http://forums.xisto.com i am rewriting my layout in divs instead of tables. the problem i have, is i need the divs with the "L" and "R" in them to extend all the way down to the bottom of the "content" div. also, what do i need to do to center the entire thing on the webpage? and it appears as though the top center div extends down into the middle div by like... maybe 5 px... is this just an illusion or is it really happening? this is the source html for the page: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC"-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN""http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ xmlns="http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/; xml:lang="en" lang="en"><head><title>Div Practice</title><style type="text/css">.wrapper{margin: 0px; padding: 0px; clear: left;}.topLeftCorner{margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: left; height: 100px; clear: left; background-color: #000000;}.topCenterBanner{margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: left; height: 100px; background-color:#0000FF;}.topRightCorner{margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: left; height: 100px; clear: right; background-color: #000000;}.sideLeft{margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: left; height: 100%; clear: left; background-color: #666666;}.mainCenterContent{margin: 0px; padding: 8px; float: left; height: 100%; background-color: #000099;}.sideRight{margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: left; height: 100%; clear: right; background-color: #666666;}.bottomLeftCorner{margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: left; height: 50px; clear: left; background-color: #CCCCCC;}.bottomCenter{margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: left; height: 50px; background-color: #000033;}.bottomRightCorner{margin: 0px; padding: 0px; float: left; height: 50px; clear: right; background-color: #CCCCCC;}</style></head><body><div style="width: 800px;" class="wrapper"> <div style="width: 800px;" class="wrapper"> <div style="width: 50px;" class="topLeftCorner"></div> <div style="width: 700px;" class="topCenterBanner"></div> <div style="width: 50px;" class="topRightCorner"></div> </div> <div style="width: 800px;" class="wrapper"> <div style="width: 50px" class="sideLeft">L</div> <div style="width: 684px;" class="mainCenterContent">Content<br/><br/><br/></div> <div style="width: 50px;" class="sideRight">R</div> </div> <div style="width: 800px;" class="wrapper"> <div style="width: 50px;" class="bottomLeftCorner"></div> <div style="width: 700px;" class="bottomCenter"></div> <div style="width: 50px;" class="bottomRightCorner"></div> </div></div></body></html>

I probably could've gone there, but it would've been thousands of miles away and tons of money.Even if you don't get in/can't afford it, theres a lot of other good computer schools in america, and in the long run i dunno if a MIT education would offset the student loans vs. a degree from another decent school that costs lest.

bah. yea it says right at the top of the page it is part of PECL... that would be the problem.thank you for figuring out what my absent-mindedness could not

i am writing a script, and whenever i use this line http_redirect("process.cgi");i get a call to undefined function error for http_redirect(). maybe i am misunderstanding what this function is used for..... when i call it, it will take the user to the page indicated... in my case "process.cgi" that was my interpretation of it from the page in the php manual. i am running xampp for windows and php 5.2.1

eat something with some substance.only toast and fruit, even if it is whole grain, is nothing but carbs.... it will cause your blood sugar to sky rocket and then an hour later it crashes... which is why you are hungry an hour later.Try making sure you get carbs, fat, and protein.... every single person needs all 3 at every meal and don't let anyone tell you anything else.personally, i think eggs or egg whites are about the best breakfast food there is... maybe a couple eggs and a slice of toast would suit you better at breakfast.diets that cut out all of the fat or all of the carbs will hardly ever be succesful. For starters, your cravings for the food source you eliminate will grow unbearable, and second of all your body uses carbs, fats, and proteins for essential things neither of the other two can provide, which makes it very very hard on your body.and when you're at your age, you dont wanna starve yourself, you'll regret it when you're older and you stunted your growth.

Why Do Alot Of People Hate Windows Vista?
awesomebill61 replied to XtothaZ's topic in Operating Systems
i have vista and i changed my default internet browser to firefox.... no problem i never notice any problems with vista not being fast either... but my computer has a 5.4 vista experience score so it should do pretty good. and as for security flaws, windows is attacked far more than any other OS.... mac has what? 5% market share? and linux distros arent even over 1%? that leaves well over 90% of the population using windows computers.... which means for every 1 person who tries to exploit flaws in a mac theres 100 people trying to exploit flaws in windows. i'm sure OS X has just as many flaws as vista, theres just nobody who exploits them. and from a performance standpoint, SP1 supposedly really really improves vista's performance. -

