  1. AlterEngine MMO engine that lets you edit and create a new world. Just run the server and distribute the game client, it's simple to use and effective for non commercial MMOs. It's mother language is spanish, so unless you know spanish, I wouldn't recommend this. This Engine doesn't require much Programming Experience. vbGORE Great MMO Engine, very powerful. Runs with VB6, fully editable. It's free and open source. It can achieve great things if you have the time and potential to script neat VB6 functions with Packet related coding and knowledge about Bytes and stuff like that. You can use the examples at the developer's homepage to customize your engine. Completely Open Source. If you want to find this Engines, just search them up in Google. I hope someone finds some use for this, enjoy. =]
  2. The Chupa Cabras are not real, or at least they are not as they are displayed in public.I live in Puerto Rico, and I'm pretty sure that most of the reported accidents were caused by bats or people trying to get attention.I've seen plenty of news related to the Chupa Cabras, I don't entirely believe them because if something like that really existed, then the government would do its best to hide it, as they do with many things. My opinion is that most of the reports are fake, and that would explain the slight differences in the shape and looks of the Chupa Cabra itself from report to report.
  3. This is the basic idea I had, the only problem is that making 3D games is out of my reach... By far.I will research even further for 3D games thought, maybe I can implement some concepts in 3D...
  4. Basically, I want to know if the Data I'm inserting through a Form is already there or not. Sort of a Username registration page. I have this, but it doesn't appear to work... $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username='$username'");if($result == 1) { echo '<h1>ERROR!</h1>The username you have chosen already exists!'; }
  5. Great! You see, after I read this I questioned myself if this could be used to create new pages on a website, apparently, it is possible. For example, you have a member register for your site, lets say a Blog site, and when they confirm the account a new page will be written and saved to be used as his "Blog Page".I'm not sure if this is the most efficient way to do this or not, but it might just work.
  6. Ah, thanks for the replies.I was just trying to figure out what language to use, guess I'll stick to PHP.Thanks again.
  7. I would like to get some information before launching myself to the JS libraries. Is it possible to load maps or images and with the press of a button "scroll" or move the image inside some kind of window up, down, left or right? It would be like scrolling an image sideways, upwards or downwards.I would also like to know if multiple connections can be made and lets say there was a user standing in the location (127, 160) of the map, would there be the possibility of loading the image of that player? Maybe with database connections and storing their information there? Is JS compatible with MySQL?I appreciate any help regarding this matter in advanced. =]
  8. Ah, that sounds excellent! So the filename would be "name.html" then, right? Also, if the HTML document is possible to create, that means that I could create PHP scripts also?
  9. Actually, believe it or not, the only part I "copied" from a game was the War game. The rest, I actually thought it up with no reference to any game I know whatsoever. I wouldn't doubt that I heard some of those ideas commented over the net some time ago and they were in my subconscious. I'm not aware of copying any games (except war game). That MMO "Enthropia" seems neat, but since mine isn't going to be made with an MMO Engine, only with browser based languages, it's not really copying.
  10. Part of this could be true, specially the first paragraph. On the second one I have to add that my parents are currently having a "good" communication with her. They probably reach her the most, except for her boyfriend, which she (I'm assuming) would trust more than my parents. On the "suicide" note, she never tried to suicide. She probably wanted attention, or just tried to do what her "friends" do when they get depressed or in a tight situation (most of them are not really friends, at least I wouldn't consider a friend someone who tells you how to harm yourself). Thankfully, the most she will be ashamed of is the scar from her cut(s), when she grows out of this of course (I hope thats what she will regret the most, I can't imagine what else she could regret more than that right now). At Liam: Hopefully it will pass sooner or later. Thanks for the support guys, it REALLY has helped. =]
  11. Oh my. I hadn't seen a game like that before. O_O Now, that game crushed my game idea into pieces. I think I'll go through anyways. If it's not popular, at least it will be fun making it. =P Even if it won't be competition for that MMO... Mine is Web Based and doesn't require computer specifications like the ones that game needs. Thanks for letting me know anyways. X_X Oh, sorry about that! I didn't make my self clear. The war part would be something like a game in the site. It's not going to be all about wars, but you will have the option to play a war game with your friends or foes. Sort of like Advanced Wars for the Gameboy Advanced. A tactical game, as you might now.
