I am actually looking to start up a free web page that will stream live weather for each country. I know Xisto will allow me a free webhosting service but in the meantime is there anything out there that will allow hotlinking?

The only thing I can think of would be Zymic, although I'm not sure about hotlinking. Most hosts that are entirely free and require nothing in return are not that good, especially if you're going to be using a database (MySQL). They are better with flat-file sites.

Free... how? Even long before we had all the conveniences we have today, there were still governments and stuff. Think about the medievil times. Or even the wild west I think would be a good example.

I would take a look at the specs (and price) and help evaluate it, but there are many different models under each heading. Ex. "XPS 13" is a type of generation (I'm guessing 13"). We need the entire model number (would be like XPS 13-1934b or something like that).

It would help to know more about what type of business it is. There are tons of different types in the property field. Without knowing more, there's no way for anyone to help come up with names.

I sometimes wonder which is the most important to being able to get to sleep, being physically tired or mentally. I can work my rear off all day and be so tired I can't raise an eyebrow, but once in awhile I can't go to sleep. If my brain is cranking out lots of problems, there is just no way I can go to sleep. And I have noticed one other thing that drives me crazy. If I know that for some reason I have to get up early in the morning, I'm 10 times more likely to have trouble falling asleep. It's like I'm telling myself I need to get to sleep now so I won't be so tired, but then I suppose I get to worrying about whatever it is that I have to get up early about and that ends any chance of me getting to sleep. Drives me crazy.

Mental, for sure. Actually, even while you're sleeping you are thinking at full-speed, you just aren't aware of it (when you are, that's when you remember dreams, and when you aren't, you don't).

I'm the same way... if my brain is tired I'm good to go. If my body is, I just yawn a lot. The best case is when both happen!

Unfortunately for everyone involved, the XBOX one has tremendous pressure put on its little shoulders. I've been reading about how many are not happy about the Xbox One's looks or the fact that they don't believe Microsoft's promises, promises about enhanced performance and functionality considering the "problematic" history of the predecessor "Xbox 360"

 

The only way I can see Xbox one beating Playstation is through marketing. Considering how popular Play Station is, I am not sure how Xbox One will fare... Personally I wouldn't buy Xbox one unless I saw the console doing well in action

It will still sell well as long as it has exclusives. The Halo franchise is what keeps Microsoft's systems afloat, and Uncharted is what is keeping Sony's up, as far as I know. Playstation used to be defined by the Final Fantasy series, up until Microsoft started getting the games as well (and PC).

As long as there are games only one system has, people will keep buying those systems.

 

The monsoons this year have just started in India. Bing News India (from Windows 8) reports that the rain has started in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh would be seeing rain over the next two days. Salem, which Wikipedia describes as a place with scanty rainfall and dry weather, has torrential rains as reported by IBNLive.

I recall that the rains in Mumbai always cause overflooding as the city's drainage system has always been ill-equipped to deal with the regular rainfall that the city experiences every year. The open-drains in some parts of the city don't make it any better because the drainage water would be more likely to make it to the streets. The underpasses in Mumbai typically have water reaching right up to the ceiling so that's perhaps one time of the year that you could use a submersible or a submarine to get through.

There are some vehicles that have snorkels to deal with heavy rainfall and flooding to prevent water from entering the engine intakes and exhaust but there's still the problem of water entering the bearings and causing damage. Some times some of the belts loose traction and can get worn out as they slip over the pulleys. I imagine SUVs like the Hummer H1 are built to deal with flood waters to some extent.

 

Question: any idea why the city drainage system (in regards to your Mumbai statement) would still be inefficient if this is an ongoing problem? I'd think there is more damage caused by delaying than there would be to get it over with and do something to fix the issue.

 

Controlling Sleep...

Controlling sleep comes at a cost...The more times passes after you have slept, the more tired, dull etc. you feel, thereby decreasing your performance.

Indulge in your task and keep DISTRACTIONS away.

Use PowerNaps or Meditation to charge up at regular intervals.

Eat while you are indulged in your Work / Task to ensure you do not sleep.

Avoid things like Music while you are studying....

If you are spending time alone... on your Task. Use TV to feel some activity around you. If you are focussing on something... you might wanna put the TV on mute or very low volume.

Just before Sleeping, Distract yourSelf and DeStress! Else, you will Not Feel Fresh after you Wake up. Kind of defeats the entire purpose of staying awake.

Your Body is not a Wonder Machine, Controlling Sleep = just temporary Hyper Drive to Accomplish your Goals, you must compensate by adequate sleep later.

