing up, like other people have suggested. I like the little people who pop up in the end! So cute!
  12. I personally do not think it tells much about your company. It is very wide like a banner, and that does not seem very advantageous to the company. I think the design needs to be much more compact and much simpler. It just does not tell me much about your company. It is neat looking, but it does not look like a logo.
  13. Unfortunately there is no real way to prevent people from taking images no matter what you do. People will always find a way to take them illegally. Maybe your husband should put copyright watermarks on the photos/pictures/graphics that he wants to claim as his own, but probably some known how to reconstruct the photo, so I do not really know what to tell you.
  14. I am a newbie too and was wondering the same thing. I am glad that the established members have such good things to say about Xisto- it builds my confidence in the web site. Thanks for the input! It certainly helped me!
  15. What I do is open up the radio station in iTunes and then I leave the program on all night and click on it during the day whenever I want to listen to the radio station. You can use certain programs to record songs you like from the radio and then convert them to mp3 format so that you can play it on your mp3 player.
  16. I think that is a wonderful idea! Probably there are a scarce amount of web savvy oboe players out there and you will be the first to make a decent site! I would go ahead with it. It will make you and fellow oboe players very happy.
  17. Those are some great tips on what to look for when purchasing a computer because it can be overwhelming to some when they shop for a computer. Also, I would not buy a computer online if you are not familiar with "technical" computer terms like RAM, ROM, pixels, etc. It is better to have someone explain everything to you if you are not sure. Also, it is a good idea not to overbuy. For example, if you don't plan to be a photographer or do graphic design, don't get a top-of-the-line monitor when a cheaper one will do for just playing games, word processing, and the internet.
  18. That's a good point, it very well could be a virus. Do you have an anti-virus program on your computer to help stop viruses from infecting your computer? Norton Anti-Virus is a good program for Windows and I use Virex, which works very well.
  19. If you see a layout you like you can actually just take thier code and alter it to your liking (customize it to your tastes). The only problem I have with myspace is how sloooow the site is. I guess it is because so many people are on the site at one time! But UGH it's slow!
  20. Isn't that the shoe that costs more than $200 a pair? I think that is ridiculous and a waste of money, in my own opinion. I think that money could be spent on better things. I have no idea why anyone would need something so extravagent. It's a neat idea, but I would never spend that much money on a pair of shoes no matter how technologically advanced they are! Heck, I won't spend more than $30 on a pair of shoes!
  21. I took a course on Classical Greece and was fascinated by the different points of view that the Greek philosophers had, particularly Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato. Which Greek philosopher do you most agree with, and why do you personally think that this philosopher was closest to the truth? Or, which philosopher confused you? Which philosopher made you think?
  22. I was baptised and confirmed Catholic, but I do not really relate to the religion. I consider myself a nondenominational Christian because I believe that organized religion tends to get in the way of what the true teachings of the bible say. I believe that grace is given by God and that all you have to do is accept it- you do not do anything in order to obtain salvation. I believe that people have certain jobs in heaven based on what they have done on earth.
  23. I don't know of any free photo editors that are good, unfortunately. I think Paint Shop Pro gives a thirty day free trial if you want to try that: http://www.corel.com/en/ I actually liked PSP when I used it. There are some free photo programs at downloads.com, but I do not think they are very good. I wish there were good photo programs out there that were free, but unfortunately I don't think there are any. Photoshop is around $80, so you might try that. iPhoto is good for simple things like cropping, getting rid of red eye, and converting to black and white.
  24. Thanks for the tutorial! I have always wondered how to do those icons and I never knew what they were called! I've seen those used a lot and I've always liked them. Thanks!
  25. What are some good books that teach professional web design? I do not mean books that just tell you how to use html codes and frames and such, I mean books that teach you how to do great graphic designs and scripts and things like that. I want to learn how to make professional web sites. Does anyone have any suggestions on good books that I can read in order to learn how to do this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Notice from vizskywalker: Moved from tutorials. Tutorials is only for posting self-made tutorials, not for requesting them.