  12. Nice guide.I do have a question thought, could I utilize those commands to write in a HTML file instead of a text file? For example:Every time a user creates a form (could be a registration) a new HTML document is created, written with the Form Contents the user just filled and then closed inside a specific folder. Is this possible with this command, or are there different commands to write in different types of documents? Thanks in advanced!
  13. The $_GET example isn't really clear... at all.I'm not sure how to use it, so if anyone wouldn't mind explaining, I would greatly appreciate it. =]Oh, I would also like to add that I read somewhere that some $_GET commands can be dangerous because people can inject Javascript snippets to steal cookies or bother people.
  14. Thanks for this tutorial! I'm just starting with MySQL, and I actually understood everything. Great job! EDIT: Never mind that last question, found the answer. Another question thought, I'm getting this error when I run the script (after correcting all the other errors): All my problems seem to be with that command. Any help?
  15. Well, the main objective will be to achieve a high economical status and adquire plenty of properties and currency to sell for real cash... but as secondary objective there will be the Web Based MMORPG system, which is to level up, defeat bosses, party and do quests, fight your friends or foes, compete, etc.
  16. Before you start investing to create a business for Web Design, make yourself famous around the net. You could start your own website showing off some designs of your own. Remember, original custom art work is what makes designs special. The best thing for you to do is join different Design communities where people request web designs. Mark yourself with good reputations around the communities and start advertising your sites. You can also make free layouts for Social Networks such as MySpace, etc. and add the URL to your website somewhere around the layout. You can also do this for interactive communities such as different gaming sites that have Personal Profiles.Try entering in competitions, and if you win, you'll get some reputation around. After you have the right reputation, start advertising in your website your paid services and the advantages they have. Usually, when a website is starting the user might hire a web designer to create a neat layout, so it would be a good idea to hang around communities that help people starting web developing and showcase your designs there.Hope it helps you for something.
  17. Oh my. First of all I would like to thank you all for the replies in such a short amount of time. She actually went to see a psychologist for 4 weeks. I don't think that did any difference.I'm in a military academy, so is she. What I noticed that really helped was the support and caring our Colonel has for her. He's like part of our family. She started getting better and changed her behavior during last year's December. We really were glad about it. But something happened this year that after the 4th of January she started acting all weird again. My dad snapped out at the moment because she really has pushed our family's sanity to the limit. They are all right at the moment.About the picture album, well she has pictures of her all over her room. The issue is that she thinks she is in a better state than she was before, I have no idea why.Currently she has a boyfriend which is very supporting and is trying to help her get her life straight again. He is currently in a rock band, and he puts a good name for the rockers.I just realized that it might be just a situation that only time will heal. Everyone in the family is trying his/her best at helping her out and teaching her that there's no problem if she likes that stereotype and dresses like that, but that she needs to learn how to adapt her behaviour depending on the situation. I feel like she's slowly progressing. Thanks for all your advises and support, it really has helped me figure out some things.
  18. Oh, this is great. It's far shorter than the PHP script I did for sending feedbacks, and it doesn't take two different pages. Thanks for this, the only thing I'd have to add is a security feature to avoid bulk spams. =]
  19. The idea is basically a Web Based game that the main purpose is to obtain great economical power. You have the option to create malls, shops and even houses to sell or live in. This properties will be located in a Web Based MMORPG where users can travel the lands adquiring levels, defeating bosses and obtaining rare treasures. There will be about 4 different classes to choose from and plenty of quests. You can battle your friends or foes with your army in a Modern or Medieval standard in a turn based combat system. If you don't like going around the MMO you can always access non-MMO stores which contain multiple items for your entertainment. Now, as you can see the game will be divided between the MMO world and the web site world. You can interlace both to create a unique experience or just play any of those two.As you grow in power through business, you can sell your properties for cash to other users and make a real profit out of your long hours spent in the game. There are many ideas I'm leaving out so it doesn't just give away the whole plan. The question, would you play something similar to this but with more freedom (as in creating custom products for your company, etc.)?