Controlling Sleep may cause mood swings...

 

This is all good advice! To add on, when sleeping is really difficult, there are usually medications you can take. The actual disorder is "insomnia," but you don't want to be reliant upon medications unless you truly have the disorder and really need the help.

 

Any other Mmos With No Levels and No Classes?

 

I think you would be hard-pressed to find them. Levels are integral to most games because it gives a sense of accomplishment.

In regards to "no classes," I would SORT of include Rift in this (riftgame.com). But that's because while it does have classes, they can fulfill all (well, most) roles (DPS, tanking, healing, support). So it's not classes in terms of "you chose this so all you can do is heal."

Also, there's Defiance, which has levels but they are irrelevant (low levels and high levels are really the same). And there is only one character but that's because the game is in line with the TV show so you're playing a somewhat live world.

I think... We should just assume "No Oil and Electricity" -> no resources - but ofcourse... there is farming going on - no one dies, just frustrated for few days and then finally all come back living down to earth.. riding horses and farming.

Riding horses and farming, lol. I live in the middle of nowhere, and most of my neighbors (because of where we are) have cows and horses. I guess the lifestyle near me wouldn't change that much, if at all. I'd be devastated without electricity though!

These days, cars are sold in different variants. You can see the exact same car being available in different parts of the world as a sedan, a hatchback, and a notchback, with the notchback being a cross between the sedan and the hatchback to the extent that it begins to look a bit disproportionate. The Suzuki SX4 is a cross-over but it is sold as a sedan in some developing markets. The Honda Civic was common as a hatchback but they decided to sell it as an entry-level sedan.

If variants being sold under the same model name weren't enough, we have re-badging as well. The Nissan Micra hatchback is also sold as the Renault Pulse. The car looks the same, but it bears a different logo and has a higher-end in-car entertainment system with bluetooth for cellular phone integration and on-steering phone and audio controls. Similarly, the Nissan Sunny is sold by Renault as the Renault Scala - the same car, with a different logo and re-worked interiors. I wonder if they also make it possible to drive a Renault Pulse or a Renault Scala into a Nissan workshop considering that they use the exact same parts and have the exact same vehicle body.

BTW, Nissan is planning to re-introduce the budget Datsun brand so Nissans are sold under the Nissan brand name, with the premium cars bearing the Infiniti brand name, and their vehicles bear the Renault branding when sold by their partner, and now they're going to have the Datsun brand name for their budget models. Toyota's strategy in Japan is to sell everything under the Toyota brand name - the Lexus brand is only used when selling their premium sedan, SUV, and hatchback vehicles overseas.

 

I have never heard of a "notchback" before. That's a weird term (maybe because of where I'm from? Southern states of USA) for me.

I personally love the direction vehicles are taking. The futuristic look is perfect for me -- I don't know why... maybe it's the technological side of me.

Website industry is growing rapidly .. .and free hosting is an area which really attracted some neat players letting users get Dashing Flash websites in matter of seconds and absolutely free

 

However, most of the free sites are automation-driven and hence, they all have some cons or the other. For eg. Integration of Payment Gateway or some neat eCommerce services with online Billing and Support. Things like these are not easy for even some of the very big companies.

 

we are focusing on making a site where people can choose template and get a pre-installed wordpress site loaded with some good theme and relevant modules Not just a free website but an entire set of applications/services packed into a free package.

This sounds awesome, although I don't quite follow. Would there be some sort of like, say design setups you choose from and then it would help set it up with what you wanted? Ex. showing an image of different module setups that you could use by default or something?

i was wondering what Tumblr was until someone mentioned the pictures then i remembered

it was that site with all the celebs, and the Queen and all those people showing off their images

videos, really wonderful some of the pictures, but i can't be doing with that sort of thing so am not a member

prob a great site for people who want to upload their people to show all their friends what they have being upto, or to upload their pictures they do not have room for on their computer.

i have my facebook (which i don't go on very often) and the computer (where i can store my photos if i want or put them on a disk)

Well, if I can still breath I should be ok. Zombies are pretty slow, maybe even an old fat lady like me can outrun them. And hubbies latest project/hobby should come in real handy for zombie attacks, he's taken up reloading ammunition. So we should be just fine.

lol. It'd be more fun with a crossbow though. Plus then you wouldn't need to worry about gun powder. Just retrieve the arrow and you're good to go!