High School Hierarchy And Drama... So much draaaaaamaaaaa
awesomebill61 replied to Reekun's topic in General Discussion
i am the most academically succesful kid in my senior class. Highest ACT score. #1 class ranking, 4.0 student.... and most people love me. No one would consider me a nerd. I work out and i study.... i try to have a balance in my life.over my 4 years of high school, i've changed my viewpoint on nerds to that they are not smart people, but rather people with sub-par communication skills.... there are plenty of people in the world who are very very smart, yet still personable and able to communicate.but, the stuff you wrote about doing stuff just to fit in is right. Girls like me, they flirt with me, go crazy when they see me, hug me, etc... but the only ones that i can ever hook up with are the new ones... just because they don't see it as the status quo not to hook up with me... how that became the status quo i'll never know.....its all over in 4 months anyways. -
iv'e decided to wait until i finish what im workin on in php right now to start java..... don't want to get too much on my plate.but that's what pretty much everyone says... once you learn one OOP language the rest come easy.

good job man i went thru something similar. about two years ago, i just started feeling like i was being treated as a second class person because of my weight, so i decided enough talk and went on a hardcore diet... i dropped about 60 lbs in 9 months. But i went to far... people told me i looked bony and pale.... i was pretty much anorexic. now, almost two years after my initial weight loss began, my net loss is somewhere between 30-40 lbs, and i look just as healthy as ever (most of the weight gained in the last year was muscle). I still struggle some with not obsessing over what i eat and falling back into anorexia, but i'm doin alright. good job though man, people don't realize how much being overweight as a child changes your life. and the key to staying fit is making lifelong changes, and not going back to your old self once you've reached your goal.

I didn't know where to post this..... this category seemed about as good a fit as there was.on most webservers (my trap 17 one included), there is a public_html folder and a www folder, anything uploaded into one also gets put in the other.so i am wondering what is the point of both of these folders?can someone tell me why each one exists?

What Should Be A Balanced Diet For A Gym Going Person
awesomebill61 replied to shadab's topic in Health & Fitness
not true if you did any kind of weight or resistance training, or probably even if you didn't you want to get something after you work out- something high in protein something like a lean meat, cottage chese, or anything with a lot of protein i usually have a protein shake but thats a personal preference. to the OP: a lot of people who are trying to lean out (lose fat, gain muscle) will eat a 40-40-20 diet, where 40% of their calories are protein, 40% carbs, and 20% fats.... but thats just one small part of gaining muscle and leaning out its a lot more complex than that... theres a lot of information on the internet if you're lookin to learn about fitness & nutrition -
yea, i had seen that page before, but it didn't really clarify much for me... and calling php_info(), they both return the same value every time. and also, i answered my own question... i just added this block of code inside my form to re-set all of the values: foreach($_GET as $key => $value){ echo "<input type=\"hidden\" name=\"$key\" value=\"$value\" />\n";};

Boast Your Computers Specs., Feel Free To Brag
awesomebill61 replied to iibbssee's topic in Hardware Workshop
wow i have the best computer in this topic so far... even my old one holds its own here lol i'll probably have to live with this one for a long long time once i get into college though. oh yea, and i kinda want new monitors.... an old 19 inch crt out of a warehouse and a 17 inch compaq crt aren't the best lol but they get the job done -
okay, so i have a form on a php script i am working on, and i want the form to submit to the page it is on... echo "<form action=\"" . $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] . "\" method=\"GET\"> \n";so say the page it loads on is something like index.php?page=article&id=8 when i submit the form, it ignores the query string and just goes back to index.php i tried something like $action = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] . "?" . $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'];echo "<center><br/>\n<form action=\"" . $action . "\" method=\"GET\"> \n";or $action = $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'] . "?" . $_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'];echo "<form action=\"" . $action . "\" method=\"GET\"> \n"; is there anyway around this still using a form? if not, i could just list the form options as hyperlinks and pass the variable on through that, or i could just have the website reload to the home page whenever someone updates the theme. also, a question of curiosity, what is the difference between $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] and $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME']?

this is probably one of my favorite series of games.i've been playing them since the first one came out... got most of the expansions and i've downloaded a lot of user created scenery for the 3rd game.I like them all... the first one had a special magic to it that the 2nd and 3rd have never achieved, but the 2nd version improved upon the first.... weird how that worksthe 3rd one well it has its quirks but it also has a lot of upsides too but my computer is pretty powerful so i can run it.sadly i don't think we'll ever see a 4th version theres a lot of legal red tape from what ive read on some rct fan forums... its a shame too -
that makes sense... i also feel like a book would be easier to learn from because it has to be written to teach well enough that people will buy it.... i would hope. so then, the question that lends itself to be next... what is a good java book?
-
does anyone know of any good websites with free java tutorials for people without a lot of prior coding experience?i've read some tutorials, but every one i read starts making references to C and C++... well i don't know either of those so it gets really really confusing really really fast.ive downloaded the sdk but that is it....i know a pretty good amount of php and a tiny bit of perl but those are procedural languages so i dont know if they even helpe me at all with an OOP language like java.

thank you, i'll have to keep that host in mind, and this does seem like a very large and helpful forum. i'm from south dakota... kind of the middle of nowhere lol