  20. I just did this HTTP Wrapper. It uses cURL to make HTTP requests, which can be very handy to emulate human browsing behavior. Also, some of you might find this very handy and it could help you understand something about PHP from the examples I'm going to to give. Heres the Wrapper, you need to save this as HTTPWrapper.class.php in Notepad or any PHP editor you have. <?php//Created by GaiaZone//Also known as Riddledefine("USERAGENT", "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.8.1.2) Gecko/20070219 Firefox/2.0.0.2");class HTTPWrapper { var $responseHeaders; var $responseBody; var $lastURL; var $lastErrorNum; var $lastError; var $ch; var $ts; var $totalTime; //Username and Password are for Sessions Login, if you're not going to Login anywhere, put anything there. function HTTPWrapper($username, $password) { $this->ch = curl_init(); $headers = array(); $headers[] = "Accept: text/xml,application/xml,application/xhtml+xml,text/html;q=0.9,text/plain;q=0.8,image/png,*/*;q=0.5"; $headers[] = "Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.5"; $headers[] = "Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7"; $headers[] = "Keep-Alive: 300"; $headers[] = "Connection: keep-alive"; curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, 1); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 1); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, CONNECT_TIMEOUT); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEFILE, COOKIE_PATH . $username . '.cookie'); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_COOKIEJAR, COOKIE_PATH . $username . '.cookie'); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_ENCODING, "gzip, deflate"); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, USERAGENT); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, $headers); $this->username = trim($username); $this->password = $password; $this->ts = 0; $this->totalTime = 0; } /** * The HTTP Proxy to use for the request * Use the format ip:port or hostname:port * * Example: * <code> * <?php * * // proxy using hostname * $Wrapper->SetProxy('proxyhost.tld:3128'); * * // proxy using I.P. address * $Wrapper->SetProxy('111.111.111.111:8080'); * * ?> * </code> * * @param string $proxy The proxy server to use */ function SetProxy($proxy) { curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_PROXY, $proxy); } /** * Remove the proxy set by a previous call to SetProxy * */ function ClearProxy() { curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_PROXY, ''); } /** * Set the User Agent to send in all requests * * @param string $userAgent The new user agent to use */ function SetUserAgent($userAgent) { curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, $userAgent); } function HttpGet($url, $referer = '') { $this->lastURL = $url; curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_HTTPGET, 1); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_REFERER, $referer); return $this->_request(); } function HttpPost($url, $postdata, $referer = '') { $this->lastURL = $url; curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $postdata); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($this->ch, CURLOPT_REFERER, $referer); return $this->_request(); } function StartTimer() { $this->ts = $this->microtime_float(); } /** * Stop the timer and get the time elapsed * * @return float */ function StopTimer() { $st = $this->microtime_float(); if ($this->ts == 0) return $this->totalTime = 0; return $this->totalTime = round($this->ts - $st, 2); } /** * Get the time taken from the timer * * @return float */ function GetTotalTime() { return $this->totalTime; } /** * Perform the request * * @access private * @return bool */ function _request() { $this->responseBody = ''; $this->responseHeaders = ''; $data = curl_exec( $this->ch ); if ($data === false) { $this->lastErrorNum = curl_errno($this->ch); $this->lastError = curl_error($this->ch); return false; } else { $this->lastErrorNum = 0; $this->lastError = ''; list($this->responseHeaders, $this->responseBody) = explode("\r\n\r\n", $data, 2); return true; } } /** * Get a timestamp w/ microseconds * Courtesy of php.net * * @access private * @return float */ function microtime_float() { list($usec, $sec) = explode(" ", microtime()); return ((float)$usec + (float)$sec); } } //Class end ?>You will find this very handy because you won't need to rewrite all that mumbojumbo every time you want to use sockets. How to use: In your PHP page (the one you're going to write down the script) you will have to include the HTTPWrapper.class.php file. <?phpinclude 'HTTPWrapper.class.php';?>After you include the class file, you can use all the functions in it without having to write them again. I'd like to explain how to use it now by making a sample script that will visit Google and search for the word "Cheese". First of all we start our PHP script in the Body of the webpage and we tell PHP that we are naming the variable $Wrapper as a new HTTPWrapper like this: <?php$user='Google'; //If you don't need a username like in this example, just put anything.$pass='anything'; //same with the pass.$Wrapper = new HTTPWrapper($user, $pass);?>Now we have our HTTPWrapper ready to use. The first thing we want to do is "Get" to the Google Page. <?php$user='Google'; //If you don't need a username like in this example, just put anything.$pass='anything'; //same with the pass.$Wrapper = new HTTPWrapper($user, $pass); $Wrapper->HttpGet('google.com;; echo $Wrapper->responseBody;?>The code above will visit Google and print the html code into your page, allowing you to view the result of the Wrapper. This is very handy for debugging. Now you know how to use one of the vars. Once we are there, we want to search the word "Cheese". To make this easier, you should Packet Sniff your communication with the site, that way you know if you're POSTING or GETTING to the Website and the order of the Post data or the normal url. After verifying the search url, I came up with this: <?php$user='Google'; //If you don't need a username like in this example, just put anything.$pass='anything'; //same with the pass.$SearchWord='Cheese'; //What you're searching for.$Wrapper = new HTTPWrapper($user, $pass); $Wrapper->HttpGet('google.com;; $Wrapper->HttpGet('www.google.com/q=&%2339; . $SearchWord); echo $Wrapper->responseBody;?>The example above should now go to Google and search for "Cheese", then print the whole page's HTML into your .PHP page, letting you view your result. You can impovise plenty with this Wrapper, you just need to spend some time searching for other commands you can combine with this such as preg_match_all and plenty others. You can print data tables to your web page with information organized in different ways. PHP is truly a great language to learn. I hope this Wrapper is used for good. =]
  21. I didn't know Image Ready was that handy! That is way faster than the way I used to make the links in a image (Image maps of course).