It's about time someone shows off their new consoles! I don't agree with the name though. "One" makes it seem like the first version. I think people that don't keep up with the latest technology may be confused by it, not realizing that "One" came before "360." I can see it now: people paying high prices for 360's because they hear their kid wants the new Xbox...

 

tumblr is a micro-blogging website, which doesn't limit blogging to just text. Users can post pictures, videos, voice clips and more to their blogs, which are all hosted on the company's servers. It became popular after users discovered that it also gave them a more "social" experience than other blogging platforms. And according to Wikipedia, the site has more than 108 million hosted blogs (it doesn't allow self-hosted blogs).

 

And it's no secret that the internet is becoming less and less "virtual". All this connectivity with the real world has brought the real and virtual worlds so close that...it's no longer fun to spend time online All that free stuff you mentioned is still there, but in a very different form, and most probably under one big commercial banner

Just to clarify, I think Tumblr is more used for the pictures and videos than anything else. I've never had an account there but any time I have seen a link to anyone's page it was for images (and rarely videos). I think that is why it has a somewhat nice population -- they kind of focus their attention on one thing instead of everything.

Well, they did say ALL resources, so yes, if they were all gone we would definetly die. And I don't know about everybody else but I would not be very happy if I had to run around hungry, dirty and gasping for breath if there were no food, water and oxygen.

Well... when zombies take over we won't have food, but we'll still have water and oxygen. How will you fare then?

lol, I don't quite follow. And I'm lost as to what resources he's talking about. Really everything is a resource. If all resources were depleted, we would die. There's really no way around that.

Unless the question is more geared towards resources like oil...

Xisto - Purely Free Hosting oriented forum where all Forums and Categories will be related to Designing, Developing and Hosting Websites. More sort of a Forum for Web Designers. This site will also have an internal bridge to Xisto - Support.com Billing Area to help Members manage MyCENTS right from Xisto.com itself. All concepts of myCENTS and practically every information about mycents and free hosting will be here.

 

TalkSense - Everything apart from Web Design & Hosting is discussed here. This Site will simply offer mycents in backend without talking much about it. One must Login to Xisto to Manage MyCENTS. (remember... same login for both sites?)

 

I will move topics from asta to ks accordingly - Since sorting the content has been an issue from long back.

 

The Microsites concept will be used only for offering fast searching and latest Activity in their respective categories. The Microsites will only display the first post of every topic and forward the user to the main version of the forum.

I think I like this idea, although it'd be nice if we could get a mockup or something to show what you mean with the last part (microsites). Using one site for the web host related stuff and the other for all other topics sounds like an awesome plan though. As it is, everything is kind of jumbled together.

Aug 02/2012Just installed xammp and skype on a new laptop and the procedure has changed a little bit.In Skype, select Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection and then un-tick the Port 80 selection.

Old post, I know, but thanks! I had just been closing down Skype when I wanted to do development. I wasn't aware that you could change the ports Skype runs on!

This is definitely an interesting event. Them giving 1.1 when they only have 1.2 isn't a big deal though -- they can liquidate things if they need to, but they are probably counting on a profit for the quarter, so the money shouldn't be an issue.

It's amazing how much some of these companies are going for though, and it helps put into perspective how much they are earning!

In this case "Please Help With Username Change" or something. Especially as the bulk of us assume this is asking for something we can help with, when we can't, .

i did some hack to get my license 2 years before my legal age.. nothing more will i reveal online.

lol. Something I find odd is that in the US you can legally get licenses at the following ages:

Car (16, 14 if it's a "hardship" license -- ex. you have to drive your parents. Has the stipulation of only driving to school, taking parents where they need to go, or a job)

Motorcycle (15)

I've never understood why you can legally ride a motorcycle before a car, I'd think the motorcycle would be more dangerous, and you can still wreck cars with them.

That looks like an interesting game! I've been kind of swaying towards those without levels lately because they help remove the "grind" you otherwise experience, allowing you to have fun!

There's another MMO I'd like to point out as well, called Dragon's Tale. It does have levels in it, although they aren't like you'd expect. Essentially what you do is play games to earn a currency called "Bitcoins" that you can cash out. You can also deposit your own to it in order to win more (gamble).

There are a lot of different mini-games in it, and nearly everything you see in the world is related to some type of game. You can explore, visit with others (people are pretty active in chat) and just have fun and try to earn some coins on the side. Alternatively you can deposit and really win.

There are both luck-based and skill-based games in different flavors (like fishing, feeding ducks, slots, etc.) as well, so you can easily pick and choose what you like!