  22. Well, technically speaking, being suicidal is not right, neither is being emo.But we should also understand that some people that live under certain circumstances (poberty, really bad ill conditions, no family or friends, etc.) don't really have anything worth of doing. They are just isolated individuals that literally have nothing. Thats when the suicidal mentality kicks in. Why would they want to keep suffering, working, stressing themselves for a better life style or whatever they want to achieve if they don't have the support of anyone or the love of a relative? There are cases that are completely the opposite. People with a good life style, a caring family, maybe even a wife or kids, think about suicide. Those individuals are the ones that wrong. They have something to fight for, unlike the other individual example. What I think about this kind of people is that they are extremely selfish. They are either not thinking correctly, or they focus everything around themselves and ignore the rest of the people that care about that individual. Especially if the individual has family. Most people don't think how much they are hurting their friends and family by just thinking of ending their lives. When most of them realize that they do have something to keep living for, they ignore the suicidal thoughts and resist them... usually. Now, on with the "emos". I have nothing against the lesser type of emos, the ones that only dress because they like the style or they are just into the music, but the real emos, the ones that cut... I really can't describe how I dislike that kind of behavior. I have nothing against the music, some of the dressing styles... but when it comes to cutting themselves just because they feel "rejected" or any other reason, thats where I stop liking them. There are many other ways to relief stress or hate than cutting. You could join a Jujitsu club and fight everyday. Believe me, that sure reliefs the hate building inside and the stress. Most emos that severely cut themselves end up thinking about suicide, or committing it.
  23. I've had a few OBEs before.I remember the first one, which was the scariest, I was reading some rituals from a website, which I cannot remember at the moment, to clear your spiritual path from negative forces. Part of the ritual was to imagine 5 Arch-Angels, this were your guardians. Later that night, I meditated for an unknown amount of time and slowly fell into a deeper state until I reached an OBE. As someone said before, the gravity was all messed up. I was lying in my bed still and I could feel my body sinking into the mattress. After a while of trying to stand up 5 figures, very bright figures appeared before me. Instantly I stood up and I was back in my body... shaking.I don't know if those were those "Arch-Angels" I called upon for the ritual, but they fit the description. After that experiences I tried to duplicate the OBE, only to be successful 3 or 4 times more. I have to say, it's an amazing experience.
  24. I have a sister, and it wasn't until the mid of last year that she started hanging out with some weird people that were a bad influence on her. She's only 14 right now.To help you understand my situation, I'll explain the whole story. My sister was a normal girl until she turned 14. Her favorite color was pink, she always wanted to look beautiful... you know, the normal barbie stereotype of person. She started hanging out with some of the seniors that were rockers. She started to get involucrated with that type of environment until she reached the "emo" area. Those guys were the real bad influence. She started getting depressed all the time, sticking scissors in her door, fighting with everyone and isolating herself from the family. One day she had a fight with my parents, which forbid her from going out, and left me in charge to keep an eye on her. That night she cut her wrist with one of her scissors. This might not seem such a big deal, but all this happened in a few months, which is a VERY short time span for such a drastic change. Before, she wore pink, dressed to impress and was very social... Now, she dresses like she's going to participate in a circus, all black or with unmatched colors and hangs out with the "emos" only. She has stopped talking to her old friends.Everything is an issue with her, I really don't know how to approach her anymore, every time I do, I end up getting screamed at. Everyone in the family is tired of this, it even got to a point that my dad said that she was not going to go out with the family until she started dressing like a girl and not a circus freak.Any suggestions?
